Analysis of pollution identified by cleanseanet in 2015-2022 period
Ovaj rad analizira onečišćenje morskog okoliša koristeći podatke prikupljene putem europskog satelitskog sustava CleanSeaNet (CSN) u razdoblju od 2015. do 2022. godine. CSN omogućuje praćenje izlijevanja nafte i drugih zagađivača u europskim i susjednim morima te pruža ključne informacije za prevenciju i hitne reakcije na ekološke incidente. Analizirani su podaci o broju opažanja, vrstama onečišćenja, njihovoj geografskoj distribuciji i korištenim satelitskim tehnologijama, poput Sentinel-1 i Radarsat-2.
Rezultati pokazuju da najveći udio u onečišćenjima čine mineralna ulja, dok se ostali zagađivači i prirodni fenomeni razlikuju ovisno o godini. Uočene su značajne fluktuacije u broju opažanja, pri čemu je 2020. godina imala najveći broj zabilježenih slučajeva. Također, analiza ukazuje na važnost daljnjeg razvoja satelitskih tehnologija i jačanja međunarodne suradnje u borbi protiv morskog onečišćenja. Ovim istraživanjem potvrđena je ključna uloga satelitskog praćenja u očuvanju morskog okoliša te potreba za stalnim unaprjeđenjem sustava monitoringa.This paper analyzes marine pollution using data collected through the European satellite system CleanSeaNet (CSN) from 2015 to 2022. CSN enables the monitoring of oil spills and other pollutants in European and neighboring seas, providing crucial information for prevention and rapid response to environmental incidents. The study examines data on the number of observations, types of pollution, their geographical distribution, and the satellite technologies used, such as Sentinel-1 and Radarsat-2.
The results indicate that mineral oils constitute the largest share of pollution, while other pollutants and natural phenomena vary by year. Significant fluctuations in the number of observations were noted, with 2020 recording the highest number of detected cases. Additionally, the analysis highlights the importance of further development of satellite technologies and strengthening international cooperation in combating marine pollution. This study confirms the essential role of satellite monitoring in preserving the marine environment and emphasizes the need for continuous improvements in monitoring systems
European union and Republic Croatia with regard to e-navigation concept
Ovaj diplomski rad analizira razvoj i primjenu koncepta e-Navigacije u kontekstu Europske unije i Republike Hrvatske. E-Navigacija, kao inicijativa Međunarodne pomorske organizacije (IMO), ima za cilj povećanje sigurnosti plovidbe, smanjenje nesreća i očuvanje morskog okoliša integracijom suvremenih navigacijskih i komunikacijskih tehnologija. Europska unija podržava ovaj koncept kroz vlastitu inicijativu EU e-Maritime, koja je šireg opsega i obuhvaća digitalizaciju administrativnih i logističkih procesa u pomorstvu. Rad objašnjava kako političke, tako i strateške, okvire unutar kojih se razvija e-Navigacija, te povezanost između europskih i međunarodnih inicijativa. U radu su detaljno obrađeni brojni EU projekti i testne platforme koji podupiru razvoj e-Navigacije, kao i doprinos Republike Hrvatske kroz postojeće inicijative, tehničku infrastrukturu i potencijale za daljnju implementaciju. Zaključno, rad naglašava važnost koordiniranog djelovanja, tehničke modernizacije i međunarodne suradnje za uspješnu implementaciju e-Navigacije u Hrvatskoj, uz istodobno ostvarenje strateških ciljeva Europske unije u pomorskom sektoru.This thesis analyzes the development and implementation of the e-Navigation concept within the context of the European Union and the Republic of Croatia. E-Navigation, initiated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), aims to enhance navigational safety, reduce maritime accidents, and protect the marine environment by integrating modern navigation and communication technologies. The European Union