[EN] The distributed ledger technology offered by blockchain, the possibilities enabled by cloud technology, together with the proposal of zero-knowledge cryptographic protocols, allow for the design of identification systems (passport) managed from the creation phase by the users themselves, leaving the authority, traditionally responsible for creation, with the role of verifying the legitimacy of the credential and registering it if affirmed. This approach ensures that the user is the only one who knows the secrets that provide cryptographic security in acts of identification or document signing. As a backup measure, the user will distribute sufficient information among a group of authorities with conflicting interests, so that it is possible to recover the secrets to reconstruct the passport, while ensuring that this cannot be done by coalitions of authorities smaller than a certain threshold.
This Master's Thesis proposes the design of a Self-Sovereign Digital Passport and its deployment using blockchain technology for the immutable registration of credentials, and cloud infrastructure for the deployment of management and usage applications. The objective is to provide an identification created by the user without depending on a central authority, capable of easily evolving through the addition of new functionalities, easy to use for the user, accessible at all times on a mobile device, and including a security mechanism that allows the user to reconstruct the passport in case of loss.
[EN] This Bachelor’s Thesis focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of improvements in the Level 1 Instruction Cache (L1I) of an academic purpose RISC-V processor. The starting point is an educational simulator whose original memory design featured a direct-mapped organization, which limited both performance analysis regarding conflicts and experimentation with more complex architectures. The main objective of the project has been to provide the processor with a more flexible and efficient internal cache structure. To this end, two fundamental architectural improvements have been developed and integrated using Verilog. First, a parametrizable N-way set-associative organization has been implemented, managed by an LRU (Least Recently Used) replacement policy, designed to mitigate conflict misses. Second, an instruction prediction technique (Next-Line Prefetching) has been incorporated making use of a dedicated buffer, with the aim of leveraging spatial locality and reducing latency in cache misses. Additionally, the simulator’s graphical interface has been adapted to allow real-time visualization of these new structures (ways, sets, and buffer), thereby facilitating the understanding of the dynamic behavior of the hardware. The design validation has been carried out through two types of experiments: the execution of programs in the simulator and hardware synthesis tests using industrial tools. The subsequent analysis evaluates the impact of each strategy, contrasting the obtained performance metrics against the physical cost in terms of area and power. Biodegradation of Poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) in simulated sublittoral marine environment, as affected by reinforcing and antimicrobial agents
[EN] Biodegradation of bioplastics in marine ecosystems is affected by biotic and abiotic factors related to the marine zone and the material composition. In this study, the biodegradation and disintegration behavior of PHBV films containing or not containing catechin and cellulose fibers was studied in a simulated Sublittoral zone at laboratory scale. The films were produced by melt blending and compression molding. Biodegradation rate was monitored through the respirometric method, according to the standard ISO 19,679:2020. Disintegration rate (mass loss) of the samples was also analyzed at different exposure times, while the changes in microstructure and thermal behavior of the residual film were characterized. Likewise, the influence of the antimicrobial (catechin) on the bacterial biofilm and taxonomic profiles after 200 exposure days was studied by DNA extraction and the analysis by Amplicon Sequencing. Cellulose fibers slightly accelerated the films' biodegradation by promoting bulk hydrolysis in the matrix due to their hydrophilic nature. In contrast, Catechin delayed the biodegradation and disintegration of PHBV films, which was attributed to its crosslinking effect in the polymer amorphous phase and its influence on the biofilm bacterial population, which could reduce the predominance of enzyme-producing bacteria responsible for film depolymerization. The authors acknowledge the financial support of projects PID2022-140444OB-I00 (Agencia Estatal de Investigacion) and CIPROM/2021/071 (Generalitat Valenciana) and postdoctoral grant APOST/2021/19 of C.I.A.
