Lengthening periods of hospitalization, increasing numbers of patients with age-related complications, and a shortage of nursing staff have been of great concern in medical psychiatry in Japan. Under these circumstances, countries such as Japan that face a super-aging society and a decline in the working-age population, have been recommended for use of advanced information and communications technology (ICT) to improve the efficiency of medical treatment and care. This study aims to develop the “Monitoring Application for Inappropriate Expressions in Nursing Records” for using PsyNACS©, which will enable psychiatric nursing plans to harness the advantages of ICT. The functions considered necessary are as follows: 1) identification of users who enter information; 2) a necessary database for lists of inappropriate expressions; 3) development of a matching function to recommend proper writing input and a warning function; and 4) a management function for an inappropriate expression list database. A demonstration experiment for developing the application in this study was conducted at a specialized psychiatric hospital. To introduce them to the application, nurses and nurse managers were informed about the system developed in this study, and a survey regarding their opinions on the functions of the application was conducted with ten nurse managers. The results were evaluated in terms of usefulness for nursing care, documentation, and the education of nurses from an ethical perspective. This study suggests that matching their input with an inappropriate expression database will allow nurses to record more appropriate expressions. From an ethical perspective, the ability to use appropriate expressions makes records more likely to withstand disclosure requests from patients and their families.journal articl

Up until now, sports in Japan have been managed mainly by schools and companies, but now sports called lifestyle sports such as surfing and skateboarding are growing at a rapid pace. Skateboarding can be said to have changed its recognition and attention the most before and after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Influenced by this, local governments are holding events that incorporate skateboarding to create excitement. Originally, it should not be possible for the government, which is at the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of values, to promote this, so why are these efforts being made? In order to understand what kind of practices are actually being carried out, we will discuss three cases in Tokushima Prefecture that differ in the nature of the management body and the degree of understanding of counterculture that differs from that of major sports. The purpose of this study is to understand the current state of skateboarding events promoted by Japan, and to clarify the problems and challenges of their management methods. As a result of fieldwork, factors such as a mismatch between the old style and the park's new style, controlled management versus counterculture, lack of understanding of street culture, and differences in culture and enjoyment between different events even within the same street culture were revealed. We believe that this is largely influenced by their experience with lifestyle sports such as skateboarding and their understanding of counterculture. With more skateboarding events expected to be held in the future than ever before, the government needs to understand the history of skateboarding and the nature of its physical culture. On the competitors' side, it can be said that the key to success will be to successfully combine public nature and counterculture through mutual compromise, while also taking into account the trend toward a newly formed sport. To this end, it is urgent to create a new management format in which all those involved in the event form their own positions and from a public perspective.departmental bulletin pape

Ability of NAD and Sirt1 to epigenetically suppress albuminuria

    Get PDF
The time for diabetic nephropathy (DN) to progress from mild to severe is long. Thus, methods to continuously repress DN are required to exert long-lasting effects mediated through epigenetic regulation. In this study, we demonstrated the ability of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and its metabolites to reduce albuminuria through Sirt1- or Nampt-dependent epigenetic regulation. We previously reported that proximal tubular Sirt1 was lowered before glomerular Sirt1. Repressed glomerular Sirt1 was found to epigenetically elevate Claudin-1. In addition, we reported that proximal tubular Nampt deficiency epigenetically augmented TIMP-1 levels in Sirt6-mediated pathways, leading to type-IV collagen deposition and diabetic fibrosis. Altogether, we propose that the Sirt1/Claudin-1 axis may be crucial in the onset of albuminuria at the early stages of DN and that the Nampt/Sirt6/TIMP-1 axis promotes diabetic fibrosis in the middle to late stages of DN. Finally, administration of NMN, an NAD precursor, epigenetically potentiates the regression of the onset of DN to maintain Sirt1 and repress Claudin-1 in podocytes, suggesting the potential use of NAD metabolites as epigenetic medications for DN.journal articl

Causal Inference and Prefix Prompt Engineering Based on Text Generation Models for Financial Argument Analysis

    Get PDF
The field of argument analysis has become a crucial component in the advancement of natural language processing, which holds the potential to reveal unprecedented insights from complex data and enable more efficient, cost-effective solutions for enhancing human initiatives. Despite its importance, current technologies face significant challenges, including (1) low interpretability, (2) lack of precision and robustness, particularly in specialized fields like finance, and (3) the inability to deploy effectively on lightweight devices. To address these challenges, we introduce a framework uniquely designed to process and analyze massive volumes of argument data efficiently and accurately. This framework employs a text-to-text Transformer generation model as its backbone, utilizing multiple prompt engineering methods to fine-tune the model. These methods include Causal Inference from ChatGPT, which addresses the interpretability problem, and Prefix Instruction Fine-tuning as well as in-domain further pre-training, which tackle the issues of low robustness and accuracy. Ultimately, the proposed framework generates conditional outputs for specific tasks using different decoders, enabling deployment on consumer-grade devices. After conducting extensive experiments, our method achieves high accuracy, robustness, and interpretability across various tasks, including the highest F1 scores in the NTCIR-17 FinArg-1 tasks.journal articl

