Exploring the nitrogen cycle of the Amazon shelf and river plume
Get PDFHuman activities have changed the global N cycle, increasing N fluxes into the ocean, particularly affecting vulnerable coastal zones. Along the Amazon River Plume, sediments potentially act as both a source and sink of DIN. While denitrification appears to be a significant loss process in sediment, nitrification dominates in the water column. This study's findings draw an N-budget of the Amazon estuary based on rates of N cycle pathways, providing baseline knowledge for environmental management and conservation efforts amidst climate change and human-induced alterations to the N cycle

No full textGeodaten und Karten können zum Verständnis von Siedlungsstrukturen beitragen, wobei urbane Kernräume (Bebauung, innerörtlicher Verkehr und Siedlungsgrün) einen wichtigen Bezugsrahmen darstellen. Die Ortslagen einer Stadt aus deutschen Geobasisdaten bilden als urbane Maske eine geeignete Referenzgeometrie. Für bisher fehlende urbane Masken auf europäischer Ebene wird ein GIS-basierter Ansatz auf Basis des Copernicus Urban Atlas vorgeschlagen und an ausgewählten Großstädten getestet. Zur urbanen Zerschneidung und für urbane Grünstrukturen werden Metriken im gesamtstädtischen Kontext berechnet.Geodata and maps can enhance the understanding of settlement structure characteristics, whereas urban cores (built-up areas, inner-city transport, urban greenery) are key reference points. The urban sites of a city from German basic geodata (Ortslage) form a suitable reference geometry as an urban mask. A GIS-based generation approach based on the Copernicus Urban Atlas is proposed for urban masks that are currently lacking at European level and tested on selected large cities. Metrics for urban fragmentation and urban green structures are calculated in city-wide contexts
Phosphonium salt catalysts for reductive and non-reductive CO2 fixation
Get PDFIn this thesis, a series of phosphonium salts were designed and used as catalysts for CO2 fixation and conversion to different valuable products via reductive and non-reductive reactions. Firstly, a phosphonium salt and two bifunctional phosphonium salts bearing perfluorinated side chains were prepared for the preparation of cyclic carbonate. Subsequently, phosphonium internal salt and a phosphonium methylcarbonate saltcatalyzed selectively reductive C-N bond formation reaction between amines and CO2 as C1-source with hydrosilanes as reducing agent were developed.In dieser Arbeit wurde eine Reihe von Phosphoniumsalzen entwickelt und als Katalysatoren für die CO2-Fixierung und Umwandlung in verschiedene wertvolle Produkte über reduktive und nicht-reduktive Reaktionen eingesetzt. Zunächst wurden ein Phosphoniumsalz und zwei bifunktionelle Phosphoniumsalze mit perfluorierten Seitenketten zur Herstellung von zyklischem Carbonat hergestellt. Anschließend wurden ein Phosphonium-Innensalz und Phosphonium-Methylcarbonat-Salz entwickelt, die selektiv reduktive C-N-Bindungsbildungsreaktionen zwischen Aminen und CO2 als C1-Quelle mit Hydrosilanen katalysieren

The dissertation introduces a novel Machine Learning-based approach to enhance the calibration of platform magnetometers on non-dedicated satellites, addressing the challenges of their rough calibration. The methodology, applied to the GOCE and GRACE-FO missions, significantly improves data accuracy, enabling scientific application. This work increases data availability for geomagnetic studies and sets the stage for future applications in satellite missions.Diese Forschung untersucht die Entwicklung des Erdmagnetfeldes und betont die Bedeutung präziser Daten. Die Dissertation führt einen maschinellen Lernansatz zur Verbesserung der Kalibrierung von Magnetometern auf nicht dedizierten Satelliten ein, um die Probleme der groben Kalibrierung zu lösen. Angewendet auf die GOCE- und GRACE-FO-Missionen, verbessert die Methodik die Datenpräzision erheblich und ermöglicht wissenschaftliche Anwendungen. Sie setzt sich aus einem theoretischen Teil zusammen, der aktuelle Konflikttheorien, mit interdisziplinären Handlungs- und Gesellschaftstheorien und Erkenntnissen aus der Emotionsforschung verbindet. Es werden Emotionaldynamiken, als eine neue Analyseebene hergeleitet und methodisch erschlossen. Ein theoretischer Forschungspfad wird nach der Ausarbeitung in einer praktischen Anwendung an einem konkreten Fallbeispiel getestet. Die Konfliktregion, die praktisch erschlossen wird, ist die Postkonfliktgesellschaft Nordirland.The work opens up new levels of analysis in conflict research. It consists a theoretical part that combines current conflict theories, interdisciplinary action and social theories and findings from emotion research. Emotional dynamics are derived and methodically developed as a new level of analysis. Once a theoretical research path has been developed, it is tested in a practical application using a concrete case study. The conflict region that is observed is the post-conflict society of Northern Ireland

In these, they construct a public self-image that is closely interwoven with the experience of spaces and also allows insights into the artists' gender identity. In addition to the experience of certain spaces, gender identity is another essential aspect with which hip hop artists establish authenticity and claim 'realness'.Die Hip-Hop-Kultur wird häufig mit weniger privilegierten öffentlichen Räumen in Verbindung gebracht. Neben Songtexten und Musikvideos haben Hip-Hop-Künstlerinnen und Künstler seit der Jahrtausendwende auch Autobiographien und Memoiren verfasst. In diesen konstruieren sie ein öffentliches Selbstbild, das eng mit der Erfahrung von Räumen verwoben ist und Einblicke in die Geschlechtsidentität der Künstlerinnen und Künstler zulässt.
