Tracing the Letters of Benedikt Rogačić: The Dubrovnik Republic’s First Steps Towards the New Officium proprium sancti Blasii (1687–1712)
Rana nastojanja Dubrovačke Republike prema novomu Časoslovu sv. Vlaha mogu se u vrelima pratiti od dvaju pisama isusovca Benedikta Rogačića iz 1687. godine do dvaju poslanstava u Rimu: biskupa Frana Volantija 1710. i poklisara Marina Marinova Caboge 1712. godine. U ožujku 1687. Rogačić je već bio sastavio tri himna, čitanja, molitvu i antifone te pripremio čitanja za časoslov dubrovačkoga parca, ali je tek za audijencije Marina Caboge u listopadu 1712. papa Klement XI. odlučio da će molbu Dubrovačke Republike s Rogačićevim tekstovima časoslova i mise sv. Vlaha proslijediti Sv. zboru za obrede, a za predlagatelja dubrovačkoga podneska odredio kardinala Francesca Barberinija Mlađega.Traces of early attempts of the Dubrovnik Republic towards composing and approving a new Officium proprium sancti Blasii can be found in sources from 1687 till 1712. Six stages in this process are noticed: 1) By March 1687, the Jesuit Benedikt Rogačić, professor of rhetoric at the Roman novitiate of the Society of Jesus, composed three hymns, readings, oration, and antiphons for the Office of St. Blaise, yet was reluctant to compose the Mass of St. Blaise as he did not consider himself capable of carrying out the task. 2) In March 1687 Rogačić sent a new version of his three hymns in honour of St. Blaise to his Jesuit fellow brother Rafo Tudišević, Vice–Rector of the Collegium Ragusinum, which he revised in keeping with Tudišević’s critical remarks. In addition, on the same occasion Rogačić also revised the oration and antiphons. 3) Petitioned by the Dubrovnik authorities in December 1689, Giovanni Vincenzo Lucchesini, the new Archbishop of Dubrovnik, succeeded in obtaining a decree from the Sacred Congregation of Rites on February 11, 1690, according to which three readings on the life and martyrdom of St. Blaise composed by Honoré Fabri, approved for the Vatican Basilica of St. Peter in 1672, may henceforth be read regularly on the territory of the Republic and Archdiocese of Dubrovnik. 4) In February 1701, Dubrovnik authorities ordered Paolo Francesco Pierizzi, their permanent agent at the Holy See, to persuade Tommaso Antonio Scotti, the newly–ordained Archbishop of Dubrovnik, to submit the request either directly to the Pope or to the Sacred Congregation of Rites. 5) In February 1710, Dubrovnik authorities ordered Frano Volanti, the elected bishop of Ston, to arrange a meeting with Fr. Rogačić in Rome in order to obtain from him the integral texts of the Office and the Mass of St. Blaise for the purpose of attaining approval by the Sacred Congregation of Rites, after which he was to have 100 copies of their editions printed by one of the printers in Rome. 6) In October 1712, Marin Marinov Caboga, special envoy of the Republic of Dubrovnik to the Holy See, had a meeting with Fr. Rogačić and managed to obtain from him the texts of the Office and the Mass of St. Blaise, while Dubrovnik authorities doubled the number of copies to be printed. At the prompting of Cardinal Francesco Barberini Jr., Caboga received an audience with Pope Clement XI, whom he presented with Memoriale, accompanied by the texts of the Mass and Office of St. Blaise. The pope stated that, upon reading Rogačić’s texts, he would forward the Ragusan request to the Sacred Congregation of Rites for their approval, and for the Ponente of the Ragusan Memoriale he appointed Cardinal Barberini
UČINKOVITOST NAČINA IZRADE WEB STRANICA U SREDNJOJ ŠKOLI
U istraživačkom radu na temu: „Učinkovitost načina izrade web stranica u srednjoj školi” prikazuju se rezultati anketiranja učenika srednje škole. Dobiveni su odgovori na pitanja temeljem ankete pod nazivom: „Programiranje za web i medijsko prezentiranje”: (1) koji smjer pohađaju anketirani učenici srednje škole, (2) koji je način učenicima najučinkovitiji za učenje web programiranja tj. kodiranja, (3) koji pogled na editor je učenicima najpraktičniji tj. u kojem pogledu je učenicima najlakše raditi web stranice i/ili aplikacije, (4) koji je prema mišljenju učenika svrsishodniji način izrade web stranica, (5) koji je prema mišljenju ispitanika način korištenja CSSa najpraktičniji i najlogičniji. U radu su također temeljem analize sadržaja spomenuti: opisni jezici koji se koriste u srednjim školama u smjeru web dizajner za izradu web stranice, te osnovni pojmovi poput web aplikacije, učenja i mogućih pogleda na izgled web stranice. Rezultati istraživanja su dobiveni temeljem uzorka od 29 učenika srednje škole smjerova web dizajner i medijski tehničar
The Ibero-American Network of Tourism Research: A Methodology of Analysis of Collaboration Through Co-authorships
Research collaboration in tourism is critical to generating innovative knowledge and economic development. The present study aims to analyze the collaboration patterns through co-authorships in the scientific publications of Ibero-American authors in a crucial decade, representing the first generation of authors with international diffusion in Ibero-American tourism research. A Social Network Analysis was applied, distinguishing between publications in Ibero-American and English-speaking international tourism journals. The results identify different types of most outstanding authors, universities and countries and their mplications. Finally, the study explains how this collaboration takes place and fosters future research collaboration in tourism in this region
