    No full text
This master thesis compares static, dynamic, and hybrid network load balancing algorithms in a cloud computing environment. Following a theoretical overview of the internet and cloud technologies, simulations were conducted for each type of algorithm. The analysis confirmed the working hypothesis that hybrid algorithms provide an optimal balance of performance and flexibility, proving to be the most suitable for dynamic environments. The thesis contributes to a better understanding of algorithm efficiency in modern network systems

Takvi sustavi značajno smanjuju zastoje, poboljšavaju učinkovitost i osiguravaju usklađenost s međunarodnim propisima. Bez obzira na strategiju, kvalitetno i pravodobno održavanje ostaje nužan preduvjet za sigurnu i ekonomičnu plovidbu.Ship maintenance has long been a crucial factor in ensuring navigational safety, extending vessel lifespan, and supporting the stable operation of shipping companies. Modern demands for reliability and safety have led to the development of various maintenance strategies – from corrective and preventive approaches to advanced models such as TPM, RCM, and self-maintaining systems. Maintenance management no longer relies solely on crew experience, but increasingly utilizes digital tools like the AMOS system, which enables the planning, monitoring, and optimization of all ship maintenance and resource operations. Such systems significantly reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with international regulations. Regardless of the chosen strategy, timely and high-quality maintenance remains an essential prerequisite for safe and cost-effective navigation

Comparing the Impact of Different Antiarrhythmic Classes on Clinical Outcomes Following Atrial Fibrillation Catheter Ablation

    No full text
Background/Objectives: Catheter ablation has become the standard of care for patients with symptomatic and drug-refractory atrial fibrillation (AF). Both Class IC and Class III antiarrhythmic drugs (AADs) are effective in preventing early recurrences of AF, but not late recurrences, compared with the usual care. We aimed to compare the effects of two months of Class IC versus Class III AADs following AF catheter ablation on clinical outcomes, including arrhythmia recurrence and safety endpoints. Methods: All patients undergoing AF catheter ablation between January 2015 and November 2024 were screened, and cases meeting the inclusion criteria were included. Primary outcome was defined as atrial tachycardia recurrence-free survival. Results: A total of 98 patients (mean age 54.2 ± 14.0 years; 55.1% male) were enrolled, with 66.3% presenting with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). The mean left atrial diameter was 38.7 ± 5.1 mm, and 78.6% underwent cryoballoon ablation. Class IC AADs were administered to 62 cases, while the remaining 36 patients received amiodarone following catheter ablation. The rate of atrial tachycardia (ATa) recurrence was comparable between the patients treated with Class IC and Class III AADs (9.7% vs. 19.4%; p = 0.169). Predictors of ATa recurrence were identified as history of direct current cardioversion—DCCV (HR: 5.86; 95%CI: 1.44–23.82)—and LA diameter (HR: 1.17; 95%CI: 1.04–1.31). The most frequent AAD-related adverse event was symptomatic bradycardia (6.1%), which resolved in all cases following dose reduction. Conclusions: Class IC and Class III antiarrhythmics show comparable efficacy in terms of preventing ATa recurrence following AF catheter ablation. AAD-related adverse event rates are negligible for short-term use

Objectives: To determine the nursing intention to leave in critical care units and explore related factors along with work environment and sociodemographic variables. Design and setting: Quantitative cross-sectional study in five European countries (Spain, Poland, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania) through a self-administered survey in 2021. Methods: The "AACN Critical elements of a healthy work environment scale. National Survey of Critical-Care Nurse Work Environments" by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses was distributed to all nurses working in intensive care units through a convenience sampling method. The questionnaire included questions about healthy work environment, burnout, violence, intention to leave and sociodemographics. Results: 1033 responses were analysed. Participants from each country varied between 75 and 275 nurses. Mean age was 37.3 years old (SD 9.9) with a mean nursing experience in critical care of 10.8 (9.2) years. Despite 83.1 % of the nurses were satisfied with their current job, 22.8 % planned to leave their position. Intention to leave was independently associated with the country, gender, age, satisfaction with current job and frequency of moral distress (p < 0.05) along with several work-related variables, such as lower perception of a healthy work environment. Among the reasons to reconsider leaving the job, the most rated were higher salary and benefits (87.2 %), better staffing (85.3 %) and meaningful recognition (82 %). Conversely, the most relevant reasons that kept nurses working in their organisation, were salary and benefits and the people they work with. Conclusion: Almost one out of three critical care nurses are considering leaving their job. Many aspects of the work environment that influence the intention to leave are modifiable. Implications for clinical practice: Managers need to prioritise the retention of registered nurses, not only recruiting new personnel. Many aspects of the working environment need to be addressed in other to retain critical care nurses