supports this concept through its broader EU e-Maritime initiative, which focuses on the digitalization of administrative and logistical processes in maritime transport. The paper outlines the political and strategic frameworks that support the development of e-Navigation and examines the connections between European and international initiatives. Numerous EU-funded projects and test platforms that promote the development of e-Navigation are explored in detail, along with the Republic of Croatia’s contributions through its current initiatives, technical infrastructure, and potential for further implementation. In conclusion, the thesis emphasizes the importance of coordinated efforts, technical modernization, and international cooperation for the successful implementation of e-Navigation in Croatia, while also achieving the strategic objectives of the European Union in the maritime sector
Salvage contract
Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se ugovorom o spašavanju temeljem kojeg se obavljaju operacije spašavanja imovine na moru. Ugovor je pravni posao koji nastaje iz suglasnog očitovanja volja dviju ili više stranaka čiji je cilj uspostavljanje međusobnih odnosa i uređivanje postanka, prestanka i promjene tih odnosa. U okviru pomorskog prava spašavanje se definira kao svaka neophodna i korisna usluga i pomoć pružena osobama i imovini na moru koji se nađu u opasnosti. Prilikom sklapanja ugovora o spašavanju, zapovjednik broda, brodar ili vlasnik broda u opasnosti obvezuju se spašavatelju isplatiti određenu naknadu – nagradu za spašavanje koja je limitirana vrijednošću spašene imovine. Kako bi se nagrada realizirala uzima se u obzir davno utemeljeno načelo no cure - no pay, što u prijevodu znači da bez uspjeha nema ni nagrade za spašavanje.This thesis deals with the study of the contract on salvage of assets at sea. A contract is a legal transaction that results from the unanimous expression of the will of two or more parties, the goal of which is to establish mutual relations and regulate the origin, termination and change of those relations. Salvage from the aspect of maritime law defines any necessary and useful service and assistance provided to persons and property at sea who find themselves in danger. When entering into a salvage contract, the ship's captain, shipowner or ship owner agrees for a certain fee, which is regulated by the value of the salvaged items, to provide assistance in removing the ship, cargo and persons from danger. In order to realize the compensation, the English principle "no cure - no pay" is taken into account, in translation without success, there is no reward, and in case of unsuccessful removal of the object of the contract from danger, compensation is not obtained
The impact of maritime terrorism of the safety of navigation
U ovom diplomskom radu predmet istraživanja jest pomorski terorizam koji predstavlja ozbiljnu
prijetnju globalnoj sigurnosti plovidbe, ugrožavajući trgovinske rute, ekonomske interese i živote
pomoraca. Ovaj rad analizira obilježja suvremenog pomorskog terorizma te njegovu evoluciju kroz
povijest, s posebnim naglaskom na promjene u metodama napada. Geografski fokus stavljen je na
područja poput Adenskog zaljeva, Crvenog mora i tjesnaca Bab el-Mandeb, gdje su terorističke prijetnje
najizraženije i izravno utječu na sigurnost plovidbe. Također, istražuje se utjecaj regionalnih aktera na
pomorski terorizam te njihove strategije i operacije u kritičnim morskim prolazima. Pravne mjere koje
poduzima Međunarodna pomorska organizacija (engl. International Maritime Organization – IMO) za
suzbijanje pomorskog terorizma analizirane su kroz međunarodne propise i smjernice, uključujući
Međunarodnu konvenciju o sprječavanju protupravnih akata protiv sigurnosti pomorske plovidbe (engl.
Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation – SUA).
