Cyber–Physical Resilience: Evolution of Concept, Indicators, and Legal Frameworks
The protection of critical infrastructures (CIs) from cyber–physical threats and natural hazards has become increasingly vital in modern society, which relies heavily on the essential services provided by these infrastructures. The European Union has emphasized the importance of this issue by deploying a comprehensive policy package in 2022, including the NIS2 and CER Directives. This paper explores the concept of resilience in critical entities and essential services from a cyber–physical perspective. It addresses the inherent complexity of CIs and discusses challenges, limitations, and future research directions for enhancing their protection in line with EU policies. Furthermore, it introduces a conceptual model of resilience, outlining its analytical dimensions, and reviews current resilience indicators and corresponding assessment frameworks
The essay presents a review of the major evidence that emerged from the analysis of journalistic discourse related to cases of extreme violence against women that occurred between 2015 and 2017 in Puglia. Through the qualitative analysis of the main linguistic accounts, identified in crime news articles that appeared in some newspapers, the essay reconstructs the main trends and typifications that characterize the journalistic representation of feminicides, contributing to consolidate a given interpretative frame for this type of crime. The modes of journalistic representation of feminicides and extreme gender violence are not neutral and risk, on the contrary, continuing to legitimize a condition of subalternity and domination that denotes unbalanced power relations between women and man

The role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in abiotic stress management in viticulture under climatic shifts
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have been shown to enhance grapevine resilience to abiotic stresses, which are becoming increasingly severe due to climate change. Grapevines, which are central to global wine production, face critical challenges such as drought, salinity, extreme temperatures, and soil degradation. These challenges have the potential to compromise yield, quality, and economic sustainability. AMF establish symbiotic relationships with grapevine roots, thereby improving nutrient and water uptake, enhancing photosynthetic efficiency, and modulating stress-related pathways. These fungi also promote soil health by increasing microbial diversity, stabilizing soil structure, and reducing the need for chemical inputs. The application of AMF inoculants in viticulture presents substantial opportunities, including improved grapevine adaptation to environmental stresses, higher fruit quality, and reduced environmental impact. However, challenges such as ensuring consistent performance across diverse environmental conditions, optimizing inoculant formulations, and addressing vineyard management practices that may reduce AMF effectiveness must be overcome to maximize their benefits. Advances in precision agriculture and research into AMF-host interactions are essential to unlocking their full potential. This review explores the mechanisms by which AMF mitigate abiotic stress, the benefits of their integration into vineyard management, and the challenges that must be overcome to implement AMF-based solutions
Environmental controversies, environmental fines and firms’ default risk
This paper aims to provide empirical evidence on the unexplored relationship between environmental controversies, environmental fines, and firms' default risk, as well as to test whether this relationship changes with firms' level of environmental commitment or the country's environmental awareness. Using a sample of 402 global firms over ten years, we show that an increase in environmental controversies, and thus greater media exposure of firms for environmental damage, increases firms' risk of default. Instead, environmental fines do not significantly influence default risk. Our results also point out that the effect of environmental controversies on default risk is heterogeneous: it is significant exclusively for firms with a higher environmental commitment to reducing carbon emissions and headquartered in countries with greater environmental attention. Our results present several implications for firms, policymakers, and financial institutions
Designing Innovative Learning Scenarios in Vocational Education for Additive Manufacturing: the Amte@Ch Project
Inclusive education through gamification: Empower: ME - I'm game! an Erasmus+ project
The Erasmus+ project Empower: ME - I'm game!, involving Italy, Germany, and Turkey, explores technology’s role in inclusive education by leveraging gamification to enhance self-esteem in students With Special Educational Needs (SEN). Increasingly employed in education (Dominguez et al., 2013), gamification fosters engagement and motivation, improving learning outcomes (Kapp, 2012). The project focuses on developing an accessible digital game integrating adaptive learning technologies, positive feedback mechanisms, and reinforcement strategies for memory and executive functions. The Italian team has implemented guidelines, ensuring adherence to accessibility principles. The game prototype will be tested in special education classrooms in Turkey and Germany through a pre-post study assessing its impact on self-esteem, utilizing selected components of the Five-Scale Test of Self-Esteem (Pope et al., 1992). The results will provide insights for refinement and offer comparative elements for inclusive classrooms in Italy