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of Twin Block appliance therapy on skeletal, dentoalveolar, and facial soft tissue characteristics. The study included 18 participants with Class II skeletal malocclusion who were treated with the Twin Block appliance. Lateral cephalograms and 3D face scans were analyzed before and after therapy for each participant. Dependent t-test results showed a significant increase in the protrusion of the lower incisors (p < 0.001), proclination of the lower incisors (p = 0.021), SNB (p = 0.005), Ls:E (p = 0.040), mandibular length (p < 0.001), and soft tissue mandible length (p < 0.001) and a significant decrease in the ANB (p = 0.003), Wits (p = 0.001), ANPG (p = 0.001), and overbite (p = 0.001) and the retrusion of upper incisors (p = 0.002). Twin Block therapy caused changes in skeletal and soft tissue characteristics. The increase in the SNB angle and mandibular length, accompanied by the decrease in the ANB and Wits values reduced the skeletal discrepancy. The reduction in the ANPG indicated an improvement in the skeletal profile. Additionally, the increase in the soft tissue mandible length and distance between the upper lip and E-line contributed to improved esthetic soft tissue profile characteristics

New PSMA Targeted Radionuclides in the Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer in Nuclear Medicine

    No full text
Imaging in PCa has evolved with new nuclear medicine techniques. PET/CT combined with PSMA targeted radionuclides has now been established as the new gold standard. 68-Ga-PSMA-11 and 18F-DCFPyL demonstrate superior spatial resolution, sensitivity and specificity, even with low PSA values which makes them suitable for many patients. However, due to their physical properties and their production requirements, their distribution is highly limited by infrastructure. Alternatively, 99mTc-PSMA I&S with SPECT/CT offers a widely available alternative, particularly in regions with limited access to PET/CT facilities although its main disadvantage is its lower spatial resolution. Non-PSMA targeted radiopharmaceuticals like 18F-FDG and 18F-Fluciclovine play a subordinate role in the diagnosis of PCa due to lower specificity and high incidence of false-positive results. However, 18F-Methylcholine still remains valuable in selected cases, especially in biochemical recurrence. In summary, while PSMA PET/CT imaging represents the best option for PCa detection, alternative imaging strategies remain important in the interim phase where resources are rare

The purpose of the specialist thesis is to explain the impact of online shopping on consumer impulse buying. Shopping is necessary for the basic functioning of life, but the question arises when it is excessive and unnecessary. Although it can be harmful to consumers who will feel regret, impulse buying is something that the market and companies are very much counting on. The process of making a purchase decision is influenced by factors such as psychological, social and cultural, which are the subject of study of numerous economic experts. Marketing exists so that companies can convince consumers that their products will change their lives and become an integral part of their new everyday life. Impulse buying is important for economic growth and cash flow, and it is accompanied by stereotypes such as women buying more and more often than men. The problem arises when impulse buying begins to turn into compulsive buying. Compulsive buying has serious economic consequences, such as citizens becoming over-indebted, who are generally not provided with any help or advice for their problems. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the process of making a purchase decision in an online environment under the pressure of all the marketing tricks and tools developed to support impulsive buying. This thesis will contribute to the profession by analyzing factors and environments that have often been neglected in the study of impulsive buying and its negative impact. The results of the conducted research indicate the acceptance of four out of six hypotheses. Online shopping has increased consumer impulsive buying compared to physical stores, but only in the case of luxury goods such as clothing and cosmetics. However, the majority of respondents are still aware of their financial ability and stability, although a higher percentage of women stated that they shop more often because shopping has a positive impact on their mood. It has been shown that the diversity of online offerings does not lead residents of rural areas to make larger purchases despite the lack of physical stores in their area, but younger people are still more prone to impulsive purchases than older people who make more rational financial decisions

Kroz sustavno razmatranje normativnog okvira (Zakona o trgovačkim društvima) i pravne prakse, rad nudi cjelovit uvid u funkcionalnost i izazove ovog oblika trgovačkog društva u suvremenom gospodarskom kontekstu.A general partnership (j.t.d.) is a classic form of a partnership in Croatian commercial law, based on personal commitment and mutual trust of its members. Unlike capital companies, members of a j.t.d. are personally, unlimitedly and jointly liable for the company's obligations, which further enhances the importance of their loyalty and conscientious conduct. The paper analyzes the legal nature and characteristics of a j.t.d. with an emphasis on the establishment, rights and obligations of members, management of business, representation towards third parties, legal relations between members, as well as the reasons and consequences of the company's termination and the course of the liquidation procedure. It also addresses the issues of members' withdrawal, their liability after the termination of membership and the statute of limitations. Through a systematic examination of the normative framework (the Companies Act) and legal practice, the paper offers a comprehensive insight into the functionality and challenges of this form of company in the contemporary economic context
