The paper indicates the possibility of the categorization of universities belonging to the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland and universities associated with this conference, due to the available data on three graduates' years. The categorization uses two selected synthetic indicators determined in the nationwide system of monitoring the economic fate of graduates. The combinations of the values of these indicators make it possible to distinguish the category of universities whose graduates are assessed differently by employers. Additional possibilities of inference about changes in the categories of individual universities were also indicated. The results of categorization confirm the assumption that the identity of the university has a significant impact on the economic fate of graduates. At the same time, the summary of the results obtained for three years indicates the short-term stability of the categorization, or in other words, the lack - apart from a dozen or so exceptions - of significant changes in the categorization175-8
Zrównoważona transformacja: stan i uwarunkowania w kontekście ESG
Marketing of Scientific and Research Organizations
The Web 2.0 era and the following phases of web development bring new challenges to businesses, but also new opportunities to
establish and maintain relationships with market participants, indulge in direct contact with customers and learn about their needs,
emotions and opinions. The advancement of content creation and sharing technologies creates an opportunity to collect information from
anyone with access to the Internet. User-generated content (UGC) information is increasingly supporting decision-making and analysis for various types of business, management or marketing activities. Such information is also increasingly used as a source of data in scientific research. The present study seeks to evaluate the relevance of UGC in scientific research and the scope and ways in which content created by Internet users can be used by researchers of phenomena existing in the service sector. To achieve this goal, a bibliometric literature review (quantitative analysis of publications, identification of research collaborators, co-author analysis, co-citation analysis and co-word analysis) was conducted covering articles between 2012 and 2022 published in journals indexed in the Scopus database. The analysis used descriptive statistics and text and content analysis. A significant increase was observed in publications between 2020 and 2022. Among the various service branches, the researchers most often chose data sets in the form of comments posted online by
customers of tourism industries, mainly those using accommodation services, but also restaurants. TripAdvisor was observed to be the
most frequently used data source. In their analysis, the authors used both qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as a combination
of them. It is observed that more sophisticated machine learning algorithms have been implemented for text analysis. Finally, the paper
also presents future research recommendations365-1004
Turyzm/Tourism
The purpose of this paper is to identify the main factors for the quality of hotel services and to verify the SERVQUAL measurement scale commonly used in the services sector. In order to achieve this goal, an innovative approach of quantitative and qualitative content analysis of reviews published by users of the reservation portals Hotels.com and Booking.com was used. The study was based on more than 167,000 opinions on 3,4,5-star hotels located in Warsaw. They were ‘scraped’ with an indexing robot. The research outlines a list of the most important topics raised in those comments which correspond to the factors of perceived service quality of hotels. Among these are location, room attributes, cleanliness, breakfast and staff. In addition, the most important criteria used by customers to describe each of the listed elements are also reported. The results made it possible to identify differences between the operationalization of the constructs indicated in the SERVQUAL scale and the descriptions of each factor in the spontaneous comments of internet users. Thus, the need for adjustment to the current operationalizations of the SERVQUAL model to better reflect the sentiments of consumers in the hotel industry, or even developing a completely new tool for measuring service quality, was demonstrated.129-403
The Annual Journal of Audit and Accounting
This paper was written during the proposal stage of the 2023 Global Internal Audit Standards, hence the abbreviation GIAS 2023. Currently, the abbreviation GIAS 2024 is more commonly used in publications on internal auditing.Abstract
Purpose: The aim of the study is to present a proposal for the delimitation (determination of boundaries) of the internal audit spectrum in the area of ethics programmes of organisations, from the perspective of the draft new Global Internal Audit Standards.
Methodology/research approach: A comparative analysis, a critical analysis and a descriptive method of the proposed model were used in the study.
Results: The main fi ndings of the analysis include the identifi cation of new opportunities provided by the revision of the Global Internal Audit Standards in the area of auditing of ethics programmes, the illustration of challenges in the area of analysing the organisation’s ethical maturity levels and the presentation of a list of audit tasks in the area of ethics: desirable; potentially acceptable; and not recommended.
Research limitations/implications: The proposed streamlining of audit tasks in the area of ethics from the perspective of the Standards is a proposal for discussion, resulting, among others, from the author’s experience. Further development of the Global Internal Auditing Standards and potential offi cial stances of the Institute ofInternal Auditors, including the Institute’s domestic branches, may serve its positiveor negative verifi cation.
