Hydrodynamische Rekonstruktion des Sturmhochwassers vom 20./21. Oktober 2023

    No full text

The typologization of water research as a possible means to improve the technical guidelines on the adaptation of water infrastructure to climate change

    No full text
The obvious question is “how the research on Water Infrastructure adaptation to Climate Change can be organized to facilitate its utilization by the relevant guidelines’ developers?” One of the possible first actions is to create a “common language” between researchers and guidelines’ developers via the typologization of water research

Interdependencies between water and climate change mitigation through hydropower energy production by reservoirs

    No full text
Hydropower plays an important role in climate change mitigation as a major component of renewable energy production. In addition it can absorb power supply fluctuations mainly caused by variable renewa-ble energy sources. However, hydropower is affected by hydrological changes due to global warming. Hydropower energy production can be constrained by such changes, directly or indirectly, because of its complex relationship with other water management objectives. Further studies are needed to understand how these complex interactions can constrain the deployment of renewable energy production for climate change mitigation

The evolving dynamics of a deep North American lake over a half-century

    No full text
Lake Tahoe, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, USA, is widely known for its ultra-oligotrophic status and outstanding clarity. The lake has a surface area of 495 km2, a maximum depth of 501 m, and is located within a relatively small, forested watershed of 800 km2. The small ratio of watershed area to lake volume results in a large mean retention time of lake water of approximately 650 years
