Antibacterial and Biocompatible Penicillin–Streptomycin Loaded Bacterial Cellulose (BC) Hydrogels for Wound Healing
Bacterial cellulose (BC) hydrogel is a promising skin wound healing biomaterial due to
its unique properties, including a moist environment that facilitates tissue healing. To enhance its antimicrobial efficacy, BC dressings were loaded with penicillin and streptomycin.
FT-IR analysis confirmed successful drug binding, while SEM revealed a nanofibrous and
porous hydrogel structure. In vitro studies using 3T3 mouse fibroblasts demonstrated
biocompatibility, and scratch wound assays achieved complete closure across all tested
concentrations. Antibacterial activity, assessed via agar diffusion against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus, showed a concentration-dependent increase in inhibition
zones, highlighting the potential of BC-Pen/Strep hydrogels as effective antimicrobial
wound dressings
Textile Implements from the Early Iron Age Necropolis Canale Ianchina (Calabria, Italy)
The Canale Ianchina tomb material situated in the hinterland of the ancient site of Locri and excavated by Paolo Orsi in 1909 and 1912, dates from the 9th to the last quarter of the 8th century BC. When put in relation to the textile tools from the nearby necropoleis of Torre Galli and Incoronata – San Teodoro, the site of Timpone della Motta at Francavilla Marittima, as well as to mineralised textiles recovered in south Italian funerary contexts, the tools offer interesting considerations on Early Iron Age textile culture and its influence on the later Greek and Indigenous interaction in textile production
Il circuito murario di Brundisium: nuove proposte di lettura e di ricostruzione
In questo lavoro vengono approfonditi alcuni aspetti legati alla ricostruzione delle mura romane di Brundisium (Brindisi). A fronte dei numerosi riferimenti degli autori antichi, è estremamente esigua la documentazione archeologica relativa al circuito murario di età romana, pertanto la definizione del percorso si è avvalsa dell’analisi di altri tipi di fonti, quali la cartografia storica e moderna, la documentazione archeologica indiretta e la geomorfologia.
L’analisi e l’elaborazione dei dati raccolti in ambiente GIS ha consentito di esaminare la distribuzione delle evidenze archeologiche utili alla nostra ricerca, in rapporto alla cartografia moderna e storica: non solo i resti appartenenti alle antiche mura (in realtà estremamente esigui e di incerta interpretazione), ma anche altri ritrovamenti (come, ad esempio, sepolture e aree di necropoli) che possono suggerire indirettamente l'andamento del circuito. Nuovi spunti di riflessione sono scaturiti dall’analisi specifica del rapporto esistente tra i dati archeologici e cartografici e l’andamento morfologico del terreno, ben evidenziato dal DTM (modello digitale del terreno) disponibile per l’area della città roman
Diversity and biogeography of mesophotic and bathyal Onuphidae (Annelida: Eunicida) of the Western Mediterranean sea
The Mediterranean Sea is extensively studied from a biological point of view and known for its high diversity, however benthic macro-and meiofauna of its deep ecosystems remain largely unexplored. Polychaetes are among the most abundant deep-sea benthic invertebrates, yet they are poorly understood in terms of taxonomy and biogeography. The Onuphidae family is known for its diversity in deep-sea environments, but most European studies focus on shallow-water species, with no molecular data for specimens collected at depths below 100 m in the Mediterranean. In this study, 88 specimens from 10 morphotypes were morphologically characterised. Samples came from Canyon Dohrn, Salerno bathyal plain, and Palinuro and Marsili seamounts of the Western Mediterranean Sea, as well as from the historical collections of the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa. Phylogenetic reconstruction was performed using concatenated markers 16S rDNA, 18S rDNA and, separately, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I. This study provides the first thorough molecular phylogeny for Onuphidae in the deep Mediterranean. The combined morphological and molecular data revealed three potentially endemic Nothria species: Nothria sp. 1 (over 600 m depth off Corsica and in the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea), Nothria sp. 2 (35-90 m), and Nothria cf. jourdei (80-230 m). This study also identified Paradiopatra species with different biogeographical affinities: P. bihanica (Senegalese) and P. fiordica (Lusitanian) at different depths. Our study reveals that the overlap of Northern and Southern species ranges in shallow Mediterranean waters, known as the "biodiversity pump" effect, may also influence the deep Mediterranean biota, though further research across more invertebrate groups is needed. The deep Mediterranean polychaete fauna is likely influenced by the neighbour biogeographic districts, including Senegalese and Lusitanian, but it also includes a significant endemic component reflecting the basin's unique environmental conditions. This complex biogeographic composition of the deep-sea Mediterranean fauna should be considered when planning conservation and management of these unique and diverse ecosystems

