Measurements of Observables Sensitive To Colour Reconnection in T(t)over-Bar Events With the Atlas Detector at √s=13tev
A measurement of observables sensitive to effects of colour reconnection in top-quark pair-production events is presented using 139 fb(-1) of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Events are selected by requiring exactly one isolated electron and one isolated muon with opposite charge and two or three jets, where exactly two jets are required to be b-tagged. For the selected events, measurements are presented for the charged-particle multiplicity, the scalar sum of the transverse momenta of the charged particles, and the same scalar sum in bins of charged-particle multiplicity. These observables are unfolded to the stable-particle level, thereby correcting for migration effects due to finite detector resolution, acceptance and efficiency effects. The particle-level measurements are compared with different colour reconnection models in Monte Carlo generators. These measurements disfavour some of the colour reconnection models and provide inputs to future optimisation of the parameters in Monte Carlo generators.SCOAP3; SCOAP3 supports the goals of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development; CERN; ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW; FWF, Austria; ANAS; CNPq; FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC; CFI, Canada; NSFC, China; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF; DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS; CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; BMBF; MPG, Germany; RGC and Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF and Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT; JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS; MIZS, Slovenia; MICINN, Spain; Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; DOE; NSF, United States of America; BCKDF; CANARIE; CRC, Canada [PRIMUS 21/SCI/017, UNCE SCI/013]; Czech Republic; ERC; ERDF; Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, European Union; Investissements d'Avenir Labex, Investissements d'Avenir Idex; ANR, France; DFGandAvHFoundation, Germany - EU-ESF; Greek NSRF, Greece; BSF-NSF; NCN; La Caixa Banking Foundation; CERCA Programme Generalitat de Catalunya; PROMETEO; Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; Goran Gustafssons Stiftelse, Sweden; Royal Society; Leverhulme Trust, United Kingdom; NDGF(Denmark, Norway, Sweden); KIT/GridKA (Germany); INFN-CNAF (Italy); NL-T1 (Netherlands), PIC (Spain); ASGC (Taiwan); BNL (USA)We thank CERN for the very successful operation of the LHC, as well as the support staff from our institutions without whom ATLAS could not be operated efficiently. Innovation, Employment and Market Structure: Firm Level Evidence From Turkey
This paper aims to examine the impact of innovation activities on employment for Turkish manufacturing industry with a special focus on market structures. We utilize an endogenous switching technique which accounts for selection bias issues and endogeneity. We show that there exist employment gains from product innovations only for firms operating in highly concentrated sectors, whereas we cannot find evidence for low concentration sectors. Our results point out a negative association between process innovation and employment only for firms operating in high concentration sectors. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature
Fault Tolerant Controller Design for Multirotor Systems
IIARP International Conference, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 27, 2023Purpose: The use area of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is increasing day by day. Especially Quadcopters are applicable for wide range of potential applications such as security, traffic surveillance, natural risk management, environmental exploration, agriculture and military. However, engine failures, sensor failures or communication failures may occur in quadcopters and it cause both serious accidents in vehicles and damage the environment or surroundings. The purpose of this study aims to develop a fault-tolerant controller design for a quadcopter to enhance its reliability and stability in the presence of component failures or malfunctions. Methodology: The proposed fault-tolerant controller design involves the following key steps: Quadrotor System Design: The mathematical position equations of the quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle to be designed in the MATLAB Simulink program are extracted using the Euler rotation formulation. Model design is done in MATLAB Simulink by determining the dynamic equations. The designed model also includes the effects of external disturbances and possible failures. Fault Detection: Proposed system has a closed loop control system in order to detect the anomalies in the sensors, motors and critical communication modules. After realizing the anormalities, a fault identification algorithm determines the specific components responsible for the observed anormal behavior. In this study, motors failures and abnormalities are examined. Fault Isolation: In order to prevent motors having faulty behaviors from distorted signals, PID feedback control system is proposed. Quadcopter roll, pitch, yawn movements are tested by reference signal. Originality: Proposed PID controller has ability to fix errors under disturbances; however, nonlinear controller methods have better ability to control the control system. The proportional controller is dependent on the current error, the integral controller is the sum of past errors and the derivative controller is an estimation of future errors. When we tune the PID controller values, we can achieve better state responses but curve settlement time increases. On the other hand, when we decrease the curve settlement time, we observed more aggressive system behavior. For more robust system error isolation, nonlinear quadcopter system will be tested with nonlinear controllers, such as sliding mode control

