Exploring Enantiopure Zinc-Scorpionates as Catalysts for the Preparation of Polylactides, Cyclic Carbonates, and Polycarbonates
This database includes all the catalytic data of complexes 7-9 in the ROP of rac-Lactide, Conversion of styrene oxide into styrene carbonate and synthesis of poly(cyclohexenecarbonate). The dataset also contains selected bond lengths [Å] and angles [°] for compound 6 and complex 9.
Description of the project
New and simple ligand design strategies for the preparation of versatile metal-based catalysts capable of operating under greener and eco-friendly conditions in several industrially attractive processes are a priority demand for society development.
We present the first nucleophilic addition of an organolithium to ketenimines which incorporates a sterogenic centre in a N-donor atom to prepare new enantiopure NNN-donor scorpionates. We have also verified its potential utility as a valuable scaffold for chirality induction through the preparation of inexpensive, non-toxic and asymmetric zinc complexes. The pro-ligands and the corresponding zinc-based complexes have been characterized by X-Ray diffraction studies. DFT studies were carried out to rationalize the different complexation ability of these pro-ligands.
These complexes have proved to act as highly efficient catalysts for a variety of sustainable bioresourced processes industrially attractive, with wide substrate scope. Thus, complex 7 behaves as a highly efficient initiator for the well-behaved living ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of rac-lactide under very mild conditions. The PLA materials produced exhibited enhanced levels of isoselectivity, comparable to the highest value reported so far for zinc-based catalysts (Pi = 0.88).
In addition, the combination of 7 with onium halide salts functioned as a very active and selective catalyst for CO2 fixation into five‐membered cyclic carbonates through the cycloaddition of CO2 into epoxides under very mild and solvent-free conditions, reaching very good to excellent conversions (TOF = 227 h−1). Furthermore, these bicomponent system displays a broad substrate scope and functional group tolerance, including mono- and di-substituted epoxides, as well as the very challenging bio-renewable tri-substituted terpene-derived cis/trans-limonene oxide, whose reaction proceeds with high stereoselectivity.
Finally, complex 7 also achieved high activity and selectivity as one-component initiator for the synthesis of poly(cyclohexene carbonate) via ring-opening copolymerization (ROCOP) of cyclohexene oxide and CO2 under very soft conditions, affording materials with narrow dispersity values
Teaching the Use of Gamification in Elementary School: A Case in Spanish Formal Education
La gamificación es una metodología y herramienta educativa que ofrece beneficios a través de mecánicas y dinámicas. Aporta experiencias motivadoras y beneficios al enfoque de diseño instruccional. Diversos estudios destacan que esta metodología fomenta aportes en compromiso, diversión, entusiasmo, motivación, satisfacción e interacción en contextos pedagógicos. La muestra de 308 docentes se obtuvo tras la entrega masiva del instrumento a centros educativos de España. La muestra es no probabilística y los participantes del estudio respondieron voluntariamente la encuesta. De los participantes, el 69,8% fueron mujeres y el 30,2% hombres; Esta proporción es representativa de la población de docentes. Un análisis descriptivo se basa en tres dimensiones: programas más utilizados, dispositivos utilizados y funcionalidad didáctica. Estos datos se triangulan con un análisis mediante el método HJ-Biplot, el cual se presenta como una representación gráfica multivariada de los datos a partir de una matriz Xnxp. Este análisis detalla hallazgos sobre el papel determinante que juega el docente y la relación entre años de experiencia, edad, dispositivos utilizados y recursos utilizados, detectados con análisis descriptivos y bivariados. Entre las conclusiones se encuentran que los sujetos valoran positivamente la formación en competencia digital docente en términos de gamificación, aunque en la práctica diaria real sólo el 30% del profesorado afirma utilizar herramientas gamificadas. This dataset contains the data related to the article "Comparing effectiveness of educational video games of different genres in computer science education" with DOI 10.1016/j.entcom.2023.100588. This dataset contains data of 45 computer science students. The first tab of the file contains pre-test and post-test scores, whereas the second tab of the file contains the results of a questionnaire with 5 items to collect demographical data, and 10 items to collects perceptions (9 items in a Likert scale, and 1 open item). Supplementary code for the article: Comparative evaluation of region query strategies for DBSCAN clustering
Clustering is a technique that allows data to be organized into groups of similar objects. DBSCAN (Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise) constitutes a popular clustering algorithm that relies on a density-based notion of cluster and is designed to discover clusters of arbitrary shape. The computational complexity of DBSCAN is dominated by the calculation of the ϵ-neighborhood for every object in the dataset. Thus, the efficiency of DBSCAN can be improved in two different ways: (1) by reducing the overall number of ϵ-neighborhood queries (also known as region queries), or (2) by reducing the complexity of the nearest neighbor search conducted for each region query. This paper deals with the first issue by considering the most relevant region query strategies for DBSCAN, all of them characterized by inspecting the neighborhoods of only a subset of the objects in the dataset. We comparatively evaluate these region query strategies (or DBSCAN variants) in terms of clustering effectiveness and efficiency; additionally, a novel region query strategy is introduced in this work. The results show that some DBSCAN variants are only slightly inferior to DBSCAN in terms of effectiveness, while greatly improving its efficiency.