Zaključno, rad ističe nužnost međunarodne suradnje, poboljšanja sigurnosnih protokola i jačanja pravnih
okvira kako bi se smanjila prijetnja pomorskog terorizma i osigurala sigurna plovidba svjetskim morima.In this thesis, the subject of research is maritime terrorism, which poses a serious threat to global
navigation security, endangering trade routes, economic interests and the lives of seafarers. This paper
analyzes the characteristics of contemporary maritime terrorism and its evolution throughout history, with
special emphasis on changes in attack methods. The geographical focus is placed on areas such as the
Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, where terrorist threats are most pronounced and
directly affect navigation security. It also examines the influence of regional actors on maritime terrorism
and their strategies and operations in critical sea passages. The legal measures taken by the International
Maritime Organization (IMO) to combat maritime terrorism are analyzed through international
regulations and guidelines, including the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the
Safety of Maritime Navigation (SUA). In conclusion, the paper emphasizes the necessity of international
cooperation, improving security protocols and strengthening legal frameworks in order to reduce the
threat of maritime terrorism and ensure safe navigation on the world's seas
Special Purpose Ports in Republic of Croatia
U ovom sveobuhvatnom radu o lukama posebne namjene u Republici Hrvatskoj, cilj je bio istražiti i analizirati funkcionalnost, značaj i utjecaj ovih luka na pomorski sektor države. Da bi se postigao ovaj cilj, rad je koncipiran u pet poglavlja koja su se bavila različitim aspektima morskih luka.
U prvom dijelu rada definirani su osnovni čimbenici koji određuju morske luke, poput uvjeta koji su potrebni za njihovo postojanje, njihove funkcije, djelatnosti, planiranje i aktivnosti unutar luka. Posebno je naglašena kategorizacija morskih luka prema njihovoj namjeni. Drugo poglavlje se bavi pravnim položajem morskih luka u Republici Hrvatskoj, dok treće poglavlje istražuje njihov povijesni i trenutačni razvoj, te promjene u njihovoj strukturi i operativnosti.
Treći dio rada detaljno analizira luke posebne namjene u Republici Hrvatskoj, dajući pregled različitih vrsta ovih luka, od vojnih do industrijskih, ribarskih i sportskih. U ovom dijelu također je provedena komparativna analiza odabranih luka posebne namjene.
Četvrto poglavlje pruža uvid u percepciju i perspektivu o lukama posebne namjene kroz aspekt fokus grupe stručnjaka iz različitih sektora, koristeći tehniku fokus grupe kao kvalitativnu istraživačku tehniku.
Na osnovu istraživanja provedenog u ovom radu, zaključeno je da luke posebne namjene igraju presudnu ulogu u pomorskoj industriji Hrvatske, s obzirom na njihovu raznolikost i specifične funkcije. Razumijevanje kompleksnosti i važnosti ovih luka, kao i njihova pravna, povijesna i trenutna pozicija, ključno je za daljnje unapređenje ovog sektora.In this comprehensive work on special purpose ports in the Republic of Croatia, the goal was to investigate and analyze the functionality, significance and impact of these ports on the maritime sector of the country. In order to achieve this goal, the work was conceived in five chapters that dealt with different aspects of seaports.
In the first part of the paper, the basic factors that determine seaports are defined, such as the conditions necessary for their existence, their functions, activities, planning and activities within the port. The categorization of seaports according to their purpose is particularly emphasized. The second chapter deals with the legal position of seaports in the Republic of Croatia, while the third chapter examines their historical and current development, as well as changes in their structure and operation.
The third part of the paper analyzes in detail the special purpose ports in the Republic of Croatia, giving an overview of the different types of these ports, from military to industrial, fishing and sports. In this part, a comparative analysis of selected special purpose ports was also carried out.
The fourth chapter provides an insight into the perception and perspective of special purpose ports through the aspect of a focus group of experts from different sectors, using the focus group technique as a qualitative research technique.
Based on the research conducted in this paper, it was concluded that special purpose ports play a crucial role in the maritime industry of Croatia, considering their diversity and specific functions. Understanding the complexity and importance of these ports, as well as their legal, historical and current position, is essential for the further improvement of this sector
Control of elevator system on cruiser
Cilj ovog diplomskog rada bio je analizirati tehničke karakteristike i specifične
prilagodbe brodskih dizala na brodovima za kružna putovanja, s posebnim naglaskom na
njihovu važnost za sigurnost i efikasnost putničkog prijevoza. U radu je istražen povijesni
razvoj i konstrukcija dizala na brodovima za kružna putovanja, kao i ključne razlike u
odnosu na dizala na kopnu, a poseban primjer bio je kruzer Symphony of the Seas. Kroz
analizu pogonskih i upravljačkih sustava, rad daje uvid u specifične tehničke zahtjeve
brodskih dizala u pomorskom okruženju. Simulacijom vremenskog odziva ilustrirana je
optimizacija rada dizala koja poboljšava korisničko iskustvo i vertikalni protok putnika.
