A Methodology for Model-Driven Software Configuration Management Implementation and Support

    No full text
The paper presents the methodology how to implement model-driven software configuration process in projects of developing applied computer systems and software. A methodology consists few dependent blocks that together allows decrease manual works of implementation and support configuration management process. The most important blocks of the methodology are problems and actions monitoring systems in project and database of knowledge. Monitoring systems can fix all problems in project. Knowledge database consist many rules. Using forward chaining procedure become possible to generate new rules in knowledge database that helps determine is some problems depends on configuration management area and find solution of this problem. New rules generation process help to make corrections in configuration management model. Configuration management model presents all actions and relations needed for implementation of configuration process. Monitoring systems and knowledge database can change current model according to changes in project. The paper describes also risks and limitations of using this methodology and necessary researches to make this methodology useable in project

The Influence of the Restrictions of the Electromagnetic Field on the Capital Costs of Power Line

    No full text
The paper presents the minimization concept of the capital costs of the power line design by optimizing the main parameters of a transmission line as well as possibility of use of new advanced technologies such as High Temperature Low Sag conductors and monitoring systems. The evaluation process of a concept is presented in three stages and takes into account the impact of the important factors such as thermal, mechanical and environmental limitations. The main interest in this paper is focused on the detection of a problem of an electrical field, which may not satisfy to the required level, thus being as a problem in the transmission network “bottlenecks”. Moreover the proposed practical method hands an efficient solution of the presenting problem allowing the customer to choose the best alternative of a power line design. The obtained results are analyzed and discussed in a paper

Stochastic Aproach to Economical Analysis of Biomass Power Plants

    No full text
The global community is motivated to move towards renewable energy supply and market based operation in power systems. In the core of this change is an aspiration of the reduced the influence of power generation on the environment and the increased power supply efficiency, which is achieved through market conditions and free competition. These new conditions define significant changes in the design and planning of the operation of the biomass power plant (BPP). First step in the power plant development project is pre-feasibility study. As a result of study, a developer would choose a place of construction, fuel type, the power grid connection scheme, would estimate the necessary capital expenses, the produced energy, production costs and profits from the energy sales. Economic analysis is an important part of the pre-feasibility study of the power plant (PP). Usually, PP design is evaluated in terms of the profit maximization and the following economic criteria, e.g. NPV, IRR, payback time. The introduction of the markets in power systems substantially changes the approach to economic analysis of the PP profitability. Consequently, the power producer’s energy prices and revenues are subject to significant fluctuations. The criteria for profit maximization for the stakeholders shall be reformulated. The uncertain and random parameters, as the ambient temperature, thermal energy consumption, price of energy has to be taken into account. The problem becomes much more complicated and requires new algorithms and software tools to solve it. This paper proposes a procedure to estimate the average value of these criteria taking into account random nature of the variables and using the historic values of parameters. Besides, we use neural network based algorithm to predict processes in future from the historical data. A case study is conducted on a realistic project of the cogeneration BPP (2 MW) and demonstrates the advantages of the stochastic approach. It is concluded that the proposed approach to profitability analysis, developed algorithms, the data capture from Internet, enhanced user friendly interface shall support and enable improved decision making

Requirements Engineering for Capability Driven Development

    No full text
Lately, the notion of capability has emerged in IS engineering as an instrument to context dependent design and delivery of business services. Representing core business functionalities of an organization, capabilities, and capability driven IS development can be seen as both – a shift beyond and complement to the widely established service-oriented engineering paradigm where needs of customers form the leading modeling and design perspective. To ensure the needs of business stakeholders for variety of business contexts that an organization faces, and thus facilitate successful systems delivery, capability- driven development needs a well-defined method for requirements engineering, as well as its confirmation in practices. In this paper a process for specifying requirements capabilities and their designs is proposed. An application of the proposed approach to the area of business process outsourcing (BPO) services is carried out for the German company SIV

Weak Electron Emission Current for Characterization of Nanomaterials, Gas and Radiation Sensing towards Medical Applications

    No full text
Rapid development of nanomaterials opens a wide horizon for their applications, medicine being one of them. Nanomaterials and nanodevices are in use both in the human body and as medical nanosensors. Reliable employment of materials requires trustworthy detection of their properties. Characterization of both the nanomaterials and nanosensors should be supplied at the nanoscaled dimension. To avoid disturbing gentle nanoobjects, measurements of them with contactless techniques are preferable. Low energy electron has a mean free path in a solid that is of the order of nanoscale. Therefore, a prethreshold (energy of the emitting electron is close to the electron work function) electron emission contactless spectroscopy could become an efficient instrument both for characterization of nanostructured materials and nanosensing. Weak emission (~ 10^(–16)…10^(–15) Q/cm2) of electrons from a solid does not give a significant feedback to measurements in the sense of the negligible inducted electrical charge at the material surface (the density of the surface electrons in the solid is around 10^14 cm–2). The paper reviews photo-, dual-, and exo-electron emission fundamentals and their applications for the characterization of nanoobjects (concentration of pointlike imperfections, their annealing, migration, surface charge of nanoparticles, energy gap, electron density of states, thickness of thin films and interfaces between them and the substrate) as well as gas and ionizing radiation. The ways for medical applications are indicated
