Zmierzch cywilizacji ludzi posiadających umiejętność tradycyjnego – odręcznego pisania tekstu

    Get PDF
A więc czytanie i pisanie to zjawisko stosunkowo nowe w ogólnej historii ludzkiego poznania. Stały się jednak one ważnymi umiejętnościami, niezbędnymi do funkcjonowania w nowoczesnym społeczeństwie. Tak więc zrozumienie mechanizmów leżących u podstaw nabywania umiejętności czytania i pisania w trakcie rozwoju człowieka jest ważnym przedsięwzięciem dla edukacji." (fragm.

Theoretical Studies of Acetyl-CoA Synthase Catalytic Mechanism

    Get PDF
DFT calculations were performed for the A-cluster from the enzyme Acetyl-CoA synthase (ACS). The acid constants (pKa), reduction potentials, and pH-dependent reduction potential for the A-cluster with different oxidation states and ligands were calculated. Good agreement of the reduction potentials, dependent on pH in the experiment, was obtained. On the basis of the calculations, a mechanism for the methylation reaction involving two–electron reduction and protonation on the proximal nickel atom of the reduced A-cluster is proposed

    Sakramento-logika papieża Franciszka

    No full text
The teaching of Pope Francis does not seem to provide a coherent and comprehensive discourse on the sacraments. Yet, a study of his texts leaves the reader with no doubt that the sacramental reflection is strongly present throughout his work. Though it is a presence that is often implicit, it seems to pervade and lead the Pope’s reflection in a number of various areas, becoming a keystone of the fundamental Christian truths. For that reason, we find it more appropriate to refer to a certain logic that underlies the Pope’s teaching rather than to sacramentology, which directly refers to the reflection on the sacraments of the Church. This paper aims to present the sacramental logic that is present in Pope Francis’s teaching and show the way in which he grasps the most profound nature of the sacraments and combines that understanding with the doctrine in its entirety

Radiological and Microbiological Evaluation of the Efficacy of Alveolar Bone Repair Using Autogenous Dentin Matrix-Preliminary Study

    No full text
Dental procedures for alveolar bone augmentation may be carried out using autologous bone graft material derived from the patient’s own tooth. The material obtained is subjected to strict procedures aimed at reducing the amount of bacteria in the autograft. The aim of this study was the evaluation of the efficacy of the autogenous dentine matrix produced by grinding the patient’s own tooth for the augmentation of maxillary bone defects and the evaluation of the microbiological status of the material obtained. Alveolar bone repair was performed with an autogenous dentin matrix in four patients. In each case, an autogenous bone graft substitute obtained by grinding the patient’s own tooth was used. The tooth-derived material was then used for alveolar augmentation. The obtained material was tested to assess its microbiological profile. For the purpose of comparison, other materials and tissues were also subjected to microbiological testing. Bone healing was assessed by CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) scanning before and 6 months after surgery using the Hounsfield scale and the ImageJ software. Analysis of the bone regeneration process based on the bone density score in Hounsfield units showed significant differences in measurements on CBCT scans carried out on the treatment site, before surgery, and 6 months after it, using ImageJ software. All bacteria detected in the bone augmentation material constituted the patient’s bacterial flora. The microorganisms present in the augmentation material were also present in the patient’s bone and soft tissues. The use of an autogenous dentin matrix for alveolar bone repair ensures that the proper volume is obtained and that alveolar bone shape is preserved and does not introduce pathogenic microorganisms into the patient. The procedure for preparing and using an autogenous dentin matrix is described based on one clinical case

Towarzystwo Ewangelickie Oświaty Ludowej w Cieszynie : działalność wydawnicza i oświatowa (1881-1905)

