Data from "Dual-specificity phosphatase 5 (DUSP5) controls the localized inhibition, propagation and transforming potential of ERK signaling"
This repository contains the data used to construct figures in the paper "Dual-specificity phosphatase 5 (DUSP5) controls the localized inhibition, propagation and transforming potential of ERK signaling" by Kidger et al., published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, USA. All numerical data are included in a Microsoft Excel file labelled "numerical data for Kidger et al 2017". Tabs within this spreadsheet are labelled with the figures names the data correspond to in the publication. Similarly, images and Western blot scans are all labelled with figure titles. Please see the publication for details of experimental procedures.Details of experimental procedures can be found in the Kidger et al. 2017 publication. Detailed high content microscopy methodology can also be found in the following paper:

Data provided in the Microsoft Excel file include a combination of data derived from high content microscopy and automated analysis (GE Healthcare IN Cell 2000 microscope and IN Cell Developer software), immunoblot analysis from scanned images using a Licor Odyssey scanner, quantitative PCR techniques and a small number of manual counting assays for cellular senescence and focus formation.For high content microscopy, single cell data is shown as raw arbitrary fluorescence unit (AFU) values. For population-averaged data, where immunostaining experiments were pooled from several independent experiments, each of which usually had several replicate samples per plate, average AFU values from entire wells were normalised as percentages of values from control wells in each plate and applied across all technical replicate wells in the 96-well plate, prior to data pooling between independent experiments. Other types of data derived from high content microscopy are represented as discrete values. For example, an AFU cutoff for label intensity above background values was used to assign whether a cell had entered S-phase within a given pulse window of fluorescent labelling. All analysis of nuclear and cytoplasmic intensity values was carried out using a custom routine described in Caunt, Kidger and Keyse, Methods Mol Biol. 2016;1447:197-215. doi: 10.1007/978-1-4939-3746-2_12.
Where possible, we have included Western blot as original blot scans, as well as raw intensity values in the spreadsheet derived from the Licor scanner, and also values corrected for loading and normalised to control samples contained in each replicate blot (or normalised according to the mean signal intensity across the blot).Please see Kidger et al 2017 for details of experimental procedures and equipment used

English Speed Networking Conversational Transcripts LDC2016T16
English Speed Networking Conversational Transcripts was developed at the University of the West of England and contains 388 transcripts of English face-to-face and instant messaging conversations about business ideas collected in 2014 and 2015 from participants (undergraduate students) playing different power roles.
This corpus was created to examine communication accommodation, specifically, the ways in which an individual's linguistic style, or how an individual communicates, is affected by social power and personality. The data was collected in two studies. In the first study, 40 participants had a series of paired five minute face-to-face conversations playing either a high, low or neutral power role. The same procedure was followed in the second study except that participants discussed business ideas via instant messaging.The face-to-face conversations were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. There are 139 transcripts of conversations between high and low power individuals and 63 transcripts of conversations between neutral power individuals.
The instant messaging program automatically saved the transcripts of the messaging conversations; the transcripts were then retrieved and formatted for analysis. There are 85 transcripts of conversations between high and low power individuals and 101 transcripts of conversations between neutral power individuals.
The transcripts were anonymized. Gender and age metadata are available where provided.
All transcripts are presented as UTF-8 plain text files

Dataset for "Ultrasound Imaging Velocimetry with interleaved images for improved pulsatile arterial flow measurements: a new correction method, experimental and in vivo validation"
Blood velocity measurements are important in physiological science and clinical diagnosis. Doppler ultrasound is the most commonly used method but can only measure one velocity component. Ultrasound imaging velocimetry (UIV) is a promising technique capable of measuring two velocity components; however, there is a limit on the maximum velocity that can be measured with conventional hardware which results from the way images are acquired by sweeping the ultrasound beam across the field of view. Interleaved UIV is an extension of UIV in which two image frames are acquired concurrently, allowing the effective inter-frame separation time to be reduced and therefore increasing the maximum velocity that can be measured. The sweeping of the ultrasound beam across the image results in a systematic error which must be corrected: in this work we derived and implemented a new velocity correction method which accounts for acceleration of the scatterers. We then, for the first time, assessed the performance of interleaved UIV for measuring pulsatile arterial velocities by measuring flows in phantoms and in vivo and comparing the results with spectral Doppler ultrasound and transit-time flow probe data. The velocity and flow rate in the phantom agreed within 5-10 % of peak velocity, and 2-9% of peak flow, respectively and in vivo the velocity difference was 9 % of peak velocity. The maximum velocity measured was 1.8 m/s, the highest velocity reported with UIV. This will allow flows in diseased arteries to be investigated and so has the potential to increase diagnostic accuracy and enable new vascular research
