In order to improve the feed quality, enzyme preparatories were added to the diets, wich all of the main components were plant origin. Five treatments in a completely randomized design were 9 fold replicaed, namely: 1. Diet without enzyme addition (control), 2. (-glucanose added to the diet), 3. Hemicellulase added to the diet, 4. Cellulase added to the diet, 5. (-glucanase, hemicellulase and cellulase added to the diet. To ascertain the digestibility of the nutrients of the treated diets, a total of 90 male chicks of LSLBrown were selected and kept in a climate conditioned room (temperature 22 C, relative humidity 65-70 %, lighting 24 hours per day of 20-25 Lux). The results of this experiment showed that the addition of the enzyme to the diet effected Significantly the digestibility of the fat (p 0,001),ash (p . 0,05) and sugar (p 0,05). The addition of combined (-glucanase, hemicellul ase, and cellulase to the diet improved feed conversion ratio of 9, 7 % compared to the control. The nitrogen effictenoy ratio and anergi efficiency ratio were also significantly better (p O,05), each of 9.8 % and ll.8 %

Analysis of calcium and phosphor has been done by using conventional and instrumental methods. Lorenz gravimetric method was employed to determine phosphor, whereas permanganometric methods used to determine calcium. Spectronic molibdovanadophosphate and atomic absorption spectrophotometric methods were used as control for phosphor and calcium respectively. Samples analysed in this study were molasses and driedfaeces. Results show that there is no significant effect on analysis phosphor by using both Lorenz gravimetric method and its control. Similarly, permanganometrlc methods result in the same value with its control

Experiments have been carried out to analyse sugars using TLC and HPLC methods, In the TLC method, separation of sugars was performed on silica plates impregnated with monosodium phosphate and using mixture of ethylacettuel pyridinde/water as an eluent. Whilst in the HPLC method, the use of three column types i.e. diol, RP-18 and modified silica column were tested. The results showed that TLC method was able to measure three sugars i:e. sucrose, glucose and fructose with standard deviations of 11.6%, 7,6% and 1,9%, respectively. On the other hand, the HPLC method with silica column modified by polyamine and compressed with WATERS RCM-l00, showed the best results, in which mixtures of nine sugars were well separated and measured quantitatively with good precisian

PREPARATION OF LEAD ZIRCONATE TITANATE FILM BY SOL-GEL METHOD AND ITS CHARACTERIZATION

    Get PDF
A ferroelectric material film of Lead Zirconate Titanate, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT), was produced by sol-gel method from alkoxide and acetate precursors in a normal propanol solvent system. The excess amount of Pb was 10 mole % more than stoichiometrically used for preparing the solution. The concentration of PZT in coating solution was 0.7 M, and pH of the solution was 4.5. The films was prepared by dip-coating onto slide glass, silica glass and Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate. In order to avoid cracking TiO2 was coated on the glasses as a barrier layer. The asdried PZT film was amorphous from X-ray diffraction. The amount of pyrochlore and perovskite phase depended on the heating temperature and kind of barrier layer. Single perovskite phase was found for coated films on TiO2/SiO2 and Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si heated at 600 C or higher, but it was never found for coated films on SiO2 substrate without barrier layers. Crystallization of perovskite PZT film was retarded when deposited on amorphous substrates as compared to crystalline substrate. The coated film on Pt/Til/SiO2/Si was thicker and smaller in particle size than that of coated film on Ti02/SiO2. A columnar structure with a diameter around 6.5 nm, was observed and no boundary was observed between layers in 9 time dipcoated film on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si

Adsorption equilibrium of a dye stuff (Basacryl Red X. GRL 300% of BASF) on a natural zeolite from Bayah was investigated by studying the effects of dye concentrations, panicle sizes of adsorbent, agitation rates and adsorption temperatures. The experimental results indicated that adsorption follows the Langmuir and Freundlich equations. Adsorption of dye stuff into the zeolite increased by decreasing the adsorbent panicle size and by increasing both temperature and agitation rate. The adsorption ability of the natural zeolite could be increased up to 5-7 % higher than inactroated zeolite via an aktivation proces by treating it with H2SO4, HCL, HNO3, NaOH or heating seperately. It is found that the maximum adsorption by zeolite occured at the base or acid concentration of 0,05 N, or at temperature of 100C

Mutation of Aspergillus oryzae was carried out by ultra violet irradiation at 254 nm. The mutans obtained with 0, 10, 20,30, 40 and 50 minutes irradiation were screened for their amylolytic activity and alpha amylase production. The latter was carried out by aerobic fermentation using sago (Metroxylon spy starch in shake flasks for five days at 30C with orbital shake at 120 rpm. The observation indicated that the mutant resulted from 10 minute irradiation demonstrated a maximum alpha amylase activity of 1675 Unit/g protein at day-d. The amylase activity was assayed at 40C for 30 minute incubation. The starch utilization was 87% and 3.84 g dry weight of biomass per L medium was produced. The specific activity of alpha amylase obtained from untreated parental strain was 1069 Unitlg protein. Starch consumption and biomass production was 80% and 3.62 g dry weight/ L medium, respectively. The increase of alpha amylase specific activity at 10 minute irradiation time was 56%

EFFECT OF STOPPING FERMENTATION OF Leuconostoc mesenteroides ATCC 10830 (8-512F) AT DIFFERENT GROWTH STAGES ON DEXTRAN FORMATION AND MEDIUM VISCOSITY

At the cut end of deteriorated sugar cane stalks, Leuconostocmesenteroides grows, secreting dextransucrase and formingdextran. When biocide is sprayed, bacteria will be killed butdextransucrase might still be active and forming dextran. In this experiment, it was found that when fermentation wasstopped (L. mesenteroi des were killed) this enzyme(dextransucrase) was still able to form high concentration ofdextran. The amount of dextran formed depended on the time offermentation. It also depended on the p H and temperature duringthe incubation which affect the activity and the stability ofdextransucrase. The higher the incubation temperature (20-30C),the more sensitive dextransucrase activity to the pH changes (PH4.6 - 5.4). The highest dextransucrase stability during a 20 hincubation was found at pH 5,4. The highest activity was foundat 30C for pH 5.4 while at 25C the activity was only slightly10IVer than 30C.Key words: dextran formation, medium viscosity, dextransucrase