[EN] The Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (Sakyamuni Pagoda of Fogong Temple), the world's oldest and tallest
extant multi-story timber structure, is not only an architectural masterpiece of ancient China but is
also renowned as one of the "Three Great Miracle Towers of the World," alongside the Leaning Tower
of Pisa (Italy) and the Eiffel Tower (France). Its resilience, having endured nearly a millennium of
weathering, earthquakes, and conflicts, presents a profound scientific and cultural enigma worthy of
in-depth investigation. This study selects the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda as its central subject, aiming to

Beyond conservation: a wider approach to historical and cultural heritage. Sagunto, Murviedro and the monumental hill
[EN] The relationship between old and new is one of the main theme of contamporary architecture. The comparison between the contemporary city, the ruins of archaeological complexes, the myth of their, is however a controversial theme. It’s always destined to find a new balance, since the Modern time, when archaeology was defined as an autonomous discipline with respect to architecture. Since then we suffer for the ‘fatal separation’ between architecture and archaeology: united by the same desire to question time and shapes, but separated due to the outcomes of their researches. If the first, in its most enlightened expressions, proposes to carry on the deep meaning of crumbling shapes through new logical-syntactic compositions, the second limits itself to “reconstructing the history and art of remote times through the remains of the past, on which it bases a series of reflections, reconstructions, interesting conjectures, highly scientific, but absolutely infertile for life”. The most orthodox interpretation of archaeology leads to the conservation as a static form of knowledge, crystallizing the event in the suspended time of a still-image. But when architecture applies in the concrete of a layered site, it should instead lean towards a perspective of renewed knowledge that admits the re-construction as a tool to reach the intelligibility of the underlying potential shape. In order to the main topic of this conference this contribution aims to show how it’s possible today work on the relationship between old and new not only for conservation reasons, rather to add ‘something new’ that can explain ‘something old’. Some of our project – such as the project for the Roman Forum of Sagunto – are paradigm which thinks on the ontological relationship between architecture and archaeology. One of the goals is showing again the urban and landscaping relationships that have historically characterized the image of these sites.Tolve, V. (2026).
[EN] The proposal is based on a high-performance training center for vocational students in Albal, designed to support Valencia's FP schools. Given its location at a central point within the industrial estate zone of l'Horta Sud, the idea is to provide a space where students pursuing local industry trades can carry out hands-on and practical workshops, while also forging direct links with the area s business owners and professionals.
The main structure is defined by two large, open-span canopies, under which the entire scheme unfolds. The center anticipates organic growth as demand increases, so workshops will be housed in independent modules that can be assembled progressively. Students will be taught by nearby teachers and instructors, and practical exercises will make use of waste materials sourced from factories and industrial units. A key feature is l'esmorzaret, the on-site café, which will serve as a meeting point between estate workers and students to foster connections and employment opportunities. There will also be a residence to facilitate the arrival of international students. Another critical element is the project s siting directly at Albal train station, creating a vital link with the town. The proposal aims to become the face of Albal, so that tram users will recognize and remember the municipality through this new center.
This project will be carried out with several factors in mind: sustainability, by reusing waste materials and promoting public transport; economic, by seeking collaboration with the local council and partnerships with businesses;and social, by creating a hub that links education and industry.
