Kirurško liječenje obostrane paralize glasnica: trinaestogodišnje iskustvo
This retrospective study reviewed our 13-year experience in surgical treatment of 19
adults with bilateral vocal fold paralysis (BVFP). Symptoms, etiology and surgical methods were analyzed
and compared with current medical literature. The primary complaint in all patients was dyspnea.
Dysphonia was present in 58% and dysphagia in 32% of patients. The most common cause of BVFP was
thyroidectomy, followed by unknown etiology, stroke and lung cancer, and isolated cases of polytrauma,
neck abscess, and bilateral carotid artery operation. Tracheotomy as primary surgical intervention was
performed in 58% and transoral endolaryngeal procedure in 42% of patients. Among tracheotomized
patients, 64% of them underwent transoral endolaryngeal surgical procedure and 55% were decannulated.
The most frequent endolaryngeal surgical procedure was subtotal arytenoidectomy (47%), followed
by cordectomy and posterior cordotomy. Twenty-six percent of patients were surgically treated more
than once. Objective respiratory, phonatory and swallowing evaluation was not performed routinely. The
overall clinical features and surgical treatment of BVFP were in accordance with medical literature. Due
to a relatively small number of cases in general population and the lack of comparative studies based on
algorithmic approach, there is no clear evidence that one surgical technique is functionally superior to
the other.Ovim retrospektivnim istraživanjem prikazali smo naše trinaestogodišnje iskustvo kirurškog liječenja obostrane paralize
glasnica u odraslih.
i kirurške metode s aktualnom medicinskom literaturom. Vodeći simptom svih bolesnika bila je dispneja. Disfonija je bila
prisutna u 58%, a disfagija u 32% bolesnika.
(47%), a zatim slijede kordektomija i stražnja kordotomija. Dvadeset i šest posto bolesnika liječeno je kirurški više puta.
Objektivna procjena respiracije, fonacije i gutanja nije rađena rutinski. Sveukupne kliničke značajke i kirurško liječenje
obostrane paralize glasnica bolesnika u našem istraživanju bilo je u skladu s medicinskom literaturom. Zbog malog broja
„ESCAPE ROOM“ UPPER TOWN
The article presents a form of teaching outside the classroom, performed in Zagreb’s Upper Town. This project is designed for two school lesson (90 minutes) but it is also applicable for one school lesson, with some adjustments. Students are supposed to carry out the assignment as a group, and the teacher is there only to give clarity. The task guides students through the political history of Croatia as well as local history of Zagreb. The idea was first implemented at the History fair – a history popularization program held in November 2025 at the Upper Town school in Zagreb. The aim of this type of a lesson is to teach students about the center of the city in which they live – and through it, about the Croatian and local history
AI in Istria from an Industrial Perspective
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a transformative technology with immense potential to
drive innovation and sustainability across diverse industries in Istria, Croatia. This
study examines the industrial applications of AI in key industrial sectors such as
tourism, agriculture, logistics, renewable energy, creative industries, and
manufacturing. The research employs a systematic literature review and
qualitative content analysis of expert interviews, involving stakeholders from

European initiatives, developing innovation hubs, and leveraging Istria’s strategic
position as a pilot region for AI-driven projects. The findings emphasize the
importance of integrating AI into regional strategies to bolster economic growth,
sustainability, and global competitiveness, positioning Istria as a leader in AI-driven
regional development
Hrvatske crkvenoslavenske rečenične dopune i implikacijska hijerarhija dopunjavanja
In this paper, complement clauses in Croatian Church Slavonic (CCS) are examined in light of the implicational complementation hierarchy (ICH) proposed by Susanne Wurmbrand and Magdalena Lohninger (2023). Wurmbrand and Lohninger classify complement clauses into three semantically defined types (Propositions, Situations, and Events). These types are ordered hierarchically according to their degree of syntactic complexity and can be distinguished by the distribution of morphosyntactic properties. The proposed hierarchy is implicational, which means that the distribution of morphosyntactic properties of adjacent complement types in the hierarchy is predictable to a certain degree. To test the ICH in CCS complementation configurations, we analyze the distribution of morphosyntactic properties such as the presence and distribution of complementizers, the finiteness of complements, the availability of overt subjects, the possibility of ECM constructions, and the clitic climbing. The analysis shows that CCS complementation patterns support the division of clausal complements into three types and that the distribution of morphosyntactic properties of these types aligns with the ICH.U radu se rečenične dopune u hrvatskome crkvenoslavenskom jeziku razmatraju u svjetlu implikacijske hijerarhije dopunjavanja Susanne Wurmbrand i Magdalene Lohninger (2023).

