No full textMeasurements and calculations of H<sub>2</sub>O broadened by CO<sub>2</sub> collisional parameters for planetary atmospheres
No full textCollisional parameters of H2O with CO2 are currently missing from international spectroscopic databases, although they are essential for accurate modeling of water vapor in CO2-rich planetary atmospheres. In this study, high-resolution infrared spectra of H2O broadened by CO2 were recorded using a Fourier Transform Spectrometer in the 1.18 and 2.34 µm spectral regions. CO2-collisional parameters for selected H2O transitions were derived through a multispectrum fitting procedure employing both Voigt and quadratic speed-dependent Voigt profiles. Furthermore, calculations based on the semi-classical Complex Robert-Bonamy-Ma formalism were performed to estimate CO2-broadened half-widths, line shifts, and their temperature dependencies across various atmospheric transparency windows. It results in a strong agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental data. Finally, the shared calculated linelist, obtained for a wide range of transitions, can be directly applied to radiative transfer modeling of atmospheres primarily composed of carbon dioxide.</p
Shifting Geographies of Memory and Imagination:Transnational and Transgenerational Turns in David Almond’s Paper Boat, Paper Bird
No full textBy drawing on a multidisciplinary framework that spans authorship studies, cognitive studies, and children’s literature studies, this article explores the transnational and transgenerational nature of David Almond’s Paper Boat, Paper Bird (2022), a story based on an experience that Almond’s then seven-year-old daughter had during their trip to Japan. While research has been carried out in children’s literature studies on transnational memories being passed on from adults to children, memories with vectors from children to adults have not been explored as prominently. To approach the transnational and transgenerational turns in Paper Boat, Paper Bird, I make use of authorship studies to delve into how paratextual details, such as interviews and the afterword in Paper Boat, Paper Bird, function as forms of authorial intervention in our understandings of narratives. Then, I draw on cognitive studies to examine how a child’s memory witnessed by a parent can be described as an example of the observer perspective of memory. By examining these transnational and transgenerational turns, this article establishes why Almond shifts the locus of his imagination to another geographical region, while highlighting the importance of this shift being anchored in a child–adult memory

Il est utile de restituer les étapes dont ces récits ne parlent pas parce quʼelles ont été jugées évidentes. Plusieurs dossiers sont examinés, dont notamment (dans lʼordre chronologique) les voyages dʼHerkhouf vers Iam (inscription de la Qoubbet el-Haoua), la mission dʼAmenemhat au Ouadi Hammamat (inscription Montet 87), deux expéditions à Pount attestées par les inscriptions du Ouadi Gaouasis, les trajets aller et retour dans le Naufragé, le trajet aller de Ramsès II vers Qadech, ainsi que le début du récit de Sinouhé
