    Implementation of the Balanced Scorecard Model on an Example of a Small Company

    U ovom se istraživanju analizira model uravnoteženih pokazatelja poslovanja, kao alat za uspješno provođenje vizije, poslovne strategije i ciljeva organizacije. Istraživanje se, osim teorijskim djelom, provodi uvođenjem sustava u konkretno poduzeće koje se suočava s problemima visoke konkurencije i odlaska radne snage u inozemstvo. Istraživanje počinje metodom analize, gdje se analizom misije i vizije poduzeća određuju njegovi strateški ciljevi, koji su osnova metode uravnoteženih pokazatelja. Nadalje, provodi se proširena SWOT analiza, kojom se definiraju konkretne strategije, a kasnije i mjere koje su potrebne za ostvarenje strateških ciljeva. Istraživanje je pokazalo da je metoda uravnoteženih pokazatelja poslovanja odličan alat, koji organizacijama može poslužiti za utvrđivanje trenutačnog stanja poduzeća, odnosno koliko je daleko od svojih ciljeva te za stvaranje konkretnih strategija i mjera za dostizanje tih ciljeva.This research analyses the Balanced Scorecard model, as a tool for the successful implementation of the vision, business strategy and goals of the organization, In addition to the theoretical work, the research is carried out by implementing the Balanced Scorecard model in a specific company that faces the problems of high competition and the departure of workforce abroad. The research starts with the analysis method, where the analysis of the mission and vision of the enterprise determines its strategic goals, which are the basis of BSC. Furthermore, an extended SWOT analysis is conducted, which defines concrete strategies and later the measures necessary to achieve strategic goals. The research has shown that the BSC model is an excellent tool, which can serve organizations to determine the current state of the company, i.e. how far it is from its goals and to create concrete strategies and measures to achieve these goals.     Digital transformation and implementation of card payment on the example of selected retail companies

    U radu se prikazuju i analiziraju procesi i izazovi prilikom implementacije kartičnog poslovanja u maloprodaji u digitalnom procesu transformacije poslovanja poduzeća. Opisana problematika odnosi se na sigurnost kartičnog poslovanja i kompleksnost modela naknada koji imaju utjecaj na digitalnu transformaciju poslovanja. Navedene su glavne značajke kartičnog poslovanja u današnjem suvremenom poslovnom okruženju i analizirani su rezultati empirijskog istraživanja kartičnog poslovanja u maloprodaji. Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali kako digitalna transformacija ima važnu ulogu u suvremenom poslovnom okruženju i da poslovni subjekti koji nisu ulagali u edukaciju i prilagođavali se najnovijim tehnološkim dostignućima sve više zaostaju za konkurencijom. Nadalje, istraživanje je pokazalo kako se digitalna transformacija poslovanja percipira kao zamašnjak promjena u svim područjima poslovanja. Došlo se do zaključka kako prednosti kartičnog plaćanja ima više nego mana, a kartično plaćanje postalo je imperativ za kvalitetno poslovanje i zadovoljstvo kupaca.The paper presents and analyzes the processes and challenges during the implementation of card business in retail in the digital process of transforming the company's business. The problem that has been described relates to the security of card business and the complexity of the fee model, which has an impact on the digital transformation of business. The main features of card business in today's modern business environment are listed and the results of empirical research on card business in retail are analyzed. The results of the research have shown that digital transformation plays an important role in the modern business environment and that business entities that did not invest in education and adapt to the latest technological achievements are increasingly lagging behind the competition. Furthermore, research that was carried out shows that the digital transformation of business is perceived as a flywheel of changes in all areas of business. It was concluded that there are more advantages than disadvantages of card payment, and thus it has become imperative for quality business and customer satisfaction

    Uloga žena u sportskome novinarstvu tema je o kojoj tek treba provesti brojna istraživanja budući da se uz položaj žena u sportskome novinarstvu, tradicionalno okarakteriziranome kao muškoj djelatnosti vežu implikacije koje imaju posljedice ne samo po žene već i po način na koje su one percipirane u očima šire javnosti. U završnome radu nastoji se prikazati koje su to posebnosti sportskog novinarstva u sklopu novinarske profesionalne djelatnosti te koja je aktualna uloga žena, profesionalnih sportskih novinarki u Republici Hrvatskoj. Položaj žena profesionalnih sportskih novinarski u sportskome novinarstvu u Hrvatskoj, u konkretnome radu se istražuje kroz sustavnu analizu izjava za medije najistaknutijih sportskih novinarki. U istraživanju se naglašava kakva je njihova uloga u aktualnome sportskom novinarstvu, budući da čine manjinu u toj branši te kako se ta činjenica odražava na njihovu karijeru na radnome mjestu.The role of women in sports journalism is a topic that still needs to be researched, since the position of women in sports journalism, traditionally characterized as a male activity, has implications that have consequences not only for these women, but also for the way they are perceived in the eyes wider public. The final paper tries to show what are the peculiarities of sports journalism as part of the journalistic professional activity, and what is the current role of women, professional sports journalists in the Republic of Croatia. The position of women professional sports journalists in sports journalism in Croatia is investigated in this specific paper through a systematic analysis of statements made to the media by the most prominent sports journalists. The research emphasizes what their role is in current sports journalism, since they are a minority in the latter branch, and how this fact reflects on their careers and workplace relationships

