Animation as a source of competitive advantage in the Outdoor Hospitality Industry

    No full text
This study aims to indicate how animation services in the outdoor hospitality industry (OHI) can deliver a competitive advantage. To explore this, the variables that affect the multidimensional construct of animation in the OHI have been identified and measured according to the resource-based view model. Data collection was conducted through expert interviews with professionals working in the sector. The study identifies 25 animation-related variables and examines how they contribute to competitiveness using the Valuable, Rare, Inimitable, Non-substitutable (VRIN) framework. The results show that animation goes beyond entertainment, serving as a tool for guest satisfaction and retention. The contribution of this research is twofold: first, from a theoretical point of view, it positions animation as a resource capable of generating sustainable competitive advantage. It also complements the VRIN framework with insights from Service-Dominant Logic, emphasising the importance of emotional engagement and value co-creation. Second, from a practical point of view, the findings offer campsite managers a framework to evaluate animation services and integrate them more strategically into their operations. This study calls to revalue animation as a core component of campsite identity and guest experience, rather than a secondary service. It contributes to the broader discussion on competitiveness in tourism while highlighting the often-underestimated role of animation in the OHI

    Understanding Camping Sector in China

    No full text
Camping tourism in China has grown rapidly, especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, but its long-term development faces challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, unclear regulations, and shifting consumer preferences. Despite rising interest, limited research combines both camper behavior and stakeholder perspectives. This study aims to explore who Chinese campers are, what motivates them, how they choose campsites, and the challenges faced in the industry. Using a mixed-methods approach, it includes a quantitative online survey with 404 respondents and qualitative interviews with campers, campsite operators, and association representatives. The findings show that most campers are younger individuals or young families who prefer short trips near cities, typically using tents. Their main motivations are escaping urban life, spending time with loved ones, and enjoying nature. Campers prioritize basic facilities such as clean restrooms, water, and electricity. However, issues like regulatory ambiguity, poor infrastructure, and low environmental awareness persist. The study highlights the need for better collaboration among stakeholders to support sustainable growth. Campsite operators should improve infrastructure and offer engaging experiences, while policymakers need to provide clearer, more adaptable regulations. Industry associations should also strengthen communication and knowledge-sharing within the sector

Corrosion of the underwater part of a ship is a common issue that can lead to serious damage and increased maintenance costs. To protect vessels, different methods of cathodic protection are used, with sacrificial anodes and impressed current systems being the most common. This paper analyzes and compares these two methods in terms of effectiveness, cost, maintenance, and their application on different types of ships. Environmental impact and technical requirements of each system are also considered. Based on collected data and real-life examples, recommendations are provided on which method is more suitable for specific conditions. The goal of this paper is to give a clear overview of the advantages and disadvantages of both protection methods and assist in choosing the optimal solution

    No full text
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common chronic gastrointestinal disorder that greatly influences patients’ quality of life and represents a growing public health concern. Characterized by typical and atypical symptoms, GERD encompasses a range of clinical phenotypes and is associated with complications such as erosive esophagitis and Barrett’s esophagus. This review intends to provide a thorough overview of current scientific knowledge on the etiological factors, risk determinants, and pathophysiology of GERD, while exploring diagnostic challenges and therapeutic approaches. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) remain the mainstay of medical therapy; however, concerns regarding their long-term safety have encouraged interest in adjunctive and alternative strategies. Emerging pharmacological agents, plant-based treatments, and integrative approaches rooted in traditional medicine offer promising modalities for enhanced management. Additionally, dietary and lifestyle modifications such as weight control, meal timing, and avoidance of trigger foods, are essential components of effective care. A multidisciplinary framework incorporating pharmacological, nutritional, and behavioral strategies is emphasized as the most reliable path toward personalized and sustainable GERD management. This review further aims to synthesize current therapeutic modalities and evolving perspectives in the treatment of GERD

    No full text
This thesis examines the topic of taxation related to the purchase and acquisition of ownership of a new passenger car in the Republic of Croatia. The relevance of the topic stems from the fact that it represents a significant source of public revenue in the state budget, while also serving as a policy instrument for achieving objectives beyond purely fiscal ones. The applicable taxes in this context are the Value Added Tax and the Special Tax on Motor Vehicles, both of which fall under the category of transaction taxes. The paper begins by defining the basic characteristics of taxes, which, as important financial instruments, represent the main source of state revenue. It then provides a detailed analysis of the Value Added Tax and the Special Tax on Motor Vehicles, covering all key tax-related and legal elements of these forms of taxation. The main legal framework includes the Value Added Tax Act and the Special Tax on Motor Vehicles Act, along with the application of implementing and procedural tax regulations. In the final part of the paper, examples are presented to illustrate the tax treatment of acquiring a new passenger car, depending on the type of fuel it uses. The conclusion highlights the significance and effects of the taxation of new passenger cars within the Croatian tax and legal system