Breast cancer is the most common cancer type among women worldwide. If breast cancer is detected at an early stage, it can be cured. This study proposes a novel classification model based improved machine learning algorithms for diagnosis of breast cancer. Feature selection and hyperparameter optimization methods are used to build improved the machine learning algorithms. Decision Tree, Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, K-Nearest Neighbor and Essemble Learning methods are used as machine learning algorithms, respectively. All experiments are tested on two different datasets, Wisconsin Breast Cancer Dataset (WBCD) and Mammographic Breast Cancer Dataset (MBCD). Relief, Least Absolute Deviation and Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) and Sequential Forward Selection methods are used to determine the most distinctive features of the datasets, respectively. Bayesian optimization (BO) method is used to find optimal hyperparameters in machine learning algorithms. Within the scope of this study, different experiments are conducted in order to obtain the best classification rate. The proposed feature selection-Bayes optimization hybrid methods have increased the classification rates of the machine learning algorithms used in the study. As a result of the experiments, LASSO-BO-SVM has showed the highest accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score in both datasets (%98,95, %97,17, %100, %98,56 for WBCD; %97.95, %98,28, %98,28, %98,28 for MBCD).Meme kanseri dünya genelinde kadınlar arasında en sık görülen kanser türüdür. Damar İçi İmplant Materyal Yüzeylerinde Antitrombojenik ve Antibakteriyel Aktiviteyi Artirmaya Yönelik Heparin İmmobilizasyonu
Implantable materials are tools that are used in the human body for temporary or permanent, internal or external, treatment or repair, and so on. Nowadays, due to the growing population and long lifetime, the rate, quantity, and duration of these materials are also increasing. Therefore, implantable materials should be biocompatible with the environment in their usage area and be designed to prevent any complications after the transplant. Within the scope of this thesis, two different materials were used as polymeric and metallic substrates for surface modification with an anticoagulation drug that is used in clinics, heparin. Polypropylene (PP) was selected as a model polymeric substrate and plasma-assisted surface modification was applied in two steps: (i) oxygen etching and (ii) amine-rich functional group creation. Surface modification parameters that were held with the plasma polymerization (PlzP) technique were analyzed with contact angle measurements, surface free energy calculations, obtaining the maximum nitrogen amount on the surfaces and increasing the surface roughness values, etc., and the parameters were optimized accordingly. Immobilization of heparin applied as pure heparin (hep) and covalent bond agent assisted (hep*) with 3 different concentration values. The amount of immobilized heparin detected with toluidine blue (TB) dye and the parameter that produces the maximum amount of immobilized heparin were selected as optimal. Covalent bond formation between hep* and PP substrates was proven with amide I and II peaks, which were detected with FTIR-ATR analysis. Compared to the bare PP substrates, heparin immobilization provided a lower amount of adhered protein and much more efficient hemocompatibility testing (platelet adhesion, hemolysis, and kinetic blood coagulation rate) results. Also, the antiadhesive characteristics of heparin-immobilized PP surfaces were tested against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria strains, and the antibacterial mechanism of heparin was revealed as "contact killing". Lastly, the biocompatibility of produced surfaces was tested with the BJ human fibroblast cell line. On the other hand, titanium (Ti) was selected as the model metallic substrate, and heparin immobilization onto the surfaces was held in one step with the alternative current electrophoretic deposition (AC-EPD) technique. Parameter optimization was achieved with contact angle measurements, free surface energy calculations, and the surface roughness values of purely deposited heparin. In the beginning, the deposited heparin amount was detected with TB dye, but according to further analysis, this procedure is not appropriate to detect the heparin amount that was deposited with the AC-EPD technique. The effect of heparin deposition on Ti substrates was examined detailedly with adhered protein amount, hemocompatibility tests, antiadhesive characteristics, and biocompatibility, respectively. In brief, within the scope of the thesis, different surface modification techniques with heparin on both PP and Ti surfaces were examined. With the help of the anticoagulant characteristic of heparin, which is already known, also its antibacterial, antiadherent, and biocompatibility characteristics were examined in detail and brought to the literature.
Measurement of Muon Pairs Produced Via Γγ Scattering in Nonultraperipheral Pb Plus Pb Collisions at √snn=5.02 Tev With the Atlas Detector
Results of a measurement of dimuon photoproduction in nonultraperipheral Pb + Pb collisions at root sNN = 5.02 TeV are presented. The measurement uses ATLAS data from the 2015 and 2018 Pb + Pb data-taking periods at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of 1.94 nb-1. The gamma gamma -> mu+mu- pairs are identified via selections on pair momentum asymmetry and acoplanarity. Differential cross sections for dimuon production are measured in different centrality, average muon momentum, and pair rapidity intervals as functions of acoplanarity and k perpendicular to, the transverse momentum kick of one muon relative to the other. Measurements are also made as a function of the rapidity separation of the muons and the angle of the muon pair relative to the second-order event plane to test whether magnetic fields generated in the quark-gluon plasma affect the measured muons. A prior observation of a centrality-dependent broadening of the acoplanarity distribution is confirmed. Furthermore, the improved precision of the measurement reveals a depletion in the number of pairs having small acoplanarity or k perpendicular to values in more central collisions. The acoplanarity distributions in a given centrality interval are observed to vary with the mean pT of the muons in the pair, but the k perpendicular to distributions do not. Comparisons with recent theoretical predictions are made. The predicted trends associated with effects of magnetic fields on the dimuons are not observed.ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW, Austria; FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; CNPq, Brazil; FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, Canada; NRC, Canada; CFI, Canada; CERN; ANID, Chile; CAS, China; MOST, China; NSFC, China; Minciencias, Colombia; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF, Denmark; DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS, France; CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSFG, Georgia; BMBF, Germany; HGF, Germany; MPG, Germany; GSRI, Greece; RGC, China; Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF, Israel; Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT, Japan; JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS, Slovenia; MIZS, Slovenia; DSI/NRF, South Africa; MICINN, Spain; SRC, Sweden; Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, Switzerland; SNSF, Switzerland; Canton of Bern, Switzerland; Canton of Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TENMAK, Turkey; STFC, United Kingdom; DOE, USA; NSF, USA; BCKDF, Canada; Canarie, Canada; Compute Canada, Canada; CCRC, Canada; PRIMUS, Czech Republic [21/SCI/017]; UNCE, Czech Republic [SCI/013]; COST, European Union; ERC, European Union; ERDF, European Union; Horizon 2020, European Union; Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, European Union; Investissements d'Avenir Labex, France; Investissements d'Avenir Idex, France; ANR, France; DFG, Germany; AvH Foundation, Germany; Herakleitos programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Thales programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Aristeia programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Greek NSRF, Greece; BSF-NSF, Israel; MINERVA, Israel; Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, Norway; NCN, Poland; NAWA, Poland; La Caixa Banking Foundation, Spain; CERCA Programme Generalitat de Catalunya, Spain; PROMETEO Programme Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; GenT Programme Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; Goran Gustafssons Stiftelse, Sweden; Royal Society, United Kingdom; Leverhulme Trust, United KingdomWe thank CERN for the very successful operation of the LHC, as well as the support staff from our institutions without whom ATLAS could not be operated efficiently. Dental Implants and Implant Coatings: a Focus on Their Toxicity and Safety
Dental implants are medical devices that are surgically inserted into the patient’s jawbone by an orthodon-tist to act as roots of missing teeth. After the implantation, the maxilla or mandible integrates with the surface of the dental implant. This process, called “osseointegration,” is an important period to ensure the long-term use of dental implants and prevent implant failures. Metal implants are the most used implant materials. However, they have disadvantages such as corrosion, metal ion release from metal implant surfaces and associated toxicity. To avoid these adverse effects and improve osseointegration, alternative dental implant materials such as ceramics, polymers, composites, and novel surface modification technologies have been developed. The safety of these materials are also of concern for toxicologists. This review will give general information about dental implant materials, osseointegration and successful implantation pro-cess. Moreover, we will focus on the new surface coatings materials for of dental implants and their toxicity and safety concerns will be discussed. © 2023 by Begell House, Inc
The pump control importance of the pressure sensor assigned to the roller pumps in the Heart Lung Machine
European Biotechnology Congress 2023The role of pressure sensors in pump regulation is very important in the Heart Lung Machine. Pressure sensors continuously monitor and control the blood pressure in the device's circulatory system. In this way, parameters such as the speed and power of the pumps can be adjusted according to the needs of the patient. Pump regulation is vital to ensure that the patient's blood circulation continues in a stable manner and to ensure that the surgery is performed safely. PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control algorithms are a basic control strategy used in feedback control systems. These algorithms use feedback data to enable the system to approach the desired target and maintain the desired state. The aim of this study is to observe the action of the pumps in pressure regulation in Heart Lung Machines, to understand the clinical need and then to determine the appropriate control mechanism. In order to obtain the desired response, PID controllers must be adjusted according to the system they control. This adjustment is carried out by determining the coefficients Kp, Ki and Kd in the most appropriate way according to the desired response

Steady State Thermokinetic of Ultra-Thin Mo2c/G Heterostructures Grown on the Prior-Graphitized Cu/Graphene Biasing
In this work, the chemical vapor deposition synthesis of the Mo2C/graphene heterostructure above the melting temperature of Cu bias (1356 K) is studied. Two sets of Mo2C growth experiments at high CH4 flow rates (5 SCCM >= 3 SCCM) are performed, either using prior-graphene synthesis or having in situ graphitization, for three different Cu bias thicknesses. Raman mappings taken from all six-test samples show graphene covers not only over the Mo2C pillars but also over their untransformed Cu bias substrate regions. The only difference is that the Mo2C pillar grows over the prior graphene bias; on the other hand, the in situ graphene grown Mo2C pillar nucleates and grows over the fresh Cu bias surfaces. A steady-state laminate model for flows of Mo and C species with phase transformations is developed for the radial and vertical growth kinetics of synthesized Mo2C/graphene heterostructure. The computer simulation reproduces those experimental observations performed recently in our laboratories on the prior or no-prior graphitized (G) test modules with Cu/G bias, having three different thicknesses at 1363 K. AFM-topography and SEM photos for a prior graphitized test module of 25 mu m thick Cu and 4.72 angstrom graphene bias show a three layered Mo2C/graphene heterostructure; the first layer is almost perfect hexagonal flat, and the other two circular shaped layers constitute the whole pillar of 140 nm height. This may be compared to a 250 mu m thick Cu/4.7 angstrom graphene bias sample, which furnishes an ultra-thin single flat layer of 10-13 nm thick Mo2C crystallites having a perfect planar hexagonal structure.
