No full textAs is well known, Aristotle’s thought provides us with the first clear presentation of the two possible epistemological paths, the analytic and the synthetic, which characterise the entire later thought.
These two perspectives constitute the circular demonstration that was the main methodological tool in the period between the 14th and 17th centuries.
All historiographical research has been devoted to the study of Aristotle’s methodology in order to uncover its connections with modern thinkers and to identify fundamental links with modern and contemporary epistemology.
The aim of this article is to offer one of the first philologically grounded investigations into the original sources of Aristotelian thought, which formed the basis for the relevant developments of later epistemological reflection, by examining at least three aspects of it
Corruption and its relatives: facing the relationship between economic health and quality of government
No full textThe prevailing orientation in the existing literature on corruption is on its consequences for the socioeconomic dimensions, on a national basis. Using a promising proxy for quality of government (QoG) with substantial potential for further research, we examine the relationship between gross domestic product (GDP) per capita and QoG across 198 European regions from 2009–2022. We enrich the relatively sparse but relevant body of literature on this issue by testing and demonstrating that the reverse causality in this linkage should not be overlooked. We exploit the power of instrumental modelling in a panel data setting, allowing for the inclusion of a new perspective that fits with the place-based rationale of recent European policies. Beyond being of interest to researchers, the results are significant for policymakers and society as a whole

No full textThis study investigates how the adoption of circular economy practices influences the financial performance of companies in the Food and Health Products sector, a strategically important industry for health, nutrition, and sustainability. Using panel data regression models applied to an international sample of 1081 listed firms over the period 2007–2021, the analysis combines indicators of circular practices from Refinitiv with financial information from Bloomberg. The results show that companies embracing circular strategies tend to achieve higher profitability and stronger market valuations. Beyond the environmental benefits, the evidence demonstrates that circular business models can generate tangible economic value, highlighting their strategic and policy relevance in a highly regulated sector. By providing large-scale firm-level empirical evidence, this study contributes to the growing literature on sustainability and finance and offers insights for regulators, investors, and managers committed to advancing the transition toward more responsible and resilient economic systems

This chapter emphasises that digital transformation of public administration is fundamentally about people and the development of digital capabilities and competencies that align all activities, processes and culture to organisational objectives. The Fourth Industrial Revolution has underscored the critical need for reskilling human resources and building dynamic organisational capabilities to manage advanced technologies. However, research on the competencies required for digital transformation remains limited and fragmented. This chapter aims to address this gap by analysing the competencies needed to manage digital transformation in public administration. It provides a framework for developing the necessary skills for civil servants and administrators, crucial for leading the digital transformation of the public sector