Originality/value: This is the fi rst publication comparing the qualitative as well as quantitative change between the existing International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, in force since 2017, the revision of which, called the Global Standards for Internal Auditing, was presented in 2023 and will be implemented in 2024–2025.1141-16
Categorisation-enhanced mental-accounting consumer behaviour: demand enhancement and endogenous cycles in an overlapping-generations income-age distribution model
Weaknesses of intertemporal optimisation approaches to consumption modelling include excess sensitivity of an individual's expenditure to interest rate changes and the inability to account for the documented behavioural aspects of decision-making, such as mental accounting or infrequent purchases and debt-taking. Credibly representing category-of-goods mental accounting in an intertemporal optimisation framework is notoriously difficult, as this modelling approach imposes interrelations between the demand for different categories through first-order conditions. This breaks the principle of nonfungibility, contrary to the rationale of mental-accounting theory. Thus, a behavioural-procedural framework is needed. This work applies such an approach in the form of a merger with categorisation theories, devised in a separate paper, to modelling consumer demand in a multimarket overlapping-generations agent-based income distribution model. Consumer decisions about spending on nondurable and frequently bought durable goods and infrequently-bought durable goods, such as houses and flats, are subject to different rules, which allows to model real-world features such as infrequent purchases and rare debt-taking. The devised single and multi-agent models of consumer behaviour are consistent both with microeconomic and macroeconomic evidence on consumption. Moreover, the results of the overlapping-generations agent-based income distribution model demonstrate that income changes are greatly enhanced by behavioural responses of consumers, thus creating high aggregate demand growth.2023-0891-71SGH KAE Working Papers Serie
Studia i Prace Kolegium Zarządzania i Finansów
Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja najważniejszych przestępstw związanych z kryptowalutami oraz praniem pieniędzy przy użyciu infrastruktury opartej na blockchainie. Postęp technologiczny w dziedzinie zdecentralizowanych finansów przed długi czas wyprzedzał regulatorów, którzy dopiero przy gwałtownym wzroście wartości rynku zaczęli działać wprowadzając ograniczenia i zasady znane z tradycyjnych finansów. Mimo tych działań skala przestępstw z wykorzystaniem tych aktywów cały czas rośnie – wzrost zainteresowania detalicznych inwestorów tworzy sprzężenie zwrotne, gdyż coraz częściej padają oni ofiarami przestępstw i dostarczają płynności koniecznej do wyprania pieniędzy. The aim of this article is to identify the most important types of crime related to cryptocurrencies and money laundering, utilizing the infrastructure based on blockchain technology. The development in the area of decentralized finance for a long time preceded the decisions of regulators, which only when the market increased in value substantially started to act, implementing limits and rules known from traditional finance. Despite these measures, the scale of crimes using the assets has been on the rise all the time: the growing interest of retail investors creates a feedback loop, as they increasingly become victims of crimes and provide the liquidity necessary for money laundering201-22519
How regional business cycles diffuse across space and time : evidence from a Bayesian Markov switching panel of GDP and unemployment in Poland
We investigate the regional business cycles at NUTS-3 granularity in Poland (N=73) using two variables in parallel: GDP dynamics and unemployment. The model allows for both idiosyncratic business cycle fluctuations in a region in the form of 2-state Markov chain, as well as spatial interactions with other regions. The posterior distribution of the parameters is simulated with a Metropolis-within-Gibbs procedure. We find that the regions can be classified into business cycle setters and takers, and this classification exhibits a high degree of overlap with the line of division between metropolitan versus peripheral regions. We also find that, under large N, the fixed-effects methods, as proposed in the previous literature, are vulnerable to both identification issues and (MCMC) convergence problems, especially with short T, which is of critical importance in GDP on the considered spatial granularity level.2023/0821-24SGH KAE Working Papers Serie
30 lat w naukach społecznych : nowe myśli i idee
Hasło przewodnie SGH ("SGH kształtuje liderów") stało się inspiracją do podjęcia badań empirycznych nad problematyką przywództwa, w szczególności zaś nad kompetencjami liderów i rolą uczelni w procesie kształtowania tych kompetencji u studentów.