From Posts to Passports: The Role of Social Media Influencers in Shaping International Travel Decisions
This research paper analyses the influence of Social Media Influencers (SMIs) on international travel decision-making. The study attempts to understand the extent of impact SMIs have on different stages of the international travel decision-making process and to identify factors of the characteristics of SMIs that influence travellers' decision-making. The findings suggest that SMIs have distinct impacts on people's behaviours and decisions in each international travel decision-making stage. Post-travel behaviour is the stage in which SMIs influence people the most. Six characteristics of the SMIs were identified: Credibility and trustworthiness, popularity and acceptance, personality and appearance, expertise and experience, frequency of posts, and interaction with followers. Logistic regression analysis revealed that all the identified characteristics do not have the same influence on the international travel decision-making process. The direction and magnitude of the impact of these factors are uncovered through this research
Authenticity of architecture, place attachment, identity and support for sustainable tourism in world heritage cities
Purpose - This study analyses the relationships between perceived architectural authenticity,
localised identity, place attachment and support for sustainable tourism at a World Heritage Site.
Methodology/Design/Approach - A quantitative methodology is developed through
questionnaires applied to residents in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, in the Dominican
Republic. 509 valid responses were obtained and the analysis used structural equation models
(PLS-SEM).
Findings - The results show that perceived architectural authenticity significantly influences the
residents’ place attachment and localised identity. These, in turn, impact their support for the
creation of sustainable tourism initiatives at heritage sites. Specifically, architectural authenticity
enhances the residents’ connection to their community and cultural identity, fostering a
supportive attitude toward the sustainable tourism practices that preserve cultural heritage.
Originality of the research - The findings suggest that architectural authenticity is relevant
when it comes to strengthening the community ties and cultural identity among the residents
of World Heritage Sites. A model is presented where architectural authenticity is analyzed and
variables are integrated that analyze how it influences support for sustainable tourism. This
model, unlike similar models, offers updated data after the pandemic
From redundancy to delight: Towards optimized organizational outcomes
Purpose – This study expresses new insights into various stimuli that shape customers perceptions
towards services provided. Further, it expands our understanding of customer delight mediating
role between service redundancy and organizational outcomes within the hospitality context.
Methodology/Design/Approach – The data were obtained from 632 residents in five-star
branded hotels in Egypt. Further, applying stratified sampling method for hotels selection
while using and simple random sampling methods for respondents’ selection.
Findings – The results indicated that, service redundancy was negatively related to
organizational outcomes, while emotional customers delight mediating the relationship
between service redundancy and organizational outcomes.
Originality of the research – This study seeks a pioneering contribution of a model that is
based on expectation–disconfirmation theory in relation to the hospitality literature. Further,
by focusing on such theory the researchers pursue new insights into various stimuli that shape
customers perceptions towards services provided
Analysis of the success rate of rehabilitation of windthrows in state forests in the Medvednica Nature Park
Medvednica svojim položajem u neposrednoj blizini glavnog grada dobiva izuzetno veliku pozornost građana. Uz ekološke i ekološko-socijalne funkcije šuma, do izražaja značajno dolaze i socijalne općekorisne funkcije: turističke, rekreacijske, zdravstvene i estetske. Unutar Parka prirode Medvednica velika pozornost javnosti usmjerena je na gospodarenje šumama, a brojni upiti vezani suza biološku obnovu šuma koja uključuje i uklanjanje stabala. Jedini održivi način gospodarenja koji provodimo omogućava održavanje optimalnog stanja šumskih ekosustava kako bi se pratili zahtjevi prirode koja svakodnevno od nas traži razumijevanje prirodnih procesa i promjena. Šume na području Parka prirode Medvednica u proteklih su 12 godina pretrpjele nekoliko velikih i više manjih olujnih nevremena, koja su ostavila značajan trag na krajobrazu tog područja, narušila strukturu i stabilnost sastojina, te promijenila planove gospodarenja šumama tog područja.
