Third Wolrld Solidarity and 'My World' Insolidarity : Working with the Wide Spectrum of Students'Attitudes towards Others
Student's attitudes and perceptions about other cultures and what is usually perceived as "other" was one of the main axes of the ESF project. Urban Regeneration and Citizen's City Making, Lessons Learned from a South-European Perspective
Urban regeneration policies have been changing in terms of discourse, objectives, management processes and results from their consolidation in the mid-1990s to the present day. This intervention strategy has dominated urban regeneration experiences in Europe up to the present, with mixed results. Urban regeneration as a concept is presented as a holistic term for the economic, social and environmental transformation of degraded urban areas in the UK, the origin of these policies. However, many of the debates are also present in Southern European countries. In this chapter we will present some reflections on the lessons learned from urban regeneration processes in the context of Southern European countries, with a special focus on the case of Barcelona
Kant, Voegelin, and Race. A Commentary on Eric Voegelin's Reception of Kant's Race Idea
The main aim of this paper is to problematize E. Voegelin's reading of Kant's theory of race. While it is true that Kant introduces a strict differentiation between the sensible and the intelligible dimensions of the finite rational being, in his reflections on race he also establishes a dependence between physical and moral traits that, contrary to Voegelin's opinion, makes him a crucial step in the process of 'internalization of the person'. We will also show that Kant's racial hierarchy has significant consequences for both his Political philosophy and Philosophy of history, again in opposition to Voegelin's assumptio