    Cilj ovog diplomskog rada bio je istražiti kako identificiranje i upravljanje rizicima utječe na dugoročno i profitabilno poslovanje malih turističkih poduzeća, s posebnim fokusom na Apartmane Centrum, dio poduzeća Tok d.o.o. Istraživanje je provedeno metodom kvalitativne analize kroz dubinske polustrukturirane intervjue s vlasnicima, zaposlenicima i gostima. Prikupljeni podaci pružili su uvid u ključne rizike i strategije upravljanja rizicima u ovom malom turističkom poduzeću. Teorijski okvir rada baziran je na literaturi o klasifikaciji rizika i strategijama upravljanja rizicima. Teorijske pretpostavke potvrđene su analizom poslovanja Apartmana Centrum, koja je pokazala da su najčešće korištene strategije smanjivanje ili ublažavanje rizika, prihvaćanje rizika i izbjegavanje rizika. Kvalitativna analiza otkrila je nekoliko ključnih operativnih rizika, uključujući fluktuaciju osoblja, poteškoće u pronalaženju kvalificiranih radnika te nedostatak dodatnih sadržaja. Tržišni rizici prepoznati su kroz promjene u potražnji i preferencijama gostiju, dok su financijski rizici uključivali probleme s likvidnošću i ograničen pristup kapitalu. Strateški rizici odnosili su se na dugoročno pozicioniranje poduzeća i njegove sposobnosti prilagodbe tržišnim promjenama. Svi ovi rizici utječu na operativnu efikasnost, kvalitetu usluge, konkurentnost i financijsku stabilnost poduzeća. Na temelju nalaza, preporučeno je nekoliko strategija za unapređenje upravljanja rizicima u Apartmanima Centrum. Preporučeno je proširenje dodatnih sadržaja i usluga u skladu s preferencijama ciljane gostujuće populacije te ostvarivanje partnerstava s lokalnim pružateljima usluga kako bi se gostima omogućile dodatne pogodnosti. Nadalje, kontinuirano ulaganje u nove tehnologije preporučeno je kako bi se održala efikasnost poslovanja i kvaliteta usluge. Integracija ekoloških praksi također se ističe kao važan korak za poboljšanje imidža poduzeća i privlačenje ekološki osviještenih gostiju.The aim of this thesis was to explore how identifying and managing risks affects the long-term and profitable operation of small tourism enterprises, with a specific focus on Apartments Centrum, part of Tok d.o.o. The research was conducted using qualitative analysis through in-depth semi-structured interviews with owners, employees, and guests. The collected data provided insights into the key risks and risk management strategies in this small tourism enterprise. The theoretical framework of the work is based on literature on risk classification and risk management strategies. The theoretical assumptions were confirmed by analyzing the operations of Apartments Centrum, which showed that the most commonly used strategies are risk reduction or mitigation, risk acceptance, and risk avoidance. Qualitative analysis revealed several key operational risks, including staff turnover, difficulties in finding qualified workers, and a lack of additional amenities. Market risks were identified through changes in demand and guest preferences, while financial risks included liquidity problems and limited access to capital. Strategic risks pertained to the company's long-term positioning and its ability to adapt to market changes. All these risks affect the operational efficiency, service quality, competitiveness, and financial stability of the company. Based on the findings, several strategies for improving risk management at Apartments Centrum were recommended. It was suggested to expand additional amenities and services in line with the preferences of the target guest population and to establish partnerships with local service providers to offer additional benefits to guests. Furthermore, continuous investment in new technologies was recommended to maintain business efficiency and service quality. The integration of ecological practices was also highlighted as an important step to improve the company's image and attract environmentally conscious guests

