Housemates
Moje misli — moji sustanari i ja — čangrizavi stanodavac. The work “Housemates” deals with irrational thoughts, especially those triggered by social anxiety and the pressures of contemporary capitalist society. These thoughts were amplified during my stay in a new, foreign environment during my Erasmus exchanges, where I felt like I didn’t fit in, and I tried to equate my sense of worth with productivity. Such negative thoughts have always been with me, like permanent housemates of my mind. Through the work “Housemates”, I confront these thoughts by giving each of them a three-dimensional form and a degree of anthropomorphism. By contemplating irrational thoughts as characters separate from my essential self, I realize that they have no malicious intentions; rather, they make me more considerate towards others, mindful of how I present myself and push me forward in my own artistic creation. They themselves are confused, just like me, about the extent to which I should be concerned with others’ perceptions of me. Each thought-character is described through its appearance, dimension, material, and an appropriate room-diorama, as well as through a residence permit document. These diverse organic rooms form my internal landscape, my mental space, a chaotic house where we all reside together. My thoughts — my housemates, and I — the grumpy landlord
Di-De-Rot, Design of the rotten
This work is an artistic-scientific research that critically analyzes the relationship between man, that is, Western society and nature through an anthropological prism, with an emphasis on the simultaneous and contradictory aspiration and rejection of animalistic characteristics and "primitive" instincts. The man of the Western, "civilized" society, through education, economy and technological progress, tends to elevate himself above nature and all the characteristics associated with the natural and instinctive. But man is a predator. Behind the closed doors of their elite circles at the top of the social "food chain", a point of development is reached when what was rejected and condemned is fetishized and resorted to debauchery and enjoyment in the extreme satisfaction of basic biological needs - hedonism in food, sex, drink, opiates... practicing selfish pleasures to the extreme harm everyone who is "below" the one who exercises them: other people, the environment, animals. Hedonism is nothing but a return to natural urges and their satisfaction. Human and animal motifs alternate with repeating patterns and layers of abstracted forms of plants and similar organic elements in the works created as a result of the research
To the Garden
Raspravlja o jedinstvu i sličnosti tema obrađenih u mitovima kultura diljem svijeta i postupcima kojima mitologija daje novo značenje okolini. Pisani dio uključuje i detaljni opis tehnika korištenih tijekom izrade matrica te primjenu obrađenih tema na izvedbu vizualnog rada. The practical portion of the graduate thesis To the Garden consists of three prints (I., II. and III.) created in the techniques soft-ground etching (vernis mou) and aquatint. The artwork explores the transformation of the common into the sublime through the vocabulary of mythology. This paper explains the fundamental ideas which inspired the artwork. It defines the meaning of mythology and its role in society throughout history, and the relationship between myth and nature as well as the connection between myth and art. It discusses the unanimity and similarities between themes developed in myths from cultures across the world, and the process through which mythology offers new meanings to its surroundings. The paper also includes a detailed account of techniques used throughout the printmaking process, as well as the correlation between discussed themes and practical development of the artwork
Application of Spectroscopic Methods for Characterization of Corrosion Products on Roman Coins and Proposal for Conservation-Restoration Treatment
This master thesis investigates the application of spectroscopic methods in the characterization of corrosion products on 14 Roman coins from two different sites and, based on the findings, suggests optimal conservation and restoration treataments. The paper is divided into three main parts. The first part provides the extensive theoretical background necessary for a full understanding of the research issue. It includes the historical context of Roman coins as artifacts and the numismatic analysis of the coins that are the subject of research. Furthermore, the importance and principle of functioning of the spectroscopic analyzes used in this research are discussed. In the last theoretical block, the corrosion processes specific to the bronzes are explained so as the methods of their control in the conservation profession are presented. The second part of the thesis consists of extensive conservation-restoration research carried out on the coins, which includes detailed documentation with the creation of 3D models of all the 14 coins, density measurements and FT-IR, XRD and XRF analyzes performed on selected coins. Based on the results of the analysis, various corrosion products were identified, among which no harmful chlorides were found. In the third part, based on the results of previous analyses, a proposal for conservation-restoration treatments was developed. The research highlights the importance of an interdisciplinary approach combining numismatics, archaeology, natural sciences and conservation-restoration to ensure the optimal preservation of these historic artifacts. The study concludes that advanced spectroscopic techniques can significantly contribute to a better understanding of corrosion processes and the development of more effective methods for the conservation of Roman coins
Synergy of Mediums and Genres in Visualization of Structural Correlation in Fine Arts Culture and Other Teaching Subjects
The purpose of this thesis was to propose games, exercises and tasks for art teachers to encourage art creativity in students by combining competences of Fine art culture and competencies of other teaching subjects based on structural correlation. Synergy of visual and auditory elements (using the incorporation of film and music genres in the tasks made) with motor and cognitive abilities through play and associations, this work dealt with creating tasks apllicable for wide age frame that covers the cross -section of topics from the fifth to the eighth grade of elementary school in the curiculum of teaching subject Fine art culture. During the research and the concept of content, questions have been imposed: '' Does structural correlation help students and teachers of art culture in the processing of fine arts syntax? and ''How humor affects atmosphere and communication in the learning process? '' The aim of the research was to propose two educational videos to art teachers and several games and tasks to stimulate creativity, using Dephi methods to check their views on the usefulness of humor and structural correlation in teaching and to check the quality of the proposed content in videos. Although the study was intended for art teachers, the proposed content of exercises and tasks that encourage creativity can be useful to all persons, especially those in creative areas, given that motivation is an unpredictable and universally desirable phenomenon. The tasks are based on the synergy of competences, structural correlation and strategies of lateral thinking and are imbued with humor. The videos were posted on the YouTube page and was hyperlinked within the Google Forms by which the data was collected. Videos have been shown to contain interesting tasks, and a consensus has been achieved over the claim that humor and structural correlation are useful tools in the teaching of Fine art culture