Effect of virtual reality self‑counseling with the intimate other avatar

    No full text
Virtual reality self-counseling (VR-SC) is considered an effective approach for addressing mental health problems. Previous studies have shown the effectiveness of VR-SC using Sigmund Freud’s avatar as the counselor. However, considering that virtual reality (VR) enables embodied perspective-taking of another person, VR-SC using the avatar of a person who cares about the participant (an intimate person), such as a family member or friend, is considered effective because it could create warm attitudes toward the participants themselves. In this study, 60 undergraduate and graduate students were split into three conditions: VR-SC with intimate persons, VR-SC with Freud, and a control group. The intervention effects were then compared. The results showed that VR-SC with an intimate person was the most effective in improving anxiety symptoms. These results may be attributed to accepting and affirming oneself from the perspective of the intimate person’s avatar and counseling oneself. This study is significant in that it is the first to conduct VR-SC with the avatar of an intimate person and compare the effects with Freud’s avatar. More importantly, it showed that the same VR-SC method could have different effects depending on the avatar of the counseling partner.journal articl

Total Utilization of Components Contained in Coconut Husk by Microwave-Assisted Thermal Hydrolysis and Deep Eutectic Solvent Treatment

    Get PDF
Microwave-assisted thermal hydrolysis treatment (MW: 150 W for 0–10 min) was used to obtain water-soluble and ethanol-soluble antioxidants from coconut husk (CH). The water extract with a maximum amount of phenolic compounds, i.e. 57.3 mg-catechin equiv./g-dry treated CH, was obtained from treated CH at 150 W for 10 min. Next, to efficiently utilize the lignin and cellulose in CH, a comprehensive utilization system that includes deep eutectic solvent (DES) treatment, separation, enzymatic saccharification, and acetone extraction has been developed. The solid residue with a cellulose-rich residue fraction was obtained by effectively removing lignin and hemicellulose via DES treatment. After 0.5 h at 150 °C, the solid residue had a cellulose ratio of more than 40% and it was used as a substrate of enzymatic saccharification. The saccharification ratio raised considerably with the DES treatment; at a saccharification time of 24 h with a maximum value of 2.11 g/L, which was 6.8 times higher than untreated CH. Since the precipitate contains low-molecular-weight lignin that was isolated from the supernatant of the DES-treated CH, it can be utilized as a raw material of epoxy resin and curing agent.journal articl

Molybdenum–Based Electrocatalysts for Direct Alcohol Fuel Cells : A Critical Review

    Get PDF
Direct alcohol fuel cells (DAFCs) have gained much attention as promising energy conversion devices due to their ability to utilize alcohol as a fuel source. In this regard, Molybdenum-based electrocatalysts (Mo-ECs) have emerged as a substitution for expensive Pt and Ru–based co-catalyst electrode materials in DAFCs, owing to their unique electrochemical properties useful for alcohol oxidation. The catalytic activity of Mo-ECs displays an increase in alcohol oxidation current density by several folds to 1000–2000 mA mgPt−1, compared to commercial Pt and PtRu catalysts of 10–100 mA mgPt−1. In addition, the methanol oxidation peak and onset potential have been significantly reduced by 100–200 mV and 0.5–0.6 V, respectively. The performance of Mo-ECs in both acidic and alkaline media has shown the potential to significantly reduce the Pt loading. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the bifunctional mechanism involved in the oxidation of alcohols and factors affecting the electrocatalytic oxidation of alcohol, such as synthesis method, structural properties, and catalytic support materials. Furthermore, the challenges and prospects of Mo-ECs for DAFCs anode materials are discussed. This in-depth review serves as valuable insight toward enhancing the performance and efficiency of DAFC by employing Mo-ECs.journal articl

    Molybdenum-Catalyzed Enantioselective Ring-Closing Metathesis/Kinetic Resolution of Racemic Planar-Chiral 1,1′-Diallylferrocenes

    Get PDF
The molybdenum-catalyzed enantioselective ring-closing metathesis/kinetic resolution of a series of racemic planar-chiral 1,1′-diallylferrocene derivatives was reinvestigated utilizing the method of generating catalytically active chiral molybdenum-alkylidene species in situ, which allowed us to examine a variety of chiral molybdenum-alkylidene metathesis precatalysts in the present asymmetric reaction. With the catalyst screening experiments conducted in this study, the more practical reaction conditions, including a choice of a proper chiral molybdenum precatalyst, giving planar-chiral ferrocenes of higher enantiomeric purity and better chemoselectivity could be optimized.journal articl
