[EN] In the paper [E. Jiménez-Fernández, J. Rodríguez-López, E. A. Sánchez-Pérez, Fuzzy Sets and Systems 406 (2021),66-81], a McShane-Whitney extension theorem is presented for real-valued fuzzy Lipschitz maps between fuzzy metric spaces. Specifically, the codomain space is considered as a so-called Euclidean fuzzy metric space (R, M ¿,g,*). However, while the function ¿ is only required to be increasing, some results of the paper implicitly assume that ¿ is invertible, even though this is not explicitly stated. We propose here an alternative possibility that only requires ¿ to be also left-continuous.Author s research is part of the project PID2022-139248NB-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and ERDF/EU.Jiménez-Fernández, E.;Rodríguez López, Jesús;Sánchez-Martín-Orozco, A.;Sánchez Pérez, Enrique Alfonso (2026). [EN] The main objective of the present academic work is the composition of an investment portfolio with IBEX 35 stocks using the Piotroski F-score to choose the stocks. The Piotroski model is a simple heuristic based on financial statements that seeks among stocks with a high book value, to differentiate between those that have a higher potential from those that are weaker. Initially, a review of the model proposed by Piotroski and its implications in the composition of the portfolio will be made. Subsequently, after obtaining the data, the model will be applied to IBEX 35 stocks. The aim will be to obtain a portfolio that outperforms the benchmark index. Finally, a review of the results obtained will be made.Espinosa Edo, L. (2025). [EN] The proposal of this Bachelor’s Final Project focuses on an intervention in one of the most emblematic works of 20th-century modern architecture: the Gomis House, also known as La Ricarda House, designed by the architect Antoni Bonet i Castellana. The intervention aims to transform this family residence into a House-Studio for the Catalan fashion designer Teresa Helbig. The project seeks to give new life to an architectural icon by reinterpreting its spaces and adapting them to a use that combines fashion and architecture. The Gomis House thus becomes a dynamic space that reflects one of the designer’s most representative collections, “1832 Sur Mer.” In this way, not only is its original function transformed, but it is also endowed with a distinct character that directly connects with Teresa Helbig’s creative identity. Given that the Gomis House is an international reference of Rationalism and a cultural heritage asset, the intervention is always based on the utmost respect for its structure and for the architectural elements that define its essence, ensuring that it does not lose its original character. In addition to the interior, the proposal also includes an intervention in the garden, understood as a key element of the house. The vegetation and natural surroundings not only accompany the architecture but are part of the home’s identity. For this reason, the proposal seeks to create a direct relationship between interior and exterior, turning the garden into an ephemeral runway and an exhibition space where collections can be displayed in an environment intimately linked to the character of the place. The in-depth development of the project focuses on the lighting of four main spaces: the showroom, the meeting room, the main bedroom, and the studio. Each of these requires different lighting needs, making it possible to show how the same space can be transformed and adapted to different uses through light. To this end, only luminaires by the brand Flos have been used, in floor and wall-mounted formats, thereby respecting the architecture and avoiding interventions that would alter the space. Ultimately, this project aims to create a new life for the Gomis House by adapting it to a new use as a House-Studio for Teresa Helbig. The proposal connects architecture and fashion, respects the building’s heritage value, and takes advantage of both the interior spaces and the garden, as well as lighting, to create a creative, functional environment with a strong identity of its own. [EN] This thesis develops sustainable catalytic processes using advanced heterogeneous catalysts based on the preparation of MOF-derived composites for selective semi-hydrogenation of alkynes and electrochemical water-splitting applications. Precisely, new methods were followed to transform PdIn-MOF into N-doped carbon-supported nanoparticles. First, a combined chemical and thermal treatment afforded the PdIn-QT composite, which has been distinguished by its stability and structural control. The material was thoroughly compared to the material resulting from the traditional direct pyrolysis method. Then, the study demonstrates that the properties of nanoparticles and carbon can be improved by optimizing solvent polarity and the type of amines involved during the chemical transformation. Later, after the elaboration of the new PdCo, and PdMn MOF precursors, our newly developed MOF transformation strategy was applied. The resulting