latach stanowiła przedmiot licznych analiz politologicznych i prawnych
w publikacjach książkowych i artykułach.
Autorki recenzowanej publikacji wykraczają jednak ponad grunt krajowy
i na kanwie doświadczeń kilku państw charakteryzują i przybliżają funkcjonowanie
budżetów obywatelskich/partycypacyjnych na obszarze grupy Wyszehradzkiej
(V4). Książka powstała jako zwieńczenie projektu Civic Budgets
in V4 Countries finansowanego z funduszu Wyszehradzkiego i stanowi swego
rodzaju kontynuację/rozwinięcie zagadnienia partycypacji społecznej w państwach

Long-Term Skin Temperature Changes after Breast Cancer Radiotherapy
The aim of the study was to use thermal imaging to evaluate long-term chest temperature changes in patients who had previously been treated with radiotherapy. The examination with a thermal imaging camera involved 144 women—48 of them were patients after RT, 48 were females before breast cancer radiotherapy and the last group of participants were 48 healthy women. All patients (before and after radiotherapy) were divided into women after mastectomy and those after conservative surgery. In addition, the first group of women, those who had received radiotherapy, were divided into three other groups: up to 1 year after RT, over 1 year and up to 5 years after RT and over 5 years after RT. Due to this, it was possible to compare the results and analyse the differences between the temperature in the healthy and treated breasts. The comparison of obtained temperature results showed that the area treated by ionizing radiation is characterized by a higher temperature even a few years after the finished treatment. It is worth mentioning that despite the fact that the difference was visible on the thermograms, the patients had no observable skin lesion or change in color at the treatment site. For the results of the study provided for the group of healthy patients, there were no significant differences observed between the average temperatures in the breasts. The use of thermal imaging in the evaluation of skin temperature changes after radiotherapy showed that the average temperature in the treated breast area can change even a long time after treatment
Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka’s phenomenology of life and its connections with Roman Ingarden’s phenomenology
The aim of the article is to present those elements in classical phenomenology which inspired Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka (1923 – 2014) to develop her own concept of the phenomenology of life and the creative human condition. There-fore, her philosophical position will not be presented with references to the key questions of transcendental phenomenology, since she never argued with Ed-mund Husserl. Tymieniecka clearly emphasized the fact that it was otherwise, claiming that she conducted a polemic on the ontological and metaphysical, and consequently also anthropological ground with Roman Ingarden (1893 – 1970) – her teacher and mentor from the time of philosophical studies at the Jagiello-nian University in Poland in 1945 – 1947. And this philosopher’s thought was the main reason for the phenomenological path she chose
Trichoderma spp. Genes Involved in the Biocontrol Activity Against Rhizoctonia solani
ChileRhizoctonia solani is a pathogen that causes considerable harm to plants worldwide. In the absence of hosts, R. solani survives in the soil by forming sclerotia, and management methods, such as cultivar breeding, crop rotations, and fungicide sprays, are insufficient and/or inefficient in controlling R. solani. One of the most challenging problems facing agriculture in the twenty-first century besides with the impact of global warming. Environmentally friendly techniques of crop production and improved agricultural practices are essential for long-term food security. Trichoderma spp. could serve as an excellent example of a model fungus to enhance crop productivity in a sustainable way. Among biocontrol mechanisms, mycoparasitism, competition, and antibiosis are the fundamental mechanisms by which Trichoderma spp. defend against R. solani, thereby preventing or obstructing its proliferation. Additionally, Trichoderma spp. induce a mixed induced systemic resistance (ISR) or systemic acquired resistance (SAR) in plants against R. solani, known as Trichoderma-ISR. Stimulation of every biocontrol mechanism involves Trichoderma spp. genes responsible for encoding secondary metabolites, siderophores, signaling molecules, enzymes for cell wall degradation, and plant growth regulators. Rhizoctonia solani biological control through genes of Trichoderma spp. is summarized in this paper. It also gives information on the Trichoderma-ISR in plants against R. solani. Nonetheless, fast-paced current research on Trichoderma spp. is required to properly utilize their true potential against diseases caused by R. solani
Dwory i otoczenie Piastów świdnicko-jaworskich (1278-1368)
The main subject of the dissertation is the people surrounding the Świdnica-Jawor Piasts, one
of the lines of the Silesian dukes ruling in the 13th and 14th centuries. The work consists of
seven chapters. The first chapter presents the territorial range of the Świdnica-Jawor Duchy in
1278-1368. The second chapter provides an insight into the history and competencies of the
court offices. In addition, the chapter incorporates an explanation of the functioning of
Capella at the ducal court. Similarly, the next chapter characterizes the offices of territorial
administration, the governance of which is considered to qualify for the ducal entourage. In
the following four chapters, the author reconstructed each of the Świdnica-Jawor dukes'
entourage and the court personnel. The Biographies part consists of short biographies of
people who belonged to the court and dukes' entourage. The last part of the work provides an
analysis of the ethnic origins of the people serving the dukes of Świdnica and Jawor, as well
as a description of the culture and customs existing at the ducal courts
A decade of glaciological and meteorological observations in the Arcti (Werenskioldbreen, Svalbard)
The warming of the Arctic climate is well documented, but the mechanisms of Arctic amplification are still not fully understood. Thus, monitoring of glaciological and meteorological variables and the environmental response to accelerated climate warming must be continued and developed in Svalbard. Long-term meteorological observations carried out in situ on glaciers in conjunction with glaciological monitoring are rare in the Arctic and significantly expand our knowledge about processes in the polar environment. This study presents glaciological and meteorological data collected for 2009–2020 in southern Spitsbergen (Werenskioldbreen). The meteorological data are composed of air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, short-wave and long-wave upwelling and downwelling radiation on 10 min, hourly and daily resolution (2009–2020). The snow dataset includes 49 data records from 2009 to 2019 with the snow depth, snow bulk density and snow water equivalent data. The glaciological data consist of seasonal and annual surface mass balance measurements (point and glacier-wide) for 2009–2020. The paper also includes modelling of the daily glacier surface ablation (2009–2020) based on the presented data. The datasets are expected to serve as local forcing data in hydrological and glaciological models as well as validation of calibration of remote sensing products
Supramolecular structures of self-assembled oligomers under confinement
We study the molecular origin of a prepeak (PP) observed at low q values in the structure factors
of three oligomers in a bulk (poly(mercaptopropyl)methylsiloxane, PMMS, poly(methylmercaptopropyl)-
grafted-hexylmethacrylate, PMMS-g-HMA, and poly(methylphenyl)siloxane, PMPS) in order to
understand the lowering of the PP intensity detected for oligomers confined in cylindrical pores with
low diameter. For this purpose, we use a combination of X-ray diffraction measurements and coarsegrained
bead-spring molecular dynamics simulations. Our molecular modelling demonstrated that the
planarity of the pendant groups triggers the self-association of oligomers into nanoaggregates.