Attraverso la lettura delle fonti letterarie e della documentazione epigrafica ed archeologica è possibile ricostruire nelle linee generali gli assetti della Puglia meridionale nel corso del I sec. a.C. Piuttosto lacunosi sono invece i dati riconducibili agli aspetti della vita quotidiana; nondimeno, attraverso lo studio dei reperti mobili provenienti dal Salento appare chiaro come questa regione fosse pienamente inserita nei traffici commerciali con l’Italia centro-settentrionale e l’Oriente mediterraneo. Alcuni contesti archeologici del I sec. a.C. sono caratterizzati dalla presenza di assi dimezzati; la connotazione cultuale dei ritrovamenti offre l’occasione per alcune riflessioni sull’uso delle monete come dono votivo, con particolare riguardo agli esemplari mutilati

Behavioral similarity in business process models: A perspective that needs more attention
Although extensive research has explored business process model similarity, the coherence and structure of these studies remain underexplored. This paper systematically reviews the literature, with a particular focus on behavioral similarity. We conduct a systematic review of the literature on process model similarity, with a focus on two primary measurement approaches: trace-based and model-based similarity. Based on 99 reviewed studies, we developed a three-dimensional framework and conducted a quantitative comparison of selected similarity measures for deeper analysis. Our findings provide structured insights to strengthen the assessment of process model similarity, particularly from a behavioral perspective. The review process follows a six-phase systematic methodology, from the identification of relevant keywords to the creation of bibliographic maps that visually represent the findings. These insights offer a foundation for future research and practical applications within the field

as coming “from Aesernia.” It’s now lost, but on the basis of paleographic analysis, it seems to be one of the
earliest records of the goddess’ cult by an offerer of Campanian or Samnite origins, Stenis Kalaviis, who had
probably given it, as votive gift, at the lucus Angitiae, located on the shore of the Fucinus lake
AI-based Cybersecurity for a Sustainable Digital Industry: Systematic Literature Review and Future Research Directions
The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure sustainable cybersecurity practices is a major challenge in the era of Industry 4.0. AI techniques can classify and detect the huge number of cyber-attacks affecting modern industrial systems due to their adaptability and predictability, offering speed of classification, discovery of hidden patterns, and increased accuracy. However, the current literature shows a significant gap in analysing the relationship between AI-based cyber risk assessment and sustainability pillars (i.e., economic, social, and environmental) in modern industrial contexts. To fill this gap, this study explores the opportunities that AI techniques applied to cyber risk assessment can offer in terms of sustainability in the context of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Specifically, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted for the purpose of exploring the following four areas: (i) the definitions of sustainable cybersecurity and green cybersecurity in the industrial context; (ii) the AI techniques adopted for risk assessment, from a sustainability perspective; (iii) the industries involved; and (iv) the sustainability benefits of implementing AI technologies for cyber risk assessment. Following this analysis, an original tabular outline is created and validated by domain experts. It brings together evidence from the literature to facilitate understanding of the interplay between sustainability and cybersecurity and highlight the contribution that AI can bring not only to cyber risk assessment, but also to sustainability pillars, laying the groundwork for interesting future research directions
