Neural titans in market prediction: MLP, transformer, & hybrid models across G-7 and China
This study aims to conduct a comparative evaluation of eight state-of-the-art forecasting models – TimeMixer, PatchTST, iTransformer, NHITS, NBEATS, SOFTS, RMoK, and BiTCN – representing diverse deep learning architectures, neural basis expansion techniques, and hybrid approaches, for predicting stock market prices. We assess their performance across seven major global indices: the Shanghai Stock Exchange, S&P/TSX Composite, FTSE 100, DAX, CAC 40, S&P 500, and Nikkei 225, using rigorous metrics (MAE, SMAPE and RMSE). Our findings indicate that neural basis expansion models (NHITS, NBEATS) achieve superior overall accuracy (aggregated MAE: 0.013–0.014), particularly in North American and Asian markets. In contrast, transformer-based architectures exhibit market-specific strengths, with iTransformer delivering exceptional performance on Canada’s S&P/TSX (MAE: 0.003). Notably, European indices (DAX, CAC 40) present significant challenges, where BiTCN and RMoK underperform (MAE: 0.032–0.038), suggesting limitations in modelling abrupt volatility shifts characteristic of these markets. These results highlight critical regional performance variations and provide insights into architectural efficacy under diverse market conditions
Trends and research progress in sustainable and green energy management: A bibliometric analysis
This study presents a bibliometric analysis of research trends and advancements in the field of sustainable and green energy management. The depletion of fossil fuels and the threats posed by increasing carbon emissions to global energy security have made the need for sustainable energy solutions more urgent. The analysis, conducted on articles published between 2008 and 2024 in the Web of Science (WoS) database, reveals that energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainability, and green energy are the most frequently researched topics in the literature. Key themes include green energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, and energy performance evaluation, with increasing interest in the role of policy and technological innovations in sustainable energy in recent years. The findings of the study demonstrate a strong research network in the energy management literature, but also highlight that some niche topics remain underexplored. The thematic map analysis shows that energy management, machine learning, and green energy efficiency are central topics, while less-researched areas are limited in the literature. This indicates the need for further expansion of research in new areas within the field of sustainable energy management. This bibliometric study reveals current research trends in sustainable energy management and offers strategic insights for future studies, providing important recommendations for addressing gaps in the field
Assessing customer satisfaction and loyalty in the energy sector through service quality: A modified Servqual analysis
This study examines the impact of service quality on customer satisfaction and loyalty in the energy sector using the SERVQUAL model. Key dimensions such as reliability, empathy, and physical features were found to significantly influence customer satisfaction. The research involved an online survey, with data analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to identify both direct and indirect effects of service quality dimensions on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Results show that improving reliability and empathy can notably enhance customer satisfaction, leading to stronger customer loyalty. However, the study acknowledges limitations, such as the generalizability of results due to the online nature of the survey and the study’s focus on a specific geographical region. The use of verbal data may also introduce bias, which future research could address by applying more detailed data collection methods and examining sub-factors. The study concludes that energy companies should refine their service strategies to better meet customer expectations, suggesting further research in different regions and sectors

Process tracing the political course, ideology and transformation of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in postcommunist Montenegro
Up until its defeat in the August 2020 parliamentary elections, the communist successor party in Montenegro, Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), represented the only uninterrupted ex-communist incumbency in Southeastern Europe. This chapter will process trace the political course, ideology and transformation of this party throughout the 30 years that it held the reins of power in the tiny Adriatic republic. In so doing, the chapter will also analyze the transformation of the Montenegrin party system from competitive authoritarianism and one-party dominant system to a more inclusive but fragile democracy recently. I will rely on fieldwork that I did in Montenegro in April 2019, during which I conducted semi-structured elite interviews with party leaders and deputy leaders (from Montenegrin, Serbian, Bosniak and Albanian parties), current and former ministers, members of parliament and Montenegrin academics and public intellectuals. Besides this, I will also draw on secondary sources to properly contextualize my arguments..
Employee green values and perceived greenwashing: The mediating role of person-organization fit in CSR-oriented companies
This study investigates the relationship between employees' green values and their perceptions of greenwashing in CSR-oriented organizations, emphasizing the mediating role of person-organization (P-O) fit. Utilizing a mixed-methods research approach, it combines quantitative survey data from 326 private-sector employees in Turkey with qualitative content analysis of sustainability reports from 36 firms listed on the BIST Sustainability Index (BIST SI). The results demonstrate that employees with stronger green values are more sensitive to corporate greenwashing practices. In addition, the findings reveal that P-O fit significantly mediates this relationship, highlighting the importance of value congruence in shaping employees' evaluations of corporate environmental claims. By illustrating how organizational alignment with employee values influences perceptions of authenticity and accountability, this study contributes theoretically to the understanding of internal stakeholder dynamics in sustainability contexts. These findings emphasize the importance of fostering a strong person-organization fit to mitigate greenwashing concerns and strengthen organizational trust

The modern period we live in today is typified by technology, and this evermore entangled technology in all facets of our lives has also affected consumer behavior. This escalating influence has prompted crucial questions concerning the genuineness of individuals’ needs. This paper uses the theory of false needs by philosopher Herbert Marcuse, and focuses on how the utilization of social media platforms impacts consumption by fabricating false needs that don't arise from authentic needs. To accomplish the goal of this study, a quantitative approach was applied, with data gathered from 395 Arab residents in Türkiye, from different income, education, and cultural backgrounds. The study results shows that online purchasing behavior is positively associated with augmented time spent on social media platforms. Purchase intentions—conceptualized as false needs—were also found to significantly mediate the relationship between social media use and consumer purchasing behavior. The research outcomes did not reveal any significant influence of income, age, or educational level on false needs or purchasing behavior. The current findings empirically validate Marcuse's assumptions about the existence of false needs in modern society, which in turn suggests that social media influences consumption principally by creating false needs. The study contributes to the discourse surrounding digital consumption and consumer behavior in the digital age.
[Book Review]: "Psychology and Islam"
Psychology and Islam, written by Ali Ayten and Amjad M. Hussain, is an introductory work that explores the contributions of Islamic civilization to psychology and the relationship between these contributions and modern psychology. The book examines the impact of Islam on human nature, spirituality, and mental health, revealing how the Islamic perspective has shaped psychology throughout history. It provides a broad historical perspective, tracing the development of psychology from Ancient Greece to the Muslim philosophers of the Middle Ages and modern Western psychology. In particular, it offers a comprehensive framework on the discipline known as ‘ilm al-nafs in the Islamic world. The book comparatively analyzes the concepts of religiosity and spirituality on both individual and societal levels. It discusses the effects of religiosity on mental health, considering both its positive and negative aspects in different cultural contexts and highlighting the differences between Western and Muslim societies. Mental health disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, are examined in relation to religious and cultural contexts, supported by empirical studies conducted in Muslim communities. Each chapter concludes with a section titled “critiques and recommendations for future studies”, which provides evaluations of the discussed topics and suggestions for future research. Psychology and Islam stands out as an introductory resource for researchers and readers interested in Islamic psychology