    Journalists' attitudes towards the use of artificial intelligence in journalism

    Cilj ovog rada bio je istražiti stavove novinara o korištenju umjetne inteligencije u novinarskom radu te ispitati imaju li mogućnost korištenja alata umjetne inteligencije na svojim radnim mjestima. U radu je dano teorijsko određenje pojmova umjetne inteligencije i njenog razvoja, navedena su obilježja umjetne inteligencije u novinarstvu te su prikazana ranija istraživanja teme. Istraživački dio rada proveden je u kolovozu 2023. godine na uzorku od 56 novinara. Istraživanjem je utvrđeno da se većina novinara ne koristi umjetnom inteligencijom u radu te da većina medijskih kuća novinarima ne pruža mogućnost edukacije na tom polju. U zaključku rada povezani su teoretski dijelovi te prethodna istraživanja s vlastitim istraživanjem. Također su dane preporuke za daljnje istraživanje teme.The aim of this paper is to explore journalists' attitudes towards the use of artificial intelligence in their work and to investigate whether they have the opportunity to utilize AI tools in their workplaces. The paper provides a theoretical framework for understanding artificial intelligence and its development, describes the characteristics of AI in journalism, and reviews previous studies on the topic. The research was conducted in August 2023 on a sample of 56 journalists. The findings revealed that most journalists do not use artificial intelligence in their work, and that most media organizations do not offer journalists opportunities for education in this area. In the conclusion section, the theoretical concepts and previous studies are integrated with the author's own research. Recommendations for further research on the topic are also provided

    Muzeji imaju ključnu ulogu u društvu te često svoju društvenu odgovornost smatraju esencijalnim dijelom svog poslovanja. Kao javne ustanove, njihova je zadaća prikupljanje, čuvanje, istraživanje i prezentacija kulturne baštine, pridonose i tako obrazovanju, kulturi i identitetu društva u kojem djeluju. Kroz svoje aktivnosti, muzeji imaju potencijal ostvariti pozitivan utjecaj na društvo te promicati vrijednosti poput obrazovanja, kulture, razumijevanja i tolerancije. Stoga je ključno da muzeji imaju jasnu viziju i strategiju za ostvarivanje svoje društvene odgovornosti, prilagođavaju i svoje aktivnosti potrebama i interesima zajednice u kojoj djeluju.Museums play a key role in society and often consider their social responsibility an essential part of their business. As public institutions, their task is to collect, preserve, research and present cultural heritage, thus contributing to the education, culture and identity of the society in which they operate. Through their activities, museums have the potential to have a positive impact on society and promote values such as education, culture, understanding and tolerance. It is therefore crucial that museums have a clear vision and strategy for realizing their social responsibility, adapting their activities to the needs and interests of the community in which they operate

    Motivacija se smatra jednim od glavnih faktora dobrog poslovanja i kvalitetnog rada zaposlenika dok je stres na poslu, u današnje vrijeme, jedan od glavnih zdravstvenih problema zaposlenika zbog čega se motvacija smanjuje, a pritom i kvaliteta rada. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je saznati iskustva zaposlenika na radnom mjestu hotelskog portira u luksuznim hrvatskim hotelima (Hotel Esplanade, Met Boutique, Art'otel i DoubleTree by Hilton). Za potrebe ovog istraživanja provedeni su polustrukturirani intervjui na deset hotelskih portira gdje su se analizirali izvori motivacije, što motivaciju kod njih potiče, a što ju smanjuje, što im uzrokuje najveći stres i koje su metode njegovog smanjivanja. Glavni nalazi ovog istraživanja što se tiče stresa jest da stres zaposlenicima najviše izazivaju gosti radije nego li menadžment. Najčešće se radi o situacijama gdje su gosti nezadovoljni ili ne žele dopustiti dvosmjernu komunikaciju s hotelskim portirom, a oni kao zaposlenici ne mogu ništa napraviti. Poput gužva u parkirnim garažama, nemogućnost pronalaska hotelske sobe po ukusu gostiju ili jednostavno bezobrazan gost. Prilikom analiziranja rezultata vidljivo je kako ne postoji u analiziranim hotelima implementacija konkretnih rješenja kako bi se stresom na radnom mjestu upravljalo, ali bez obzira na stres na poslu, zaposlenici koji su intervjuirani bi preporučili ovaj posao drugim ljudima jer je zanimljiv i dinamičan te je više pozitivan nego li što je negativan. Što se tiče motivacije na radnom mjestu hotelskog portira, najviše ih motiviraju napojnice gostiju, točnije materijalna motivacija, ali priželjkuju povratnu informaciju menadžmenta ili nadređene osobe koja bi im više značila nego li materijalna motivacija. Otkriveno je kako ne postoji izražena motivacija napredovanja na radnom mjestu hotelskog portira te kako većini zaposlenika to nije posao koji žele raditi do kraja života. Ovo istraživanje potvrdilo je neka ranija istraživanja gdje zaposlenici više cijene ohrabrujuću riječ menadžera nego li što cijene napojnicu gosta.Motivation is considered one of the main factors of good business and high-quality work of employees, while stress at work, nowadays, is one of the main health problems of employees, due to which motivation decreases, and at the same time, the quality of work. The aim of this research was to find out the experiences of employees in the workplace of hotel porter in luxury Croatian hotels (Hotel Esplanade, Met Boutique, Art'otel and DoubleTree by Hilton). For the purposes of this research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten hotel porters, where sources of motivation were analyzed, what motivates them and what reduces it, what causes them the most stress and what are the methods of reducing it. The main findings of this research in terms of stress is that employees are mostly stressed by guests rather than management. Most often, it is about situations where guests are dissatisfied or do not want to allow two-way communication with the hotel porter, and they, as employees, cannot do anything. Like crowds in parking garages, inability to find a hotel room to the guests' liking or simply a rude guest. When analyzing the results, it is evident that there is no implementation of concrete solutions in the analyzed hotels to manage stress in the workplace, but regardless of the stress at work, the employees who were interviewed would recommend this job to other people because it is interesting and dynamic and is more positive rather than what is negative. As for the motivation at the hotel porter's workplace, they are mostly motivated by the tips of the guests, more precisely material motivation, but they wish for feedback from the management or a superior person, which would mean more to them than material motivation. It was discovered that there is no strong motivation to advance in the position of hotel porter and that for most employees it is not a job they want to do for the rest of their lives. This research confirmed some earlier research where employees value an encouraging word from a manager more than they value a tip from a guest