An overview of the Commission’s work reveals its significant contribution to the library profession, particularly in introducing new approaches and improving the evaluation of library services, enhancing the organization of library processes, and increasing transparency within libraries. As such, the Commission has become a key factor in promoting professional standards and ensuring the quality of library services in the Republic of Croatia
Intergenerational Teamwork from the Employees’ Perspective
This interdisciplinary, exploratory study investigates age-diverse teams across different work contexts, examining how age heterogeneity is perceived and managed. While supervisors are more inclined to note age- and generation-specific behaviors, employees tend to pinpoint differences in work attitudes, professional experience, and openness to collaboration-factors deemed fundamental for successful teamwork. To capture these perspectives, we conducted 18 semi-structured interviews (six per organization) in three companies in Valais (tourism, a large-scale bakery with restaurant services, and a social-medical centre) and analyzed them using an object-oriented qualitative content analysis. The findings indicated that the form of collaboration (e.g., high interdependence vs. autonomy) and institutionally embedded exchange mechanisms are crucial to unleashing generative potential. Results indicated that informal hierarchies and shared values often outweigh the visible characteristic of age. An open culture of diversity, coupled with psychological safety, fosters knowledge and experience sharing and supports the development of transactive knowledge. This illustrates how organizational and context-specific factors shape intergenerational teamwork, revealing that age differences alone are merely one piece of the puzzle. Practical implications mainly concern establishing clear structures for learning and exchange, integrating experienced employees as mentors, and consciously fostering positive intergenerational relationships
The Role of the Property Management System in the Hotel Business: A Challenge for the Hotel Industry in Montenegro
Successful business in the hotel industry, especially in large hotels and hotels that are part of international hotel chains, today relies on several essential components, such as digitization of business, the application of modern information technologies, the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI), and the use of Property Management System (PMS) with Cloud technology. This research aims to address current trends in PMS development in the hotel industry, with a focus on the challenges faced by the Montenegrin hotel sector. The primary objective is to determine the clear role and importance of PMS in Montenegro's hotel industry as a key tool for successful hotel management. For this research, both primary and secondary data will be used. Primary data will be gathered through a structured online survey, employing purposive sampling to capture hoteliers’ attitudes. Additionally, an extensive database of secondary data will be considered and examined. The data will be statistically analysed using IBM SPSS 25.0, and simple linear regression will be used for hypothesis testing. The results of this research will highlight that the application of PMS is crucial for the development of the Montenegrin hotel industry, allowing it to keep pace with leading market competitors
Ranking Persuasive System Design Strategies for mHealth Apps Using Fuzzy AHP
The development of mobile health (mHealth) applications has revolutionized health and fitness management by providing users with innovative digital tools to monitor and improve their well-being. These apps integrate features such as step counting, health tracking, and activity monitoring, making them valuable for personalized health interventions. However, ensuring effective user engagement remains a critical challenge. Persuasive System Design (PSD) strategies are essential for influencing user behaviour, improving adherence to health interventions, and enhancing app usability. Despite extensive research on PSD strategies, a structured framework that prioritizes the most effective strategies for mHealth apps is lacking. This study aims to address this gap by utilizing the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) to identify and rank the most influential PSD strategies for health and fitness mobile applications. By gathering expert opinions from product managers, this research will develop a structured Top 10 PSD Strategies Model that offers product designers a prioritized framework for implementing persuasive techniques. The findings will help improve user retention, engagement, and overall app success
