Get PDFExiste un incremento en las cifras de retornados, que se enmarcan en la crisis económica de 2008 y en la creciente realidad antiinmigrante que viven los mexicanos en Estados Unidos. Para los jóvenes mexicanos migrantes en Estados Unidos, estos contextos adversos representan limitaciones en aspectos sociales, familiares, laborales y educativos (Montoya y Herrera, 2015; Valenzuela y Medina, 2015), en estas circunstancias el retorno pasa de ser una opción a una probabilidad.
En este trabajo se exponen los resultados preliminares de la investigación “Jóvenes migrantes de retorno. Estrategias educativas y aspiraciones profesionales”. El objetivo general de este escrito es localizar, cuantificar y describir el perfil de los jóvenes migrantes de retorno que se encuentran de regreso en México estudiando en la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC)

A través del estudio de una muestra de videos de conciertos que tuvieron lugar en Montreal, mostramos cómo estos videos oscilan entre una lógica de flujo, promoción y rendimiento, típica de la economía de las plataformas, por un lado, y una lógica documental de archivo e incluso patrimonial en algunos aspectos, por el otro. p.13
Interview with Bruce Linton
Get PDFIn July 2022, a similar emotion possessed me with the prospect of getting an interview with Bruce Linton, cofounder of the biggest Cannabis corporation in the world, Canopy Growth. Throughout my ethnographic research in Smith Falls (Ontario, Canada) people would refer to Bruce as a supportive being; there was no one who would not have spoken well of him. Occasionally, I thought it was a kind of a myth, not from ancient history but from contemporary lore: a type of entrepreneur who, with his extremely socially oriented perspective about the cannabis industry, came to give hope to a community that dealt with the consequences of Hershey’s shutdown, and therefore, with the labor crises and global discomfort of our century. By hearing the testimonies of these people and acknowledging Bruce’s importance in the Canadian and global cannabis industry, I decided to leave no stone unturned until I got an interview with him. China has never banned hemp cultivation and is the world’s largest producer. In early 2019, the World Health Organization issued a series of recommendations about marihuana and its derivatives. Shortly thereafter, the UN International Narcotics Control Board took cannabis off its List IV, the list of psychotropic drugs. Mexico has decriminalized its use for medicinal and scientific research purposes and the Supreme Court recognizes the individual’s right to personal use for the free development of his/her personality

Get PDFComo bien pudo apreciarse a lo largo del libro, algunos de los hallazgos presentados nos brindan la posibilidad de profundizar todavía más en ciertas características relacionadas con la industria cannábica canadiense en el contexto actual. Por citar algunos ejemplos, destaca la migración laboral y la movilidad de las personas, sobre todo del Sur global al Norte global, sin dejar a un lado los flujos internos como una parte medular de los mecanismos de trabajo en la industria cannábica, que como pretendimos explicar en esta investigación, consisten en la instrumentación de esquemas laborales precarios, los cuales, en última instancia, reproducen los patrones que ha seguido durante las últimas décadas la agroindustria canadiense. Otro de los temas que quedaron en el tintero, pero que es fundamental analizar desde la lente de la responsabilidad social, es el del medioambiente, ya que pudimos observar cómo las corporaciones toman ventaja y modifican radicalmente los espacios y territorios locales y transnacionales con una libertad y una hegemonía avaladas por los propios Estados. Lo demuestran los casos de Hershey y, evidentemente, el de Canopy Growth, en Smiths Falls. p.189-19

The Mexican corrido has shifted unexpectedly yet necessarily thanks to Vivir Quintana, who has started to sing of the crimes that we women have faced in Mexico’s unending war against gender violence. After two years of collaborating with women who have been deprived of their liberty, Vivir wrote “Cosas que sorprenden a la audiencia”3 (Shocking Hearing) a songbook on the tribulations that women have faced to the point of landing in jail — their great crime being the fact that they defended themselves against constant abuse, rape, groping, and potential femicide. Their crime was that they defended their, and their loved ones’, lives. P.8