Hrvatske šume d. o. o. koje gospodare državnim šumama Medvednice uložile su izuzetne napore u svim fazama sanacije vjetroizvala i za nastavak daljnjeg potrajnog gospodarenja. Sanacije vjetroizvala možemo podijeliti u tri faze: 1. hitne intervencije na javnoj infrastrukturi, 2. izmjera i izvoz drvne mase uz uspostavu šumskog reda, 3. biološka obnova šuma.
Svrha je rada dobiti prikaz provedenih radova na sanaciji kako bi poslužili kao primjer dobre prakse u okolnostima klimatskih ekstrema. Cilj je ovog rada prikazati količine drvne mase sanirane u proteklih 12 godina i ukazati na važnost kontinuiranog gospodarenja za stabilnost šuma na Medvednici kako bismo upravo time pokušali smanjiti utjecaj klimatskih promjena. Također ćemo prikazati kako je sanacija vjetroizvala utjecala na planirano gospodarenje propisano šumsko-gospodarskim planom te kako nekontrolirano izvaljivanje drvne mase zbog vjetra utječe na izgled Medvednice, a time zahtjeva opasne i skupe zahvate sanacije. Posljedično, ulažu se veliki trud i sredstva u informiranje javnosti o svim šumskim radovima na području Medvednice te se nastoji približiti načela šumarske struke i ukazati na svrhu organiziranog gospodarenja šumama radi uspostave povjerenja između javnosti i šumarske struke.Due to its location, in the immediate vicinity of the capital, Medvednica receives a great deal of attention from citizens. In addition to the ecological and socio-ecological functions, the social functions of forests also come to the fore: touristic, recreational, health and aesthetic. Within the Medvednica Nature Park, much of the public’s attention is focused on forest management, and numerous inquiries are related to the biological restoration of forests, which includes the removal of trees. Only the sustainable way of management that we carry out makes it possible to maintain the optimal state of forest ecosystems to follow the demands of nature, which daily requires of us to understand natural processes and changes. In the last 12 years, the forests in the Medvednica Nature Park have suffered several major storms and several smaller ones, which left a significant mark on the landscape of this area, damaged the structure and stability of the stands, and changed the forest management plans of this area.
Hrvatske šume d.o.o. (Croatian Forests Ltd), which manages the state forests of Medvednica, has made extraordinary efforts in all phases of the restoration of the windthrows and to ensure the continuation of further sustainable management. Remediation of windthrows can be divided into three phases: 1. urgent interventions on public infrastructure, 2. measurement and export of timber with the establishment of forest order, 3. biological restoration of forests.
The purpose of the paper is to obtain a description of the rehabilitation works carried out to serve as an example of good practice in the circumstances of climatic extremes. The aim of this paper is to show the amount of wood mass rehabilitated in the last 12 years and to point out the importance of continuous management for the stability of the forests on Medvednica to try to reduce the impact of climate change. We will also show how the restoration of windthrows affected the planned management prescribed by the Forestry Economic Plan, and how the uncontrolled dispersion of wood mass due to the wind affects the very appearance of Medvednica, thus requiring dangerous and expensive rehabilitation procedures. As a result, great effort and resources are invested in informing the public about all forest works around Medvednica, and efforts are made to approach the principles of the forestry profession and point out the purpose of organized forest management to establish trust between the public and the forestry profession
High Risk Artificial Intelligence Systems and Legal Doctrine of Essential Facilities: in Search for a Dynamic Model
The Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on laying down harmonised rules on Artificial Intelligence and amending certain Union Legislative Acts (Artificial Intelligence Act) targets high risk artificial intelligence systems as one of its primary areas of regulatory scope. High risk artificial intelligence systems are considered as software that is developed to use machine learning approaches like supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, deep learning; logic and knowledge-based approaches like knowledge representation, inductive (logic) programming, knowledge bases, inference and deductive engines, symbolic reasoning and expert systems and statistical approaches like Bayesian estimation, search and optimization methods. The essential facilities doctrine in Competition Law / Antitrust Law state that owner(s) of an essential facility for effective competition must provide access to that facility to other competitors in relevant market at a reasonable price. This paper correlates high risk artificial intelligence systems in the scope of Artificial Intelligence Act as potential essential facilities under certain conditions. The paper follows with normative analysis of regulatory requirements of the Artificial Intelligence Act for high risk artificial intelligence systems in light of the essential facilities doctrine. In the final part paper detects primary normative content for future development and outlines dynamic regulatory model for high risk artificial intelligence systems
Uzročnici mastitisa koza i ovaca u Republici Hrvatskoj i njihova osjetljivost prema antimikrobnim tvarima
This paper outlines the results of researching the incidence of mastitis in small ruminants in the Republic of Croatia over a six-year period (2017 to 2022). During this period, microbiological testing was performed on 801 samples of udder secretions from small ruminants in 13 counties and the city of Zagreb, with 178 samples (22.2%) testing positive for mastitis pathogens. Of the total 609 udder secretion samples from goats, mastitis agents were isolated from 150 samples (24.6%), while the 192 udder secretion samples from sheep revealed 28 (14.6%) contained mastitis agents. The highest prevalence of mastitis pathogens in goat udder secretions was found in 2018 (31.8%), and in sheep in 2020 (32.9%). Microbiological testing identified 16 species and genera of bacteria. The most common species were Staphylococcus aureus, isolated from 96 (53.9%) samples, Staphylococcus
spp. (46 samples; 25.8%), Streptococcus spp. (7; 3.9%), Klebsiella spp. and Corynebacterium spp. (each 5; 2.8%), Escherichia coli (4; 2.2%), Streptococcus uberis and Proteus spp. (each 3; 1.7%), and Pseudomonas spp. (2; 1.1%). Other species and genera, such as Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Pasteurella spp., Mannheimia haemolytica, Enterococcus spp., Enterobacter and Serratia spp. were isolated sporadically, each from one sample. The isolated bacterial cultures were tested for sensitivity to antimicrobials using the disc-diffusion method to amoxicillin with clavulanic acid, ampicillin, cefaperazone, enrofloxacin, kanamycin, cloxacillin, lincomycin, neomycin, novobiocin, penicillin, streptomycin, sulfamethoxazole with
trimethoprim, and tetracycline. Sensitivity of the isolated agents to the antimicrobials was most pronounced towards cefoperazone and enrofloxacin, regardless of the species or genera of the isolated mastitis agent. The odds of isolating a mastitis agent from goat udder secretions was 1.61 times higher than for sheep (PU radu su opisani rezultati istraživanja učestalosti mastitisa u malih preživača u Republici Hrvatskoj u razdoblju od šest godina (2017. do 2022.). Tijekom istraživanog razdoblja na području trinaest županija i Grada Zagreba mikrobiološkim pretragama pretražen je 801 uzorak sekreta vimena malih preživača, a uzročnici mastitisa
izdvojeni su iz 178 uzoraka (22,2 %). Od pretraženih 609 uzoraka sekreta vimena koza, uzročnici mastitisa izdvojeni su iz 150 uzoraka (24,6 %) sekreta, dok je od 192 pretražena sekreta vimena ovaca iz 28 (14,6 %) izdvojen neki od uzročnika mastitisa. Najviša prevalencija uzročnika mastitisa u sekretu vimena koza utvrđena je 2018. godine (31,8 %), a u sekretu vimena ovaca 2020. godine (32,9 %). Mikrobiološkom pretragom izdvojeno je 16 različitih vrsta i rodova bakterija. Najčešće je vrsta Staphylococcus aureus, izdvojena iz 96 (53,9 %) uzoraka, Staphylococcus spp. iz 46 (25,8 %), Streptococcus spp. iz 7 (3,9 %), Klebsiella spp. i Corynebacterium spp. iz 5 (2,8 %), Escherichia coli iz 4 (2,2 %), Streptococcus uberis i Proteus spp. iz 3 (1,7 %) te Pseudomonas spp. iz 2 (1,1%) uzorka. Ostale vrste i rodovi poput Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Pasteurella spp., Mannheimia haemolytica, Enterococcus spp., Enterobacter i Serratia spp. izdvojene su sporadično iz po jednog uzorka. Izdvojene bakterijske kulture podvrgnute su testu osjetljivosti na antimikrobne tvari disk-difuzijskom metodom prema amoksicilinu s klavulanskom kiselinom, ampicilinu, cefaperazonu, enrofloksacinu, kanamicinu,
kloksacilinu, linkomicinu, neomicinu, novobiocinu, penicilinu, streptomicinu, sulfametoksazolu s trimetoprimom
i tetraciklinu. Osjetljivost izdvojenih uzročnika prema antimikrobnim tvarima najizraženija je prema cefoperazonu i enrofloksacinu, neovisno o vrsti ili rodu izdvojenog uzročnika mastitisa. Izgledi za izdvajanje uzročnika mastitisa iz sekreta vimena koza 1,61 puta su veći od izgleda u ovaca (
