On the maximal displacement of some critical branching Lévy processes with stable offspring distribution

    No full text
Let X be a critical branching Lévy process whose offspring distribution is in the domain of attraction of a stable random variable. We study the tail probability of the maximum location ever reached by a particle in two different situations : first when the underlying Lévy process L admits moments of order at least two and is not centered, and then when the distribution of L has a regularly varying tail. This work complements some earlier results in which either L was centered or the offspring distribution was assumed to have moments of order three

    Androgyny

    No full text
International audienceAndrogyny is the simultaneous co-existence and union of male and female characteristics. The concept appears frequently throughout human history, and can be seen as a Jungian archetype, drawing upon shared culture as much as biology. Despite its significance for historical and present understanding of gender identities and roles, it remains relatively marginal in management and organization studies. Nevertheless, the figure of the androgyne allows for inclusive and mindful discussion of gender that resonates with social experience while retaining paradox and complexity central to human sexuality, and has been successfully used to interpret advertising tropes, managerial approaches and organizational constitution

Isogeometric analysis of adhesion between visco-hyperelastic material based on modified exponential cohesive zone model

    No full text
International audienceThis work suggests a reliable contact algorithm for simulating adhesion between soft bodies based on the isogeometric analysis. To accurately characterize adhesion-contact regional effects, a modified exponential cohesive zone model is proposed by incorporating a real contact area influence factor into the original exponential cohesive zone model. Considering the nonlinear large-deformation effect on soft bodies, numerical implementations of isogeometric analysis and bi-potential contact algorithm are proceeded, which provide a continuous normal field of contact interface and precise determination of contact forces. This comprehensive framework is implemented on our in-house isogeometric computing platform, and depicting the ability to recover from large deformations as well as time-dependent mechanical properties of soft bodies through the visco-hyperelastic model. Numerical examples encompassing debonding scenarios involving edges, centers, as well as smooth and rough surfaces, demonstrate the validity on present algorithm with adhesive contact mechanism. The adhesive effects on soft bodies are investigated detailedly via the influences on material viscosity and surface roughness. It has a prospect on providing a valuable reference for future studies especially on analyzing the interfacial adhesion behaviors of biomimetic structures

A dynamic event-triggered approach for observer-based formation control of multi-agent systems with designable inter-event time

    No full text
International audienceThis paper addresses the leader-following formation control problems for generic linear multi-agent systems under directed topology with designable inter-event time. A synthesis approach combining controller and observer design is developed under a dynamic event-triggered communication and control scheme. The proposed feedback control, state estimation, and event-triggered rules are distributed, and only local information is required for each agent to implement these algorithms. The proposed dynamic event-triggered protocol incorporates model-based estimation and clock-like auxiliary dynamic variables to prolong the inter-event time and economize the network resources. Furthermore, the inter-event time is designable, which allows more flexible tuning of communication frequency with only minor performance degradation. Sufficient conditions for formation control are established by linear matrix inequalities. The proposed method exhibits significant improvement over the dynamic event-triggered control methods described in the existing literature. Compared to the existing static event-triggered strategy, the proposed approach significantly reduces the utilization of communication resources while preserving asymptotic convergence to the desired formation. Comparative simulations demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results

    BooN: Boolean Network Analysis Software

    No full text
International audienceIn this paper, we present an open source software, called BooN , which has been developed for the purpose of Boolean network analysis in Python. The release includes two main packages: one comprising a set of methods applied to the Boolean network object and the other for the graphical interface. The software encompasses all the requisite features for Boolean network analysis, including graphical network design, interaction graph drawing, model of dynamics, symbolic computation of stable states, and controllability analysis. BooN can be freely accessed on GitHub (Delaplace, 2024)
