Temporal coherence of single photons emitted by hexagonal Boron Nitride defects at room temperature

    No full text
Color centers in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) emerge as promising quantum light sources at room temperature, with potential applications in quantum communications, among others. The temporal coherence of emitted photons (i.e. their capacity to inter- fere and distribute photonic entanglement) is essential for many of these applications. Hence, it is crucial to study and determine the temporal coherence of this emission un- der different experimental conditions. In this work, we report the coherence time of the single photons emitted by an hBN defect in a nanocrystal at room temperature, mea- sured via Michelson interferometry. The visibility of this interference vanishes when the temporal delay between the interferometer arms is a few hundred femtoseconds, highlighting that the phonon dephasing processes are four orders of magnitude faster than the spontaneous decay time of the emitter. We also analyze the single photon characteristics of the emission via correlation measurements, defect blinking dynamics, and its Debye-Waller factor. Our room temperature results highlight the presence of a strong electron-phonon coupling, suggesting the need to work at cryogenic temperatures to enable quantum photonic applications based on photon interference. This dataset includes data from the experiments carried out to investigate the temporal coherence of hBN at room temperature, including photoluminescence (PL) spectra of several hBN emitters under different excitation conditions, time-resolved fluorescence decay, second-order correlation measurements, and Michelson interferometry of single photons. This data has been used to generae the figures included in the publication: "Temporal coherence of single photons emitted by hexagonal Boron Nitride defects at room temperature". 1- "Basic Characterization": Data for the basic characterization of an hBN emitter at room temperature. The Project "The Reception of English Fiction in Twentieth-century Spain: Editions, Criticism and Censorship" was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education under the 2007 programme of grants for research projects (Reference HUM2007-63296/FILO). The research team carried out a study on the reception of English and Irish narrative in Spain during the 20th century, paying special attention to the problems of censorship that arose during the Franco regime.</p

Self-assembly of chemically programmed amphiphiles into aqueous nanotubes with a lipophilic lumen

    No full text
The creation of complex hollow nanostructures with precise control over size and shape represents a great challenge in supramolecular soft materials. Here, we have further developed a bioinspired methodology for the formation of aqueous nanotubes of well-defined dimensions and pore coating through the self-assembly of amphiphiles that are chemically programmed with complementary nucleobases. These nanotubes are endowed with a hydrophobic lumen, whose diameter can be expanded as a function of the monomer length, in which apolar dyes can be efficiently encapsulated. Cognitive profile in PD

    No full text
The Project was designed to analyze the cognitive heterogeneity in PD patients using a novel data driven approach, the Latent Profile Analysis (LPA), to classify patients according to cognitive characteristics. This dataset include information about general and specific cognitive perfomance in 71 PD patients without dementia. The neuropsychological battery included different memory and executive function tests. Memory was assessed both for semantic and episodic capabilities. Semantic memory was assessed with a Semantic fluency task (SF; Benton and Hamsher, 1978) and the Boston Naming Test (BNT; Kaplan and Weintraub, 1983). Episodic memory was assessed both with verbal and visuospatial material. Verbal episodic memory was assessed using the Spain-Complutense Verbal Learning Test (Test de Aprendizaje Verbal España-Complutense, TAVEC; Benedet and Alexandre, 1998), and visuospatial episodic memory was assessed using the 7/24 Spatial Recall Test (7/24 SRT; Rao, Hammeke, McQuillen, Khatri, and Lloyd, 1984). Executive function was assessed using the Phonemic Fluency Task (PF; Benton and Hamsher, 1978), the Backward Digit Span of the WAIS-III (BDS; Weschler, 2001) and the Trail Making Test (TMT; Reynolds, 2002). They were selected following the recommendation for neuropsychological evaluation of PD made by the Movement Disorder Society Task Force Guidelines (Litvan et al., 2012).</p

UAM primary and pre-primary student teachers´ opinions about the effectiveness of bilingual education programs in Spain

    No full text
Student teachers are often excluded from discussions about educational programs that could significantly influence their professional development in the short or medium term. This project seeks to address this research gap by exploring the views of pre-primary and primary teacher trainees regarding bilingual education programs (BEPs) in Spain. The dataset presents the answers provided by 170 prospective teachers of primary and pre-primary at the University Autónoma of Madrid to a questionnaire, which consists of 17 close-ended items distributed into three blocks. In addition to the independent variables and sub-variables of the study (sex, age, degree, year, specialisation, and self-perceived level of English proficiency), items enquired about the trainees’ opinions regarding the regional BEP, its effectiveness in class, and its impact on their future professional careers, as well as a set of open questions related to the student teachers’ experiences and opinions on BEPs.</p

Replicación de datos para: Valorization of refinery sludges by hydrothermal carbonization towards circular economy

    No full text
Despite continuous efforts by the petroleum industry to address societal needs, the effective management of potentially hazardous wastes, such as refinery sludge, remains a significant challenge. Refinery sludge is a stable emulsion comprising water, petroleum hydrocarbons (e.g., oils, fats, organic compounds), solids, and metals. Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) is a promising and environmentally friendly approach for valorizing oily sludge from refineries, given its adaptability and high efficiency in processing wet or high-moisture-content organic wastes. This study aims to systematically evaluate the effects of three key factors—initial sludge composition (through the mixing of three distinct real oily sludge streams from refinery), HTC temperature, and reaction time—on the properties of the resulting hydrochar, aqueous phase and oily phase. This scope was reached through a full factorial design of experiments and a deepened characterization of the as-received petrochemical samples and the separated HTC products. The study resulted in predictive models for 32 response variables associated with the HTC process using real refinery sludge mixtures. These variables include the HTC product distribution, hydrochar yield, higher heating value (HHV) of produced hydrochar, and the characteristics of the process water, among others. The developed models provide a reliable framework for optimizing HTC outputs and forecasting quality variations in response to changes in the operating conditions studied
