    Justice Diversity Inclusion Equality

    No full text

    No full text
peer reviewedAt the beginning of the First Millennium bce, the Third Intermediate Period saw major changes in burial practices in the Theban area. From the end of the New Kingdom onwards, decorated tombs were abandoned and burial furniture restricted to a few items displaying an innovative iconographic and textual program. Dating from the early 21st Dynasty, the burial sets of Serimen and Sutymes experimented a new iconographic and textual repertoire, taking its inspiration from the world of the temple, of which they offer a microcosm within the tomb. Contrasting both with previous traditions and with the furniture of their successors, the originality of these ensembles highlights their prestige and virtuosity in conceiving new references

    Le conte de la méritocratie

editorial reviewedFollowing the European, federal, regional (June 2024) and municipal (October 2024) elections, Belgium has experienced a historic turning point, with conservative-identity political parties now occupying all levels of power. Among these parties, the Mouvement réformateur (MR, formerly the Liberal Party) and Les Engagés (formerly the Catholic Party) now form a majority bloc in French-speaking Belgium, enabling them to form a government at the federated entity level and join the federal coalition. During the long electoral campaign (March 2024-October 2024), one of these parties notably promoted a narrative centered on the tale of merit. The main idea supported by this party, which breaks with left-wing parties, is to give all citizens the impression that they can get ahead by making the necessary efforts. This narrative concerns all aspects of socio-political life: budgetary efforts, reemployment of the unemployed, education, among others. This paper proposes firstly to analyse the meritocratic narratives developed by these two parties during the electoral campaign (March 2024-October 2024), based on their political programs and the official communications of the two party leaders (Georges-Louis Bouchez and Maxime Prévot) in the French-speaking Belgian press and social media (Twitter and Facebook). Secondly, the paper proposes to analyse government agreements to identify the translations of these narratives into the public policies pursued by these parties, with particular attention paid to education policy, which focuses on the meritocratic narrative by developing the fairy tale of meritocratic schools.10. Gastric Candidiasis in Five Horses: A Case Series.

    No full text
peer reviewedCandida spp. are ubiquitous yeasts that are part of most mammals' microbiota and can become opportunistic pathogens under predisposing conditions. Interestingly, recent studies in human medicine report an increased abundance of Candida spp. in association with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Gastrointestinal candidiasis has been primarily reported in neonatal foals, but not in adult horses. The aim of this study is to describe the morphological, histopathological, and microbiological features of gastric lesions associated with Candida infiltration in five horses referred to two tertiary hospitals for different reasons. Clinical features, findings from gastroscopy, gastric, and duodenal biopsies, as well as fungal and bacterial cultures obtained from gastric lesions will be reported. Macroscopically, gastric lesions showed a characteristic yellow/white pseudo-membranous appearance, similar to lesions reported in foals. The presence of Candida spp. was confirmed by positive culture and/or histopathological evidence of fungal infiltration on the gastric epithelium. Three out of five horses showed histopathological changes in duodenal biopsies, potentially suggesting IBD. These results demonstrate that gastric candidiasis can occur in adult horses. Further research is needed to elucidate the pathogenesis, predisposing factors, and clinical relevance of Candida spp. infections in the equine stomach, as well as their potential impact on gastrointestinal health and overall performance

The gatehouse of the Castel of Fallais: a first archaeological diagnosis through the analysis of the building stones
