    Rule Weight Use in Bioinformatics Data Classification

    This article studies the possible application of fuzzy classification methods that use rule weights in classification of bioinformatics data, in particular, it uses algorithms Fuzzy Rule Learning Model, whose results are compared to those of Fuzzy Unordered Rule Induction Algorithm. To assess the benefits of approach specifics, the experiments were carried out using eleven real bioinformatics data sets provided by University of Ljubljana, Faculty of computer and information science Bioinformatics Laboratory on their home page. The article provides conclusions about the efficacy of rule weight assessment methods and outlines the course of future research

    Lightning Performance on Transmission Line Towers

    A method of transmission tower models construction for atmospheric overvoltages performance studies is presented. The overvoltage waves produce electric fields along the tower, the shielding wire and along the conductor. EMTP program has been selected as the software used to generate the fault data. The results show that EMTP is capable for analyzing lightning parameters in the transmission line towers structures. The conclusions of the calculation results presented in this paper is, that the selected tower models can affect the overvoltages waves propagation on high voltage power network segments and its affect will change accordingly with the tower geometrical parameters

    The Effect of Mineral Admixtures such as Coal and Wood Ashes on the Compressive Strength of Concrete

    Landfilling is becoming very restrictive due to shrinking landfill space and strict environmental regulations, CO2 emissions from cement industry must be reduced, thus substituting part of the cement clinker with by-products or waste materials such as coal/wood ashes is one of the solutions for these problems. Coal ash (CA) and wood ash (WA) are the residues generated due to combustion of coal/wood and coal/wood products. In present study coal/wood ashes and additionally ground coal/wood ashes for 30 min in laboratory planetary ball mill were used as partial substitution of cement at 3 levels 20, 30, and 40% in concrete mixes. Standard testing sample 100×100×100mm cubes were produced. Two days later the samples were dismantled. Standard curing conditions (temperature 20±2oC, RH > 95±5%) were provided during the process of concrete hardening. Compressive strength of hardened concrete samples was determined at the age of 7, 28 and 56 days. Compression testing machine with the accuracy of ±1% was used, the rate of loading was 0.7 MPa/s (according to LVS EN 12390-3:2009 standard).

    IEEE802.11n Standard's Capability to Support Wireless Device in Vehicular Environment

    Mobile communication based on wireless local area network (WLAN) technology have potential to support automated guided vehicle and in the same time to obtain Internet connectivity for users in-motion. Wireless access for the vehicular environment based on IEEE802.11p technology provides the required principally standardization for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) solution, and supports raw data rate up to 27 Mbps. While devices based on IEEE802.11n technology for mobile users can provide data rate up to 600Mbps. In this article is presented an experimental study of IEEE802.11n in legacy mode settings compare to IEEE802.11g standard using off-the-shelf equipments in vehicle to infrastructure scenario. In particular, there is shown the performance of TCP transfer between a high mobile user and stationer WLAN base stations

    Robust Dimensionality Reduction in Bioinformatics Data

    This article proposes a technique to reduce data dimensionality in bioinformatics tasks. In the cases where there are thousands of attributes and only few hundred instances even the scalable classification methods benefit from diminishing the number of features. But at the moment there is no way of finding the best feature selection and evaluation method for a particular data set and the performance of these methods varies a lot depending on the specific nature of a data set. Therefore it is necessary to find a robust technique that would perform the process of feature selection without the impact of a specific method. The system proposed in this article minimizes this effect while still producing highly informative feature subsets that are easier to comprehend, interpret and use in classification