In short, this High-Performance Vocational Training Center in Albal is envisioned as a space dedicated to professional development through manual training, rooted in sustainability and social and labor ties. Its location beside the train station and at the heart of l'Horta Sud's industrial estates ensures optimal accessibility for both students and professionals. The project's modular, organic structure allows it to adapt to future training needs, while l esmorzaret and the residence strengthen the community and international networks. With these features, the proposal aspires to become an educational and socio-economic benchmark for l'Horta Sud and Valencia.Brand Sastre, J. (2025). Silencing of a glycosyltransferase-like protein in citrus reduces male and female fertility impacting seed development in self-pollinated fruit
[EN] Citrus species are among the most important fruit tree crops grown worldwide. Their long juvenile period joined with their complex genetic and reproductive characteristics severely hampers genomic studies and the improvement of traits of interest. Among these, seedlessness represents a major fruit quality trait. Genetic engineering is the fastest way to unequivocally characterize the function of citrus genes and to develop better varieties. In this study, two genes from Citrus clementina Hort. ex Tan., CcGLT1 and CcRBP1, that putatively encode a glycosyltransferase-like (GLT) protein and an RNA binding (RBP) family protein, respectively, were characterized as highly expressed in male and female reproductive tissues and then evaluated as candidate genes involved in male and/or female gametic development by silencing them using RNA interference (RNAi) in Carrizo citrange, used as model citrus type easy to transform. Concurrently, the early flowering and fruiting phenotype was induced by ectopic overexpression of the citrus ortholog of the floral integrator FLOWERING LOCUS T gene (FT) which enabled flower and fruit production less than six months after transformation. Histological observations of flower tissues from genetically modified plants showed that silencing CcGLT1 affects pollen performance by reducing pollen germinability and viability which results in an increased rate of ovule abortion resulting in fewer seeds in self-pollinated fruits. Conversely, the silencing of CcRBP1 led to severe alterations in plant growth and development in the transgenic RBP lines preventing the characterization of its role in fertility, which therefore remains unresolved. These results provide useful insights into male and female sterility in citrus for the genetic improvement of commercial varieties aimed to obtain seedless fruits. This work has been funded by Italian Ministry of University and Research PRIN 2022 Project Deciphering global warming effects on reproductive biology of Mediterranean mandarins, prot. 2022PMF3XE and EU Horizon 2020 Project Pre-HLB, grant no. 817526.Bennici, S.;Alquézar-García, Berta;Carmona-López, L.;Distefano, G.;Gentile, A.;Peña, L. Sport architecture technological evolution models and paradigms
[EN] The paper is focused on the thematic area "Innovative practices and projects" declined in the specific field of sports infrastructures. This area of research has always been little considered by both architectural historiography and technological culture, despite the fact that sports architecture has always represented privileged places of formal, technical and engineering experimentation (just think of the arenas of antiquity: Greece, Roman). An area, that of sports infrastructures, which, especially in recent times, has shown an extraordinary richness and complexity of content and an evolution in terms of technological and functional innovation which has no equal in any other architectural typology. The places and architecture for sports take on an increasingly strategic role - social, cultural - within the city and contemporary societies, becoming powerful engines of urban and social regeneration. Historically the prerogative of engineering culture, today the design of places for sport is instead an area of specialization for architecture and landscape studios who, through them, design new scenarios for future cities and landscapes. The main characteristics of the latest generation sports infrastructures can be summarized as follows: innovative technologies and materials; a new sensitivity to environmental quality and ecological and sustainability aspects (stadiums in particular are hubs for the production of energy from renewable sources); new "smart" technologies for the virtuous management of arenas; morphologies that interact with the landscape (urban, peri-urban) inserting themselves as elements of regeneration; macro-scale design objects whose "skins" become sensitive, green, adaptive elements with a changeable appearance; outdoor spaces that from car parks become parks and places with high environmental quality designed and conceived for a public use. The paper presents the results of several years of research on the topic through an evolutionary analysis and the presentation of some recent and significative case studies of the topics mentioned above.Allegri, D. Conjunt artístic a La Torre
[EN] In this Master s Thesis, an architectural complex is proposed, consisting of three buildings: an artist residency, an art gallery, and an artistic workshop. Located in the La Torre neighborhood (Valencia), the project emerges as an urban strategy to provide the area with cultural identity and visibility, revitalizing a peripheral urban environment through architecture, and above all, connecting the neighborhood s social fabric with its immediate agricultural surroundings, the Valencian huerta.
The proposal seeks to foster artistic and educational exchange, integrating spaces for creation, exhibition, and learning in relation to both the local community and external visitors. At the core of the complex lies a landscaped central park, which organizes pedestrian circulation and functions as an active public space. In addition to being an area for rest and social gathering, this space also displays outdoor sculptures, extending the exhibition program to the exterior and promoting interaction between art, landscape, and community.Chillemi, AM.