PdCo, PdMn, and PdIn-based catalysts were used in the selective hydrogenation of phenylacetylene. They showed excellent selectivity at quantitative conversion levels, with high stability. Among them, PdCo-QT showed excellent activity in continuous gas-phase processes, indicating its potential in industrial applications. Lastly, the first-row transition metal-based materials were tested as electrodes and showed competitive performance against benchmark catalysts in hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER). Specifically, PdCo-QT showed highly efficient and stable performance, with great potential for sustainable water-splitting applications. In conclusion, this study reports on a new family of tunable catalysts suitable for both industrial catalysis and clean energy applications.I want to thank the financial support received from the Spanish Government (RTI2018-096399-A-I00, PID2022-140111OB-I00, PID2020-113006-RB-I00, TED2021-130191B-C41 and TED2021-130191B-C44 funded by MCIN/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033. Understanding Immune Evasion in Neuroblastoma: Tumor Microenvironment Heterogeneity and Therapeutic Implications

    No full text
[EN] High-risk neuroblastoma (HR-NB) remains a clinical challenge due to resistance to current treatments and limited actionable mutations for personalized approaches. Our study focused on the interactions between the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) and HR-NB subtypes to identify novel therapeutic strategies for enhancing immune responses and overcoming treatment resistance. We observed that 11q-deleted tumors exhibited an inflammatory profile characterized by increased levels of CD8+ T cells, resting CD4+ memory T cells, and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), along with heightened immunosuppressive mediators PD-L1, IL10, TGF-ß1, and IDO-1. NB cells consistently polarized macrophages toward an M2 phenotype, promoting tumor proliferation and mesenchymal lineage plasticity. Additionally, we assessed the impact of macrophages on CAR-T cell therapy efficacy, discovering that M2 macrophages impaired PHOX2B CAR-T cell function by downregulating MHC I expression. In contrast, M1 macrophages improved CAR-T efficacy by maintaining or increasing it, enhancing antigen presentation. 11q-deleted HR-NB primary tumors exhibited significant genomic instability, characterized by numerous SCAs. We found a reduced expression of essential DNA damage response genes, including ATM, H2AX, CHEK1, and MRE11A, with no detectable second-hit mutations. Importantly, this reduction was independent of promoter methylation. Furthermore, RASSF1A hypermethylation emerged as a common event in MYCN-amplified and 11q-deleted HR-NB and a negative prognostic marker in these tumors. A specific 52 CpG signature also distinguished 11q-deleted HR-NB from MYCN-amplified subtypes, regulating poor-prognosis genes CSF1R and CCR7, associated with macrophages and lymphocyte recruitment and immune suppression. In conclusion, our findings underscore the pivotal role of TAMs in mediating resistance mechanisms in NB, supporting its targeting as a precision medicine strategy to strengthen antitumor immunity and improve treatment outcomes in high-risk patients.Coronado Mondragón, E. Interrogations + Provocations on Design: Reconsidering the Understanding + Realization of Quality in the Built Environment

[EN] Built environments are remarkably and increasingly complex, crossing over an array of scales and comprising a diversity of types.  City planning, urban design, architecture, landscape and interiors, constituting the range of Environmental Design professions, are challenged, at unforeseen levels, to address an expanding list of expectations, to juggle a heightened number of parameters, to meet rising expectations for sustainability, and to proffer greater health & wellness for our communities.  In other words, designing in our contemporary times is tough sledding that warrants unprecedented sensitivity, sensibility and responsibility.  Despite awareness that a reset is in order, the status quo perpetuates in part due to habits, in part due to politics, and in part due to indifference.  Change is tricky to realize, especially when momentum acts to continue the conventional.  The present paper explores and explains the unconventional principles underpinning a major intersectoral and interdisciplinary 5-year pan-Canadian project that aims to dramatically reconsider design.  Moving beyond superficial tweaking or modest adjustments, this precedent-setting comprehensive research questions societal views on design over four influential groups: namely, government, professionals, academics and citizens.  Fundamental to this approach is bringing all four sectors together to conduct research, to ask hard questions, to analyze designs, and to determine novel ways of seeing, thinking and acting that usher in real change.  The project considers not only existing plans and projects, but also investigates means of procurement that precede design actions.  