Using Gis for Freight Supply Chain Modelling
The use of information technology in various fields of human endeavor, the exponential growth of information and the need to respond quickly to any situation required to find adequate solutions to the problems. The effectiveness way of these is the IT intellectualization. In this paper, we discuss the possibility of strengthening the role of Geographic Information Systems in supporting the development of integrated control systems for maritime freight logistics on the basis of a centralized repository. The paper presents the developed mathematical problem and determines the algorithm method to solve the problem
Latency Causes and Reduction in Optical Metro Networks
The dramatic growth of transmitted information in fiber optical networks is leading to a concern about the network latency for high-speed reliable services like financial transactions, telemedicine, virtual and augmented reality, surveillance, and other applications. In order to ensure effective latency engineering, the delay variability needs to be accurately monitored and measured, in order to control it. This paper in brief describes causes of latency in fiber optical metro networks. Several available latency reduction techniques and solutions are also discussed, namely concerning usage of different chromatic dispersion compensation methods, low-latency amplifiers, optical fibers as well as other network elements
Chances for the Development of Multiapartment Dwelling Houses’ Policy in Latvia
Over the past 20 years, there have been a number of considerable aspects in the housing policy of
Latvia that affect the development of housing policy in general. In 1995, the Law "On Privatisation of State and Local Government Residential Houses" was adopted. According to the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia data, exactly 20 753 multi-storey apartment houses owned by the state or local government or 53% of the total number of multi-storey residential houses in Latvia were placed under the privatisation process. It should be highlighted that only 20% of the apartment house owners have taken over the house in their possession, while 95% of the apartments are privatised
The Conceptual Framework for Integration of Multiagent Based Intelligent Tutoring and Personal Knowledge Management Systems in Educational Settings
Requirements of the information age causes new challenges for universities – necessity to change teaching and learning process to ensure that students be able to interpret non-standardized information for problem solving and decision making and have skills of effective turning their knowledge into action which is a requisite that graduates from universities will be innovative and will become so called knowledge workers. The purpose of the paper is to attract educators’ attention to the potential of getting synergy effect from integration of intelligent tutoring and knowledge assessment systems with personal knowledge management systems. The conceptual framework is based on multiagent paradigm and the novel approach how to support student-centered individualized study process using traditional modules of intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs): tutoring, student diagnosis and domain knowledge modules is described. The conception of graph based pedagogical model is given as well as implementation aspects of two systems (a part of the framework) – the intelligent tutoring system MIPITS and the intelligent knowledge assessment system IKAS are overviewed
Improving an Inverse Technique for Characterisation of Laminated Plates
Inverse techniques based on vibration tests and numerical calculations are sensitive to model errors, which bring discrepancies in the results of the estimated parameters. In the present study model errors related to geometrical simplifications of laminated plates were investigated experimentally. The investigation focused on the effect that the model errors had on identified material properties. The inverse technique based on the design of experiments and response surface methodology was used in the identification procedure. Eigenfrequencies of the plate mostly affected by the model errors were eliminated from the objective function reducing the estimation error of the identified material properties
Properties of New Thermoshinkable Materials of Radiation Modified Polypropylene- Elastomer Composites with Cross- Linking Agents
Chapter 14. Electron Emission Standed Nanodosimetry and Gas Detection
Photoelectron (PE) and thermostimulated exoelectron (TE) emission spectroscopies were explored for gas sensing and electron radiation nanodosimetry. Silicon substrates were in use as the working matter for benzene and isopentane sensing. PbS nanocrystals embedded in ZrO2 thin-films were employed to absorb electron radiation. Both PE and TE influenced by gas absorption and radiation deliver promising approaches for gas sensing and nanodosimetry
Challenge of ASR in the Use of Waste Glass Slurry
The ASR tests results indicate that the presence of finely ground waste glass ln a wet environment has smaller influence on ASR expansion
