Geographical Concentration. The case of economics journals
No full textInternational audienceThe purpose of this paper is to investigate whether geographical concentration can act as a supplement to the Journal Impact Factor (JIF). The results indicate that the use of a geographical concentration measure opens up new possibilities for analyses of the development of geographic diversion over time. In contrast to measures used in earlier studies the precise strength of the geographical concentration index as a measure of diversion is that it represents diversion as a single value that can be followed over time. The results show wider geographic distribution of European economics journals in the 1980s compared to the American economics journals whereas there seems to be no difference in geographic dispersion in the 1990s

No full textVisse islandske erhvervsfolk (og det islandske erhvervsliv i almindelighed) har i den senere tid i visse danske medier fået en del kritisk omtale. I foredraget vil jeg undersøge om denne negative omtale har smittet af på opfattelsen af Island blandt "almindelige danskere". Der ud over er jeg interesseret i hvor stor folks viden om Island er, og hvordan Island opfattes som brand af dem. På baggrund af spørgeskemaundersøgelsen kan man konkludere at respondenterne ikke har et negativt billede af Island på grund af den negative omtale. De ved måske ikke så meget om Island, men det de ved, er positivt. Islands brand hviler på "natur" og nogle få meget kendte berømtheder
Journal interaction. A bibliometric analysis of economics journals
No full textInternational audienceCitation analysis is widely used as an evaluation method within sciences. This paper seeks to qualify citation analyses by adding insight into the sciences under investigation. The paper presents a method of citation analysis using multiple linear regressions on both cited and citing economic journals. The proposed method controls for the different characteristics of the journals as well as for their degree of interaction. The paper shows some of the hidden structures within the economic science that are determinants for the results from citation analysis. The analysis indicates several underlying factors within citation patterns in economics that should be accounted for when doing citation analysis for evaluation purposes. A journal is to a large extent self-supplying with citations, but when this is extracted from the data, journals are dependent on similar journals – with respect to sub discipline, geography and JIF - to supply citations

Using the Bologna gradual and troper-sequentiary, codex Angelicus 123, dated ca. 1039, as an example, the paper presents three case studies to illustrate how different interartistic representations work together in the medieval folio, e.g. word and image, text and music, and liturgical conventions in text editing
Journal Diffusion Factors – a measure of diffusion?
No full textInternational audienceIn this paper we show that the measure of diffusion introduced by Ian Rowlands called the Journal Diffusion Factor (JDF) is highly negatively correlated with the number of citations, leading highly cited journals to get a low JDF, whereas less cited journals gets a high JDF. This property reduces the utility of the JDF as a tool for evaluation of research influence. We present a new definition of the JDF in order to attempt to improve the JDF. This new JDF corrects the strong correlation with the number cites, but has a strongly statistically positive correlation with Journal Impact Factors (JIF). However, the new JDF may still be used as an evaluation tool since, for journals with similar JIF values, the new JDF can be used to differentiate between them. Thereby, journal evaluation will be based on more than one aspect of journal influence when assessing journal influence with similar Journal Impact Factor values
Pietism and the politics of catechisms: The case of Denmark and Norway in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries
No full textPontoppidan's exposition of the church-catechism was the first general and authorized manual for teaching Christianity in Denmark and Norway, and abridged editions or extracts of Pontopiddan's exposition had for decades replaced the original text on the market. Nevertheless, the manual's main content and key concepts had remained intact. After the Eidswoll Constitution 1814, it had been decided by supreme resolution in 1818 that Pontoppidan's exposition or Saxtorph's extract of it were the authorized texts in Norway's public schools and to be used for instruction of pupils until a "new manual or new manuals in Religion might be introduced". In the following I will discuss some key concepts within Pontoppidan in relation to the manual's historical context: the Second Reformation. What kind of view of man was imprinted on the public in the period, which began in 1730s? I investigate the diffusion of the text and the context of its utilization. What kinds of attitudes about the individual, about society and the authorities were placed at the disposal of the citizens' interpretation of their environment? Finally, I focus on the conflicts in connection with the use of Pontoppidan's manual and the conflicts, which arose when the authorities tried to replace it in Norway and Denmark
