azotowano. W celu ustalenia rozkładów głębokościowych koncentracji poszczególnych
pierwiastków w uformowanej powłoce, w warstwie przejściowej oraz w podłożu
zastosowano techniki jądrowe Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy i Nuclear
Reaction Analysis (RBS/NRA). Do określenia wiązań chemicznych w uformowanych
oznaczaniu stężenia Pb, Zn i K w próbkach bielic tatrzańskich. Analizy wykonano różnymi
metodami analitycznymi PIXE (Proton Induced X-ray Emission), AAS (Absorption Atomic
Spectroscopy) oraz spektroskopią promieniowania gamma. Wyniki porównano ze sobą.
Pomiary wykonane tymi trzema różnymi technikami pomiarowymi pozwoliły na oszacowanie zawartości Pb, Zn i K w granicach błędu statystycznego potwierdzając wzajemnie poprawność dokonanych oznaczeń.
The electron-proton collider HERA with centre of mass system energy of about 300 GeV has extended the available kinematic regime in deep inelastic scattering to low values of Bjorken-x (10−5−10−3) and made possible studies of the QCD dynamics in this region. The processes in which partons carry a very small fraction of the proton momentum may show deviations from the standard DGLAP dynamics and it is believed that their correct description is provided by the BFKL evolution formalism. Low x phenomena have been initially studied with the HERA data on F2 structure function and later with more exclusive measurements of the hadronic final state. In this report recent results of these studies and especially dedicated measurements of jets and π◦ mesons, produced close to the proton remnant, are reviewed. The data are used to discriminate between QCD models with different parton evolution approximations. For completeness, measurements at e+e− and p¯p colliders sensitive to the BFKL dynamics are also described
Preliminary test of the scintillator with optical fiber (SOF) detector in a pulsed thermal neutron experiment
A scintillator with an optical fiber detector (SOF) consists of a small amount of the
ZnS(Ag) scintillator mixed with a transparent adhesive material and a thermal neutron
converter (6LiF). It is tightly connected to the tip of an optical fiber. The other tip is optically
coupled with a small photomultiplier. The SOF detector was assembled and checked in
Institute of Nuclear Physics (IFJ PAN). A preliminary test has been done to compare the SOF detector and the 3He proportional counter which has been used for a long time in the pulsed neutron experiments carried out in the Neutron Transport Physics Laboratory (IFJ). It was find that the SOF detector may be used successfully instead of the 3He proportional detector. Small dimmensions of the detector (diameter is about 2 mm) allow to obtain accurate information on the spatial distribution of the thermal neutron flux inside a small investigated system
Przystosowywanie cyklotronu AIC-144 do zastosowań medycznych część 2. Korekta pola magnetycznego, modernizacja traktu wiązki
The AIC-144 cyclotron at the Institute of Nuclear has been upgraded to produce the beams, which could be applied for proton radiotherapy of eye melanoma. For the improvement of quality of ion beam is necessary to better precision of forming the magnetic field inside the cyclotron chamber. It has been described the interdependent of precision of fitting the chamber of the cyclotron against ferrous pole pieces of the electromagnet on the magnetic field. Modernization of transporting ion beam to place of proton radiotherapy is described. Special emphasis is given to simplification of configuration of that transport and advantages of that modernization
W pracy zastosowano metodę Ion Beam Sputter Deposition (IBSD) do formowania powłok węglowych typu ta-C oraz powłok typu SiCX i SiXNY. Do określenia wiązań chemicznych a więc pośrednio mikrostruktury powłok zastosowano konfokalną mikrospektroskopię Ramanowską. Do określenia rozkładów głębokościowych poszczególnych pierwiastków w powłoce oraz w podłożu zastosowano metody spektroskopii jądrowej Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS) oraz Nuclear Reaction Analysis (NRA). Określono własności mechaniczne uformowanych układów. Uformowane powłoki charakteryzują się złożoną, zmieniającą się z głębokością mikrostrukturą powstałą w wyniku dynamicznych procesów zachodzących w silnie zjonizowanym ośrodku
The thermoluminescence glow-curve analysis using GlowFit - the new powerful tool for deconvolution
A new computer program, GlowFit, for deconvoluting first-order kinetics
thermoluminescence (TL) glow-curves has been developed. A non-linear function describing a single glow-peak is fitted to experimental points using the least squares Levenberg- Marquardt method. The main advantage of GlowFit is in its ability to resolve complex TL glow-curves consisting of strongly overlapping peaks, such as those observed in heavilydoped LiF:Mg,Ti (MTT) detectors. This resolution is achieved mainly by setting constraints or by fixing selected parameters. The initial values of the fitted parameters are placed in the so-called pattern files. GlowFit is a Microsoft Windows-operated user-friendly program. Its graphic interface enables easy intuitive manipulation of glow-peaks, at the initial stage (parameter initialization) and at the final stage (manual adjustment) of fitting peak parameters to the glow-curves. The program is freely downloadable from the web site www.ifj.edu.pl/dept/no5/nz58/deconvolution.ht
Measurements of the effective thermal neutron absorption cross-section in multi-grain model
The effective macroscopic absorption cross-section Σaeff of thermal neutrons in a grained medium differs from the corresponding cross-section Σahom in the homogeneous medium consisting of the same components, contributing in the same amounts. The ratio of these cross-sections defines the grain parameter, G, which is a measure of heterogeneity of the system for neutron absorption. Heterogeneous models have been built as two- or three-component systems (Ag, Cu and Co3O4 grains distributed in a regular grid in Plexiglas, in various proportions between them). The effective absorption cross-section has been measured and the experimental grain parameter has been found for each model. The obtained values are in the interval 0.34 < G < 0.58, while G = 1 means the homogeneous material
Development of the IFJ Single Ion Hit facility for cells ir r adiation
In recent years a single ion hit facility (SIHF) has been constructed at the IFJ ion
microprobe. The setup is used for the precise irradiations of living cells by a controlled
number of ions. The facility allows investigations in various aspects of biomedical
research, such as adaptive response, bystander effect, inverse dose-rate effect, low-dose hypersensitivity, etc. Those investigations have two very important requirements: (i) cells must be examined in their natural state and environment, i.e. without previously being killed, and preferentially, neither fixed nor stained, and (ii) a possibility of automatic irradiation of large number of cells with a computer recognition of their positions must be provided. This work presents some of the crucial features of the off-line and on-line optical systems, including self-developed software responsible for the automatic cell recognition. We also show several tests carried out to determine the efficiency of the whole setup and some segments. In conclusion, the results of our first irradiation measurements performed with living cells are demonstrated
Monte Carlo simulations of the pulsed thermal neutron flux in two-region hydrogenous systems (using standard MCNP data libraries)
Monte Carlo simulations of the pulsed neutron experiment in two- region systems (two
concentric spheres and two coaxial finite cylinders) are presented. The MCNP code is used. Aqueous solutions of H3BO3 or KCl are used in the inner region. The outer region is the moderator of Plexiglas. Standard data libraries of the thermal neutron scattering cross-sections of hydrogen in hydrogenous substances are used. The time-dependent thermal neutron transport is simulated when the inner region has a constant size and the external size of the surrounding outer region is variable. The time decay constant of the thermal neutron flux in the system is found in each simulation. The results of the simulations are compared with results of real pulsed neutron experiments on the corresponding systems
