O zjawisku lęku językowego z perspektywy uczących się drugiego/kolejnego języka obcego online
The aim of the paper is to reflect on the problem of language anxiety in
the foreign language teaching-learning process. The concept of language
anxiety in the online language teaching-learning context is discussed,
with particular relation to synchronous communication tools.
The context is the learners’ perspective of adult beginners at the university
level learning French as a second/subsequent language. The research
group included 85 students of the first and second years of
French at the University of Silesia in Katowice. To collect the data participants
were asked to complete the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety
Scale (FLCAS), developed by Horwitz, Horwitz and Cope (1986), and
to respond to six additional questions, related to the online language
teaching-learning context. Results showed that language anxiety is
a phenomenon that may accompany the regular online teaching-learning
process of a second/subsequent foreign language
Rola plazmodesm w regulacji różnicowania komórek na przykładzie Arabidopsis
Praca zawiera artykuły w języku angielskim.Symplasmic communication through the presence of plasmodesmata (PD) is one of the postulated mechanisms involved in regulating cell differentiation. However, cell differentiation requires the severed integrative function and the emergence of symplasmic isolation in many cases. Thus, the formation of symplasmic domains is an essential factor in the determination of cell fate. During somatic embryogenesis under in vitro conditions, explant cells change the direction of differentiation that leads to somatic embryos formation. Thus, it is possible to analyses the relationship between symplasmic communication or isolation and cell fate determination. Somatic embryogenesis on the example of Arabidopsis thaliana (Columbia-0 ecotype and transgenic lines) was used to study the relationship between PD and symplasmic communication in explants during changes in the direction of cell differentiation and the development of somatic and zygotic embryos. The research was carried out using the following techniques: stereoscopic, fluorescence (including confocal), and electron microscopy. The results of the conducted analyses and experiments have shown: 1/ the relationship between the permeability, number, morphology of PD and changes in cell differentiation, 2/ the formation of symplasmic domains during somatic embryogenesis, which includes cells realizing different development programs, 3/ the importance of symplasmic isolation for cell differentiation, which was confirmed by studies on the callose localization and experiments with the inhibitor of callose synthesis 4/ spatio-temporal similarities and differences between the emerging symplasmic domains and the development of the apical-basal axis and tissue differentiation in zygotic and somatic embryos, 5/ differences in the number of PD between and within the symplasmic domains in explants and somatic embryos
New Diagnostic Tool for Ion Channel Activity Hidden Behind the Dwell-Time Correlations
The patch-clamp technique is a powerful tool that
allows for a long observation of transport protein activity in real time.
Experimental traces of single-channel currents can be considered as a
record of the channel’s conformational switching related to its
activation and gating. In this work, we present a mathematically
simple method of patch-clamp data analysis that assesses the
connectivity and occupancy of distinct conformational substates of
the channel. The proposed approach appears to be a big step forward
due to its possible applications in the determination of channel
substates related to disease and in the analysis of drug−channel
interactions on the level of repetitive sequences of channel conformations. This is especially important in cases when molecular
dynamics docking is impossible and Markovian modeling requires ambiguous optimization tasks
Basic Dimensions of Religiousness and Dispositional Forgiveness: The Mediating Role of Religiously Motivated Forgiveness
Forgiveness could be regarded as one of the most important moral imperatives across various religions.
Although numerous studies have confirmed the hypothesis that religious people tend to be
more forgiving, there is still an open question as to which dimensions of religiosity are responsible
for this tendency and whether religious people equally tend to forgive others, but also themselves,
and feel being forgiven by God. The present study investigated the associations between religiosity
and dispositional forgiveness using the basic dimensions of religiousness model (including cognitive,
emotional, moral, and social dimensions of religiosity) and multifaceted measurement of forgiveness
(self-forgiveness, forgiveness of others, divine forgiveness, and religiously motivated forgiveness).
The study involved 427 individuals who identified themselves as religious (71% women). The results
showed weak positive correlations between dimensions of religiousness and dispositional selfforgiveness,
moderate associations with dispositional forgiveness of others and religiously motivated
forgiveness, and strong associations with dispositional divine forgiveness. Structural equation modeling
demonstrated that when controlled for covariations between dimensions of religiousness and
dimensions of forgiveness, the behaving (morality) dimension of forgiveness predicted dispositional
forgiveness of others and divine forgiveness. Religiously motivated forgiveness mediated between
the believing (meaning) and behaving dimensions of religiousness, and dispositional forgiveness
Das humoristische Potenzial von Stereotypen über Deutsche im polnischen und deutschen Mediendiskurs
The paper presents the relationships between humour and national stereotypes as linguistic
worldview components. The author discusses humorous elements in selected media
discourse stereotypical images of Germans. Such elements reinforce the stereotypes, the
majority of which are passed down from generation to generation in an unchanged form,
and facilitate their spread. The analysis covers stereotypes about Germans relating to their
appearance, personality traits, eatinghabits, and traditions. The research corpus consists of
various Polish and German internet sources, including articles, caricatures, comic books,
and jokes. All of them are part of the public discourse, thanks to which one can identify
typical thinking and world understanding patterns in a given culture
- ISBN 978-88-6976-223-

The Effective MLRSM Model and Low-energy Observables
We consider an effective Minimal Left–Right Symmetric Model. Instead of engaging all the dimension-6 operators, we choose only the relevant, in the limit that right-handed symmetry breaking scale is larger than the electroweak one, operators belonging to ϕ2X2 class. We adjudge the impact of those operators on the spectrum and vertices of the model, and then capture their contributions to the low-energy observables, e.g. , ρ,GF,ΘW, and oblique parameters S,T,U
Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Spark Plasma Sintered Mg-Zn-Ca-Pr Alloy
Alloys based on magnesium are of considerable scientific interest as they have very attractive mechanical and biological properties that could be used to manufacture biodegradable materials for medical applications. Mechanical alloying is a very suitable process to obtain alloys that are normally hard to produce as it allows for solid-state diffusion via highly energetic milling, producing fine powders. Powders obtained by this method can be sintered into nearly net-shape products, moreover, their phase and chemical composition can be specifically tailored. This work aims to investigate the effect of milling time on the density, microstructure, phase composition, and mechanical properties of Mg-Zn-Ca-Pr powders processed by high energy mechanical alloying (HEMA) and consolidated by spark plasma sintering (SPS). Thus, the results of XRD phase analysis, particle size distribution (granulometry), density, mechanical properties, SEM investigation of mechanically alloyed and sintered Mg-Zn-Ca-Pr alloy are presented in this manuscript. The obtained results illustrate how mechanical alloying can be used to produce amorphous and crystalline materials, which can be sintered and demonstrates how the milling time impacts their microstructure, phase composition, and resulting mechanical properties
