We can ask ourselves “What is sound really? How can we define it and is sound everything that human ear can hear?“. We define sound as longitudinal mechanical wave (sound needs medium to propagate) in frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 000 Hz. If sound can force an object to vibrate in its natural frequency, those vibrations will overlap, add up and make larger amplitude. We call this phenomenon resonance. It can make object to brake, and in this case it broke a glass. Besides the main characteristics of sound, this thesis will explained how and why resonance occurs and will describe experiments that show sound resonance that causes breaking of glass. Also, this thesis will represent the results connected to defining fundamental frequency of resonator and will explain how we can measure tuning fork frequency using oscilloscope and microphone. At the end of thesis there is a chapter that represents methodical elaboration of training unit called “Sound and ultrasound” that is a part of Croatian high school curriculum of physics of the third year

A general requirement in ground-based γ-ray astronomy is a moonless night with good atmospheric transparency since the atmosphere is an integral part of every atmospheric Cherenkov telescope and its sensitivity considerably depends on variable atmospheric conditions. To fulfillment the above condition we need a clear atmosphere which is not always a case. If clouds are present in the atmosphere, they have a considerable impact on the atmospheric transparency. However, from the HEGRA and MAGIC experiences, we know that sometimes is possible to operate the detector with considerably high efficiency in the presence of high dense cloud layers. Measurements of atmospheric transmission with MAGIC LIDAR at La Palma show that up to 30% of measurements made in conditions like those mentioned above can be used by applying proper corrections. In this context, one of the aims of this thesis has been to study clouds impact on the atmospheric transparency, in order to show there is a possibility to prolongate duty cycle of CTA-N with observations during cloudy nights. In order to examine the influence of cloud altitude and optical depth on CTA-N performance, transmittance simulations for the atmosphere with clouds were made. The clouds simulations were done with MODTRAN computer program, while the atmospheric models produced by MODTRAN were used as inputs for Monte Carlo simulations with sim_telarray. Computed simulations can be used as a base for effective adaptive scheduling observations in the future

    Weak Interaction

U radu ću detaljno opisati otkriće i razvoj teorije slabe sile započevši univerzalnim Fermijevim djelovanjem. The theme of this thesis is a weak force. The weak force is one of the four fundamental forces in nature. While other forces hold things together, weak force plays a greater role in their decay. The discovery of weak force and the formation of its contemporary theory is closely related to the study of the β-decay of neutrinos. The Wu experiment has shown that, unlike strong force and electromagnetic, parity is not preserved in decay of neutrino. The problem of parity violation is solved by the establishment of a V-A theory. In this paper I will describe the discovery and development of the theory, starting with the universal Fermi interaction

U prvim poglavljima ovoga rada opisana je kratka teorijska podloga o ionizirajućem zračenju, Parku prirode Papuk, poluvodičkim detektorima i visokorezolucijskoj gamaspektrometriji. Analizom rezultata koncentracije aktivnosti 137Cs^{137}\textrm{Cs} i ovisnosti o nadmorskoj visini vidljivo je kako koncentracija aktivnosti 137Cs^{137}\textrm{Cs} opada s porastom nadmorske visine. Analizom 238U^{238}\textrm{U} i njegovih potomaka vidljivo je kako koncentracija ^{238}\textrm{U}) i njegovih potomaka opada s udaljavanjem od površinskih kopova obližnjeg kamenoloma. Gamaspektrometrijskim mjerenjima utvrđena je prisutnost \(^{7}\textrm{Be} i 40K^{40}\textrm{K}na svim lokacijama uzorkovanja mahovine. In the first few parts of this work it is given short theoretical introduction about ionizing radiation, Nature park Papuk, semiconductor detectors and high-resolution gamma spectroscopy. Furthermore, results of gamma spectroscopy measurments on moss samples collected on area of Nature park Papuk are displayed. Analizing results connecting concentration activity of 137Cs^{137}\textrm{Cs} and elevation, it is shown that concentration of 137Cs^{137}\textrm{Cs} is droping with growth of elevation. Analizing 238U^{238}\textrm{U} and it's descendants, it is visible that concentration of 238U^{238}\textrm{U}and it's descendants is droping with departure from nearby stonepits. Spending gamma spectroscopy measurments confirmed presence of 7Be^{7}\textrm{Be} and 40K^{40}\textrm{K} on every location moss samples were taken

Elastic properties of planar two - dimensional indium were studied using ab initio density functional theory calculations in the ABINIT program package. This thesis first describes two – dimensional materials in general, then density functional theory and the ABINIT, then elastic properties of materials in general. In the last part, computational details are given and the results are analysed. Planar indiene is a transversely isotropic material for small strains. Its Young's modulus is 31,0 \(Nm^{-1})\ , making it very flexible 2D material suitable for strain engineering of electronic properties. Poisson's ratio is 0,118 for small strains, and shear modulus is 13,9 \(Nm^{-1})\ . The energy of the crystal cell and the pressure as functions of biaxial, armchair and zigzag strain are shown. They show that planar indiene is anisotropic material under larger strains because it has different properties for different strain directions. For tensile zigzag strain exceeding 8%, planar indiene exhibits negative Poisson's ratio
