The Dark Side of the Metaverse: Managing Conflict and Human Resource Management Challenges in Virtual Environments.

    No full text
Nowadays, the metaverse represents a disruptive technology that companies are increasingly integrating into their business models, particularly in human resource management. One of the most promising aspects of its adoption concerns knowledge management, as virtual environments can enhance collaboration, knowledge sharing, and training. However, despite its recognized potential, the metaverse can also generate conflicts among employees, which may negatively impact organizational dynamics. Virtual interactions differ significantly from traditional face-to-face communication, potentially leading to misunderstandings, power imbalances, and increased tensions among team members. This paper explores this “dark side” of the metaverse by focusing on conflict management within virtual teams. To investigate this phenomenon, a case study methodology was adopted, which is particularly suitable for analyzing contemporary and emerging topics. Specifically, the study examines relevant cases of innovative companies that have implemented metaverse-based solutions in their operations. The findings highlight key challenges in managing team conflicts within virtual environments and provide valuable insights into mitigating such tensions. Moreover, the study offers practical implications for HR managers and IT specialists, outlining strategies to foster a more effective and conflict-resilient virtual workspace. By addressing these challenges, organizations can better harness the full potential of the metaverse while minimizing its risks

Gender equality presupposes equal opportunities and equal treatment for every individual, whether male or female, equal access to resources, equal treatment in the workplace, education and healthcare. Even today, women are oppressed and harassed by a world that is still male-dominated, bound by gender stereotypes and the idea that women are only good for housework and are subject to violence and harassment. Disparity affects women, but not men, which is why identifying strategies to protect and safeguard women cannot and should not be considered discriminatory towards men. A civil legal system must guarantee strict compliance with the principles of fairness, equality and non-discrimination, so as to ensure effective equality for every member of society, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion or race. This paper therefore reviews the various measures taken over time in the field of gender equality, from welfare policies to active policies.L’uguaglianza di genere presuppone pari opportunità ed un eguale trattamento per qualsivoglia individuo, uomo o donna che sia, eguale accesso alle risorse, eguale trattamento lavorativo, didattico ed educativo, sanitario.

Development and Validation of the Riemma Inflammation Score for Endometriosis (RISE): A Preoperative Tool to Predict Disease Presence and Deep Infiltrating Phenotype

Background: Endometriosis is a chronic, inflammatory gynaecological disease characterised by ectopic endometrial tissue and systemic immune activation. Despite advances in imaging, the diagnosis of endometriosis—particularly deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE)—remains delayed and frequently requires surgery for confirmation. The RISE score (Riemma Inflammation Score for Endometriosis) was designed as a pragmatic, low-cost, and biologically grounded diagnostic tool integrating inflammatory, biochemical, and clinical parameters to identify women with endometriosis and to discriminate between superficial and deep phenotypes. Methods: This prospective two-step study enrolled consecutive women undergoing surgical assessment for suspected endometriosis. In Step 1, candidate variables including CA-125, neutrophil, platelet and monocyte counts, lymphocyte- to-monocyte ratio (LMR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), albumin, and pain scores were recorded prior to surgery. A multivariate predictive model was developed using logistic and LASSO regression to identify women with histologically confirmed endometriosis versus controls. In Step 2, a refined model was derived to distinguish deep from superficial disease among affected women. Each model underwent internal validation and calibration testing. Results: In Step 1, the RISE model achieved excellent discrimination for endometriosis (AUC = 0.904, 95 % CI 0.871–0.939), with sensitivity = 0.86 and specificity = 0.81 at an optimal cut-off of 0.418. Calibration was almost perfect (slope = 1.02; intercept = –0.05; Hosmer–Lemeshow p = 0.976). Key predictors included monocyte count, LMR, serum albumin, and dysmenorrhoea severity. 4 In Step 2, the RISE model successfully differentiated deep from superficial endometriosis (AUC = 0.742, 95 % CI 0.653–0.830; sensitivity = 0.64; specificity = 0.76; cut-off = 0.381; Hosmer–Lemeshow p = 0.368). Low albumin and reduced LMR were the strongest discriminants of deep infiltrating lesions. Discussion: The RISE project demonstrated that systemic inflammatory and biochemical alterations can accurately predict both the presence and the depth of endometriotic disease. The two-step approach, prospectively validated, mirrors clinical reasoning: first recognising disease presence, then defining its severity. The RISE framework thereby bridges laboratory and clinical diagnostics, offering a reproducible, inexpensive, and accessible adjunct to imaging-based evaluation. Conclusions: The RISE score represents an innovative and biologically plausible tool that quantifies systemic inflammation to predict endometriosis presence and phenotype. Its strong diagnostic performance, prospective validation, and feasibility suggest potential for widespread clinical implementation and integration into modern diagnostic algorithms. External multicentric validation and incorporation with imaging or molecular data are warranted to confirm its clinical and prognostic utility

The phraseological inventory of the world's various languages constitutes a unique linguistic heritage, and their singular objects, the phrasemes, when read attentively, often also represent the historical-cultural specificities of the associated communities. In recent years, phraseological research has shown increasing interest in famous quotations or winged words that serve as the basis for the creation of patterns; however, such studies have so far been limited to individual case studies. There are no studies that have systematically addressed the topic through an analysis of quotations codified in respective language collections. The present research addresses the need to provide such a project for the Italian language and the famous quotations pertaining to the literary tradition, thereby marking the beginning of a possible series of in-depth empirical phraseological studies aimed at filling gaps in linguistic research on famous quotations. The study aims to analyze famous Italian literary quotations identified in the collection “Chi l’ha detto? Tesoro di citazioni” by Giuseppe Fumagalli and associated with the authors considered major figures in Italian literature from a phraseological perspective. By conducting an analysis based on the digital textual corpus itTenTen20 from Sketch Engine, the research sheds light on the phenomena of propagation, variability, and schematicity of famous literary quotations in modern communicative contexts.L’inventario fraseologico delle diverse lingue nel mondo è un patrimonio unico linguistico e i loro oggetti singolari, i frasemi, se letti con attenzione, rappresentano spesso anche le particolarità storico-culturali delle comunità associate.

    No full text
The essay arises from a fundamental need in museology: to always keep in mind the strong connection between the museum and the present, as well as the role it has assumed in the contemporary world. This involves recovering and assessing the key aspects of its historical trajectory, which constitute the "backbone" of any theory or intervention project concerning the institution itself. Starting from the (mainly institutional) history of the Museo Campano and briefly traversing its 150 years, the intention is to reflect on some of the museum's milestones that help clarify its current limitations, evident contradictions, and significant potential