However, the formation of oligomeric nanodomains is not sufficient for building-up the PP. The latter
requires spatial disturbance in the arrangement of the side groups of oligomers within clusters.
Importantly, our numerical analysis revealed that the increasing degree of the confinement of oligomers
limits their aggregation and consequently lowers the amplitude of the PP observed in the
experimental data
How Do Poles Perceive Schizophrenia? Furnham and Chan’s Questionnaire in Poland
Introduction: Individuals with psychosis spectrum disorders may be negatively
affected by exclusion and rejection. It is important to answer “why”?
This article presents social representations of schizophrenia in Polish society.
Aims: The study’s aim was to examine the properties of the sixty-item questionnaire
on attitudes, attribution and beliefs about schizophrenia in the
Polish sample and to compare the results with the results obtained in the
English-Chinese sample.
Methods: The study included 398 participants (aged 19–74); all were
working persons. Furnham and Chan created the questionnaire, a tool
containing 60 items describing general beliefs about schizophrenia, causal
explanations in the etiology of schizophrenia, as well as beliefs about the
role of hospitals and society in the treatment of schizophrenia. Factor analysis
(PAF) was carried out separately for three parts of the tool.
Results: The structure of the questionnaire that was obtained on the Polish
sample differs from that obtained on the English-Chinese sample. Some
factors remain similar. Reliability analysis based on Cronbach’s Alpha
values reached satisfactory levels in most of the factors revealed.
Conclusions: The questionnaire is a reliable tool for examining social representations
of schizophrenia. The Polish sample does not show punitive
inclinations, does not attribute negative traits to schizophrenics, and does
not agree to creating social distance
Mindfulness, relationship quality, and conflict resolution strategies used by partners in close relationships
Background
Mindfulness is a specific state of attention which involves a constant focus on what is happening at the present time in a way that is neither judgmental nor evaluative. The aim of this study was to investigate the importance of mindfulness for relationship quality and conflict resolution strategies in close relationships. Five components of mindfulness were examined: observing, describing, acting with awareness, nonjudging, and nonreactivity.
Participants and procedure
The study included 153 participants (79 women, 74 men; aged 19-60 years). 39.2% of the respondents were married, 20.9% were engaged, 39.9 were in romantic relationships. The mean duration of the close relationship was 6.25 years. The following measures were used: the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire, the Patterns of Problem Solving Questionnaire, and the Dyadic Adaptation Scale.
Results
Acting with awareness, dialogue and avoiding conflict escalation strategy were predictors of relationship quality. The relationship status (marriage and engagement) was also a predictor of relationship quality. Gender, age, and duration of the relationship were not predictors of relationship quality. The results showed correlation between mindfulness and relationship quality (r = .28). There was a positive correlation between nonjudging and satisfaction in the relationship and between describing and emotional expression. Also, there was a negative correlation between nonreactivity and compatibility. Mindfulness was positive-ly correlated with dialogue and negatively correlated with escalation of and withdrawal from a conflict.
Conclusions
Mindfulness is important to the relationship’s quality and conflict resolution strategies. Among the components of mindfulness, especially acting with awareness is important to relationship quality
Władysław Hasior’s Urban Performances
This article discusses the performative art of Władysław Hasior, particularly his actions in the urban space. Initially expressed only in his artworks, since the 1970s Hasior’s need for dialogue with the spectator took the form of very expressive artistic manifestations involving audience participation, direct involvement of spectators in the creation of the performative event, and abolition of the distance between the artist and society. Due to the ontological status of these events, their ephemeral and fleeting nature, they have been the least explored area of Hasior’s work. The article analyzes his most important urban and open-air performances, such as the Procesja sztandarów (Banner Procession) in Łącko (1973), Solspann in Södertälje (1973–1976), and finally the ceremonial Przeprowadzka (Move) from the dormitory of Antoni Kenar school of fine arts to a new atelier in Zakopane (1984). These actions are considered in the context of contemporary discussions on participatory art: Claire Bishop’s antagonistic theory of participation and Grant H. Kester’s concept of dialogical art. It is argued that Hasior’s performative projects combined two strategies of participatory art; he was able to co-create ephemeral works together with the audience, while at the same time directing the spectators’ actions
