ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IN THE CROATIAN LODGING INDUSTRY
Notwithstanding the great environmental and operational issues facing Croatia’s hoteliers, very little is known about managers’ awareness of them. To fill this gap, this study examines the awareness of Croatian hoteliers of important environmental issues, e.g. the need to use natural resources efficiently, to preserve the cultural heritage, etc. Specifically, it reports on the attitudes of Croatian hoteliers towards the environment, and tests whether various hotel characteristics determine such attitudes. The article concludes that hoteliers tend to favour environmental issues, and that these attitudes are generally independent of hotel characteristics

E-commerce solution as a support to business activities of the large hotels in Croatia: a survey
Nowadays, the integration of a global economy, in which each subject is interconnected with others and competes on international markets, is significantly supported by development of e-commerce. Global competition results in more transparent offerings and prices. These are often presented/supported by different e-commerce solutions in various business areas and in tourism in particular. Tourists in the role of customers, to a greater extent, register their preferences through hotels' websites, make online reservations and, if it is possible, pay for the accommodation immediately. The mentioned activities/functionalities additionally indicate higher quality level of hotel services and create new business opportunities thus resulting in better hotel turnover as a whole. The objective of our research is to examine and measure the provision and benefits of the e-commerce solutions of the large hotels in Croatia, which are usually a part of the larger hotel chains
ACCEPTANCE AND PERCEIVED EFFECTIVENESS OF BIOMETRICS AND OTHER AIRPORT SECURITY PROCEDURES
Biometrics are automated methods of recognizing a person based on a physiological or behavioural characteristic – i.e., face, fingerprints, hand geometry, handwriting, iris, retinal, vein, and voice. Travellers are examined on their acceptance and perceived effectiveness of biometric technologies in airport security using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Additional analysis is performed separately to check for possible moderating effects of respondents’ gender, age, education, income, and flying frequency. Findings suggest that some travellers perceive biometric technologies as both acceptable and effective in making travel safer. The results of this study also show very few effects of gender, age, education, income, and flying frequency on biometrics’ acceptance and perceived effectiveness
