"Conditions: Questioning the meaning of existence"

    No full text
In this thesis, the author paints characters from her own imagination using acrylic technique on canvas. She tries to express through these characters her most hidden states of consciousness, her biggest fears, doubts and reflections on the meaning of her own existence. Based on existentialist points of view, the work deals with the question of the meaning of human existence in general and the conditions and limitations (the absurdity) of human freedom with regard to free will, as well as being responsible. The basic intention of this thesis is that the author - through these invented and staged characters - tries to liberate herself from the conditions that are in many ways painful. Through the process of painting it is easier to deal with the absurdity of human freedom. Therefore, it can be said that this cycle of paintings is a kind of author's "confession". She admits her existential ̈nausea ̈, but also attempts to explain (to herself and others) what this really is about. Simultaneously, this cycle is also a kind of catharsis

Bogata povijest lokaliteta utvrde Sv. The rich history of the location of Saint Michael’s fortress mostly lies in its extremely favourable strategic position. First noticed in Eneolithic times, this place was continuously used (with occasional periods of total abandonment) almost until today. Known history of this location starts with Eneolithic findings, but somewhat more concrete evidence of life that comes in the form of a fort is dated to Justinian times, and later medieval times. Aside from the castle itself, the church and the monastery greatly contribute to the importance of the place. Last constructive intervention to this historical side has been made in the late 20th century, by building the relay antenna inside the fort

Prijenosom i povećavanjem na velike formate autorica želi poručiti svoj stav o važnosti skica nastalih u vidu šara bez jasnih intencija, čineći ih istaknuto vidljivima i dajući im zasluženo uočljivo mjesto u radu. Autoricu su pri realizaciji radova inspirirala djela njemačke umjetnice konceptualne orijentacije Hanna Darboven (1941-2009) i južnokorejskog umjetnika Kim Jung Gia (r. 1975).This final work is based on spontaneously executed lines, random sketches created on standard graphically shaped notebook sheets translating these drawings onto large prepared papers. By transferring and enlarging these drawings, the author wants to convey her position on the importance of sketches created in the form of doodles without clear intentions, making them prominently visible and giving them a well-deserved noticeable place in the work. The works were created by imitation; through manual application of paint on the paper and drawing of regular straight lines or cubes in order to get representation as close to the scenes from paper sheets of notebooks as possible. The author adds various lines, drawings and texts using various drawing techniques. In this process of drawing and, enlarging the motifs, the author allows herself a lack of concentration so that the imitation of the doodles from the notebook would be as faithful as a copy of the original process can be. The author was inspired by the works of German conceptual artist Hanne Darboven (1941-2009) and South Korean artist Kim Jung Gi (b. 1975)

    Beauty in ancient Egypt

Egipatska povijest svojim vidljivim ostatcima i mističnim narativom o nastanku i razvitku već stoljećima zaokuplja živote mnogih znanstvenika, stručnjaka i običnih zaljubljenika. There is something that draws people to Egyptian history. Whether it's the hieroglyphs, the pyramids, or the fact that cats are worshipped, there's clearly a lot of interest in this ancient civilization. Egyptian thinking was based on mathematics and canons, and as such they represent a distinct beauty for the Egyptian people. Numerous ancient peoples already valued the beauty of the human body as a miracle of Genesis. Egyptian history, with its visible remains and mystical narrative about its origin and development, has occupied the lives of many scientists, experts and ordinary lovers for centuries. The very word Egyptology today carries an overtone of pyramids, sphinxes, temples and pharaohs as the central figures of a civilization, whose influence was also transmitted to the surrounding societies of that time. With this work, we touch on the chronology of civilization, follow changes over time, and the development of hierarchical, religious, technological and cultural achievements. Egyptian civilization bases its progress primarily on the Nile River, which, in addition to basic nutrition, enables the transport of people and goods, but also ensures communication connections. Also in Egypt we have the mystical side, pharaohs with the status of divinity, gods who actively participate in human lives, the cult of death and a culture of fulfilled living. Archaeological findings of remains of clothing, footwear and everyday objects allow us to gain an insight into the way of life at that time and leave a link with traditions that have survived to the present day. One of these traditions is the use of cosmetics, which developed from the need for hygiene and protection from the sun, and turned into body beautification, the climax of which was the ritual mummification of the body of the deceased and preparation for eternal life. Cosmetics, in comparison, led to the development of medicine, while the beautification of the human body with color has persisted to the present day. Without exception and regardless of gender, men and women decorated their faces with decorative cosmetics, and one of the cult products is certainly kohl

This thesis is an installation based on a sculpture of the famous comic book hero Batman. The name of the work is Heroes Legacy. Thematically, the paper deals with the influence that the character of Batman left on the author, ie the values responsible for the existence of this relationship. Special attention is paid to the possibility of rethinking the way in which the author over time developed the relationship with Batman's character, the different phases and forms through which this relationship has been realized so far, and the possibility of its realization in the future. The author opted for the famous comic book hero because of his personal connection and long- standing fascination with him. He follows Batman as a character practically all his life, he knows almost everything that can be known about him. Such a continuous and intense relationship, in the opinion of the author, deserves a kind of dedication, one can also say thanks to the same character for keeping the author in the world of ideals for a long time. Awareness of the permanence of this relationship was the starting point of the decision to consider and implement the work. The work consists of a figure of Batman in plaster, in the position of preparation for the jump, and the silhouette of the mantle on the floor made of charcoal symbolizes continuity and change

To zapisivanje snova pomaže u introspektivnom shvaćanju sebe, tj. naše podsvijesti (S. Freud, C. Jung i psihologija nesvjesnog). This work was created as part of the teaching program of the Painting VI course. During the course the author of the final thesis agreed on a free topic with the head of the course, professor and mentor Nina Ivančić. The series of paintings titled "Dreaming" (I-VII) consists of seven works that resulted from a multi-year process of writing down dreams. The author started doing this in high school and the proces continued to this day for a little over a decade. Writing down of dreams helps in introspective understanding of ourselves, i.e. our subconscious (S. Freud, C. Jung and the psychology of the unconscious). After a certain period of tracking dreams the author noticed that certain motifs and situations repeat themselves. This goes even for the same places and situations that were previously dreamed. In the hope of a better understanding of her dreams, the author began to single out motifs expressed through symbols that are repeated in dreams (defined as archetypes in psychology), and are part of the collective (sub)consciousness. These recurring symbols are placed as central figure in the pictures - they are the motif around which the story is built. The story is told through colors and symbols, and by emphasizing certain colors as well as duality (strong color contrast; uniformly colored field/"wild" drawing with pastels...) which is present in most of the pictures, an effort is made to further emphasize the emotion experienced in the dream