The research encompasses 14 sites across the country, each examining different dimensions and subjects concerning quality in the built environment.  With a research network including over 120 individual contributors, the project leverages knowledge, funding and tactics to build a significant database available to players engaged in the design, development, construction and occupation of spaces and places across the nation.  Funding levels (8.6millionoveralland8.6 million overall and 2.5 million direct agency cash) permit research pursuits, and researcher interactions, atypical in Environmental Design studies.  Methods deployed in the partnership are diverse and productive, including most notably community roundtables, regular congress, diverse case studies, process & procurement analysis, and pilot or test studies.  At the core of the enterprise is a commitment to move beyond the typical, constricted and limiting ways in which our professions, and society more generally, defines quality in design.  Moving beyond reliance on form, materials and aesthetics, the pan-Canadian project delves into areas of environmental psychology, urban sociology, system science, public health, and so forth, in an effort to render and reform our grasp of design to better serve our citizens and our societies.  Transcending narrow views of ‘good’ designSocial Sciences & Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Partnership Grant Project #895-2022-1003 Quality in Canada’s Built Environment: Roadmaps to Equity, Social Value + SustainabilitySinclair, B. [EN] This study applies Appraisal Theory to analyze evaluative patterns in digital political impoliteness, examining how systematic deployment of Judgment and Graduation resources functions as a form of pragmatic exclusion in hostile replies to Spanish politician Isabel Diaz Ayuso on X (formerly Twitter). Through manual annotation of 498 Spanish-language hostile replies collected between April and May 2025, we coded for five Judgment categories (Capacity, Tenacity, Normality, Veracity, Propriety) and intensification mechanisms (Force, Focus). Results reveal that Social Sanction judgments, such as Propriety- (63.5 %) and Veracity- (20.4 %), sharply outweigh Social Esteem evaluations, indicating a focus on moral delegitimization over competence critique. Intensification was present in 70.1 % of replies, realized through typography, repetition, irony, and emoji. Notably, 29.5 % of replies contained gendered language, disproportionately associated with Propriety- and Normality-judgments (¿2 = 52.85, p < 0.000001), suggesting gendered language disproportionately co-occurs with moral and behavioral judgments. Eleven recurrent impoliteness strategies were identified, often combining multiple negative evaluations with multimodal amplification. This case study introduces the concept of evaluative gatekeeping to describe how hostile replies may use neutral-seeming assessment to challenge political legitimacy in gendered terms. These findings suggest that digital hostility toward female political figures may center on moral judgment rather than policy critique, raising implications for pragmatic exclusion and gendered participation in online political discourse. [EN] This project stems from an urban development initiative aimed at structurally transforming the city of Valencia: the undergrounding of the railway lines at its southern entrance. In 2023, the design studio Omgeving won the ideas competition with the proposal Green Leaf, which seeks to stitch together the neighbourhoods currently divided by the tracks with green spaces. The future Southern Green Corridor will be added to the elements of the municipal Green Infrastructure that connects the Northern Huerta and the Southern Huerta. In the context of removing this physical barrier represented by the railway lines, a new need arises: the creation of community spaces that foster closer ties between residents of these neighbourhoods, who until now have lacked places that encourage interaction. Furthermore, following a study on the area s various artistic activities, the need to revitalise them has been identified, by providing new venues to complement those already in place. A cultural centre is proposed, featuring shared-use classrooms and spaces dedicated to different artistic disciplines for the neighbourhood, as well as exhibition areas and open public spaces serving as meeting points for locals. The project site is in the final 200 metres of the San Vicente Martir street, next to the Cruz Cubierta, a heritage landmark that gives its name to the neighbourhood. The cultural centre will stand where the El Turia S.A. brewery once operated a facility that opened in 1947 and, throughout the 1950s and 1960s, alongside the Macosa warehouses, became one of the economic drivers of the city of Valencia. This industrial and cultural heritage serves as a foundation and will play a key role throughout the entire project.Álvarez De Valcárcel, IM. (2025).