Zaključeno je da brodska dizala imaju ključnu ulogu u osiguravanju udobnosti, sigurnosti i
efikasnosti na suvremenim kruzerima.The primary objective of this thesis was to examine the technical characteristics
and specific adaptations of ship elevators on cruise vessels, emphasizing their role in
ensuring passenger safety and transportation efficiency. The study examined the historical
development and construction of cruise ship elevators, as well as key differences compared
to land-based elevators, using the Symphony of the Seas as a case example. Through an
analysis of drive and control systems, the thesis provides insight into the unique technical
requirements of marine elevators. A simulation of elevator response time demonstrated the
optimization of elevator operations to enhance passenger experience and vertical flow. It is
concluded that ship elevators play a crucial role in ensuring comfort, safety, and efficiency
on modern cruise ships
Turbine marine propulsion systems
Pomorski promet predstavlja najjeftiniju metodu prijevoza jer osim izgradnje prihvatnih terminala za teret ili putnike nije potrebno ulagati u postojeće pomorske puteve, a ekonomskoj isplativosti pomorskog prometa pridonose i veliki prijevozni kapaciteti brodova. Iako, zamršenost brodskog strojnog kompleksa za časnike stroja postojećih brodova predstavlja veliki izazov u pomorstvu kao stalno razvijajućoj industriji u smislu prilagodbe na postojeće i nove tehnologije prisutne na brodovima. Diplomski rad iznosi raščlambu i teoretsku analizu, način rada i primjenu brodskih pogonskih sustava koji kao primarne pokretače koriste parne ili plinske turbine, uz mogućnost njihove kombinacije. Naglasak se stavlja na provedeni energetski proračun parne turbine ugrađene na postojećem brodu i postavljeni dijagnostički model pomoću kojega se može odrediti kvaliteta radnog ciklusa i njegova stabilnost kod brodskih parnih i plinskih turbina.Maritime traffic represents the cheapest method of transport since there is no need for investment in existing maritime routes except of construction of discharge terminals for the cargo or passengers and to economical rentability contribute large transport capacities of ships. Although, complexity of ship machinery space for engineering officers on existing ships represents a big challenge in maritime industry as constant developing industry in terms of adaptation on existing and new technologies present onboard ships. Diploma paper amounts division and theoretical analysis, working principle and application of ship propulsion systems which use steam or gas turbines as prime movers with possibility of their combination. Accent is being put on conducted energy calculus of the steam turbine installed on existing vessel and placed diagnostic model which can help in the conclusion of working cycle quality and stability of marine steam and gas turbines
Optimation of ship propulsion plants
U ovom radu proučena su brodska pogonska postrojenja. U sadašnjem vremenu osim
klasičnih postrojenja, kao što su: parnoturbinska, dizel električna, dizel motorna razvijaju
se sve više hibridna postrojenja. Hibridna tehnologija je tehnologija koja kombinira više
vrsta pogona uključujući i baterije i gorivne članke koji se sve više se razvijaju, iako se
opet u brodskim uvjetima postavlja pitanje njihove primjenjivosti.