    Media coverage of femicide and public perception of the characteristics of reporting on femicide

    Cilj je rada analizirati zakonsku regulativu o medijskom izvještavanju o nasilju prema ženama i femicidu te utvrditi percepciju javnosti o izvještavanju o femicidu u hrvatskim medijima. U radu su definirani pojmovi novinarstvo, mediji, medijsko izvještavanje i femicid te je navedena i analizirana zakonska regulativa o medijskom izvještavanju o nasilju prema ženama i femicidu. Istraživanje je provedeno online u kolovozu 2024. godine na uzorku od 144 ispitanika (119 žena i 25 muškaraca). Istraživanjem je utvrđena percepcija ispitanika o poznavanju pojmova rodno uvjetovanog nasilja i femicida, o učestalosti medijskog izvještavanja o femicidu te o utjecaju medijskog izvještavanja na podizanje svijesti o femicidu. U zaključku je dosadašnje istraživanje povezano s teorijom i vlastitim istraživanjem uz preporuke za daljnja istraživanja o medijskom izvještavanju o femicidu.The aim of the paper was to analyze the legal regulations on the media coverage of violence against women and femicide as well as to determine the public's perception of femicide coverage in the Croatian media. The paper defines the terms journalism, media, media coverage and femicide, and lists and analyses the legal regulations on media coverage of violence against women and femicide. The survey was conducted online in August 2024 on a sample of 144 respondents, of whom 119 were women and 25 were men. The research yielded the respondents' perception of the knowledge of gender-based violence and femicide as concepts, of the frequency of media coverage of femicide, and of the impact of media coverage on raising femicide awareness. In the concluding chapter the previous research is connected to theory and own research with the recommendation for further research on media femicide coverage

    An analysis of the perception of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intentions among students of VERN' University

    Pozitivna percepcija poduzetništva važna je kako bi pojedinac razvio poduzetničke intencije, odnosno namjeru da se bavi poduzetništvom. Ona ovisi o njegovim individualnim osobinama te o njegovom okruženju i uvjetima. Cilj rada bio je ispitati percepciju poduzetništva i poduzetničke intencije studenata. Izabrana metoda istraživanja bila je anketni upitnik u kojem je sudjelovalo 130 studenata Sveučilišta VERN'. Rezultati su pokazali da novac ili financijska situacija, neovisnost te praćenje vlastitih strasti i interesa predstavljaju značajnu ulogu u percepciji poduzetništva studenata te da studenti prepoznaju realne zadaće i izazove vezane uz bavljenje poduzetništvom, kao i važnost poduzetničke edukacije. Također, pokazalo se da 51,6 % studenata ima poduzetničke tendencije, odnosno da 42,3 % planira započeti vlastiti poduzetnički pothvat nakon studija, 3,1 % navedeno planira učiniti tijekom studija te da je 6,2 % to već učinilo. Shodno tomu, može se reći da je među studentima značajna prisutnost poduzetničkih intencija.A positive perception of entrepreneurship is important for the development of entrepreneurial intentions, i.e., the intention to engage in entrepreneurship. It depends on one's individual characteristics, as well as their environment and conditions. This research aimed to examine the perception of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intentions among students. The chosen research method was a survey questionnaire in which 130 VERN' University students participated. The results showed that money or financial situation, independence, and following one's passions and interests play a significant role in the perception of entrepreneurship. Also, the results showed that students recognize the realistic tasks and challenges related to entrepreneurship, as well as the importance of entrepreneurial education. Furthermore, it was found that 51.6% of students exhibit entrepreneurial tendencies, with 42.3% planning to initiate their own entrepreneurial venture after completing their studies, 3.1% intending to do so during their academic pursuits, and 6.2% having already done so. Consequently, it can be asserted that the prevalence of entrepreneurial intentions among students is noteworthy