The aim of the thesis was to document and present the publishing and educational activities of the Cieszyn’s Society, indicate its role in the process of shaping the national, cultural, and religious identity of the Polish Evangelical community in Cieszyn Silesia in the years 1881 – 1905 in historical and cultural context of these times. The dissertation consists of eight chapters. The first one presents a general historical overview of Cieszyn Silesia taking into account administrative, economic, and political conditions as well as characteristic aspects of social, national, and cultural life which influenced the local Lutheran community in the late 19th and early 20th century. The second chapter characterizes the circumstances that led to the foundation of TEOL, its objectives, organizational structure and the main stages of its activity. The next chapters bring the analysis of the publishing repertoire – a typologically ordered review of the main operating segments of the Society’s publishing activity, proceeded by the discussion of the organisational and material aspects of editorial activities (chapter 3). The fourth chapter presents the repertoire of religious literature, represented most extensively by original works or translations (homiletics, prayer books and devotionals, dogmatic literature and Church history, missionary literature). Chapter 5 discusses didactic literature, for schools but also for personal use (educational materials, songbooks), self-study literature and for public education (TEOL readings and reports, popular science works, polemical and abstinence texts, fiction). Chapter 6 presents TEOL press organs, opinion-forming for the local protestant community, popularising literature and readership: ‘Evangelical Calendar for the Year …’ (since 1882) as well as the biweekly ‘Friend of the People’ (since 1885). Chapter 7 outlines the cultural and educational initiatives undertaken by the Society: lectures, contests, exhibitions and forming of its own library. Chapter 8 presents activities for the popularization of literature: both ‘its own’ – published by the Society, as well as the nationwide. All the activities undertaken by TEOL were supposed to address the reading, educational, cultural and religious needs of Polish Lutherans mainly from Cieszyn Silesia, but also from other regions, to educate, raise national awareness, shape national and moral attitudes, form opinions on social issues, as well as reading opinions. The Society wanted to shape, through books and the press, an integral and versatile Pole’s identity – a Lutheran, cognisant and involved in not only religious, but also social and cultural activity

The Impact of Brownfields on Residential Property Values in Post- Industrial Communities: A Study from the Eastern Part of the Czech Republic

    No full text
Dilapidated, neglected, or abandoned sites and buildings (so-called brownfields) are frequently neither visually attractive nor aesthetically valuable. Indeed, neglected brownfields contribute to the emergence of both objective and subjective barriers to the social, economic, and environmental development of communities. We also know that the occurrence of decayed brownfields affect the prices of residential housing in their vicinity. In our paper, we seek to better understand the impact of brownfields on the perceived value of neighbouring properties. We are also keen to shed more light on the factors behind the allegedly undesirable impact of brownfields on property values. Our research is based primarily on data obtained from a survey of 1,152 respondents in ten municipalities situated at the eastern part of the Czech Republic, where neglected brownfields frequently occur. The findings are complemented by an analysis of sales of residential properties located in proximity to brownfield sites, to further confirm our preliminary survey results. The results confirmed that neglected brownfields tend to negatively affect the value of neighbouring residential properties. Our results also signal that the concentration of socially unacceptable behaviour is considered a key issue for distorting property prices around brownfields. Our analyses have confirmed that distance from a particular brownfield is one of the factors significantly influencing property prices. We claim that neglected brownfields create negative externalities that require public sector interventions and better planning. We urgently need more systematic support for brownfield regeneration to improve the quality of life of residents in affected communities

[...] (fragm.

The Impact of Government Social Policy on the Roma Community in Czecho-Slovakia from 1948 to the Present with Comparison of Contemporary Research about Social Pathology

    No full text
The authors aim to draw attention to underestimating and disinterest in conducting a social study on the Roma population in socialism, which was carried out only in the early 1970s. The study on social and pathological phenomena focused on the impacts on the overall societal scale. The researchers did not perform studies in Roma communities and families. The state-controlled blanket assimilation was expected to automatically arouse positive changes in Roma families. Research into social pathology in Roma communities and families was launched only in the second half of the 1990s, mainly after the millennium. The study points to the authors’ archival qualitative research at the turn of 2020 and 2021 in the Slovak National Archives in Bratislava. The second part of the article presents qualitative research on violence against Romani women in connection with the presented effects of not addressing this negative phenomenon. The main goal of the research is to show the extent of interest in the social situation of the Roma during the communist regime and to point out the main problems in the present day