Postrojenje koje je detaljno obrađeno u ovom radu je plinska turbina Proteus 52M/558 u
kojoj su pogonska i kompresorska turbina međusobno mehanički nezavisne. Analizirana je
izlazna snaga brodske plinske turbine u ovisnosti o najutjecajnijim parametrimai
to:atmosferski tlak, pad tlaka na usisu, broj okretaja kompresora, broj okretaja pogonske
turbine te protutlak ispušnog voda. Na temelju mjerenja utjecajnih parametara
dijagnosticiralo se stanje plinske turbine i optimizirao se rad postrojenja.In this paper, ship propulsion systems have been studied. In the present time, alongside
conventional propulsion systems, such as steam turbine, diesel-electric, and diesel engine
systems, hybrid propulsion systems are increasingly being developed. Hybrid technology
integrates multiple propulsion types, including batteries and fuel cells, which are
experiencing significant advancements. However, their applicability in maritime condition
although again in remains a subject of debate.
The propulsion system examined in detail in this paper is the Proteus 52M/558 gas turbine,
where the power turbine and compressor turbine operate mechanically independently. The
output power of the marine gas turbine has been analyzed based on the most influential
parameters including atmospheric pressure, intake pressure drop, compressor speed, power
turbine speed, and exhaust back pressure. Based on the measurement of these influential
parameters, the condition of the gas turbine was diagnosed, and the operation of the system
was optimized
Influence of cybernetic threats on reliability of navigational equipment
Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se istraživanjem kibernetičke sigurnosti na brodovima i analizom utjecaja napada na pouzdanost navigacijske opreme. Osnove kibernetike kao znanstvene discipline su definirane i ukratko predstavljene, zajedno s njenom primjenom u modernim brodskim sustavima. Detaljno su opisani komunikacijski protokoli koji se koriste na brodovima, uključujući njihove prednosti i nedostatke. Rad identificira uobičajene vrste kibernetičkih napada uključujući primjer općeg kibernetičkog napada i preporuke za povećanje pouzdanosti i zaštite sustava. Također se razmatraju unutarnje brodske mreže i povezani navigacijski sustavi, s kratkim objašnjenjem principa njihovog rada. U radu se analiziraju pojedini zabilježeni slučajevi kibernetičkih napada. Na kraju se analiziraju vektori napada, mjere prevencije i predostrožnosti, te postupci reakcije na aktivne prijetnje. Rad završava s preporukama i najboljim praksama za unapređenje opće kibernetičke sigurnosti.This thesis investigates cyber security on ships and analysing the impact of attacks on the reliability of navigation equipment. The basics of cybernetics as a scientific discipline are defined and briefly presented, as well as its application in modern ship systems. The communication protocols used on ships are described in detail, including their advantages and disadvantages. Common types of cyber-attacks are highlighted, including an example of a common cyber-attack and recommendations for increasing the protection and reliability of systems. Internal networks on board ships and the associated navigation systems are also discussed and their operating principles briefly explained. The paper analyses individual documented cases of cyber-attacks. Finally, attack vectors, prevention and precautionary measures and response procedures to active threats are analysed. The paper concludes with recommendations and best practices for improving overall cyber security
Augmented reality techniques in maritime
Ovaj diplomski rad daje pregled trenutnog stanja i budući potencijal tehnologije proširene stvarnosti (AR) u pomorstvu. Sustavnim pregledom znanstvene literature analiziraju se primjene, prednosti, izazovi i budući smjerovi istraživanja AR-a u različitim pomorskim sektorima uključujući navigaciju, obuku, održavanje i operacije. Iako AR obećava u poljima poput poboljšanja sigurnosti, učinkovitosti i donošenja odluka u pomorstvu, potrebno je riješiti nekoliko tehničkih i praktičnih izazova za široku primjenu. Predstavljeno je okružje Unity i prikazan rad aplikacije na primjeru.This thesis provides an overview of the current state and future potential of augmented reality (AR) technology in the maritime sector. A systematic review of the scientific literature analyzes the applications, advantages, challenges and future research directions of AR in various maritime sectors including navigation, training, maintenance and operations. Although AR holds promise in areas such as improving safety, efficiency and decision-making in maritime, several technical and practical challenges need to be addressed for widespread adoption. The Unity environment is presented and an example application is demonstrated
