    Dataset for "Summer thermal comfort and overheating in the elderly"

    The data within this dataset was collected from 43 homes, all in Bath, UK, with at least one occupant aged 65 or over. Sensors were placed in the living rooms and bedrooms of the participating homes to measure temperature at 90-minute intervals throughout the phases of the project. There were four phases in total: November 2016 – March 2017; June 2017 – September 2017; November 2017 – March 2018; June 2018 – September 2018. Corresponding questionnaires were completed on a monthly basis throughout the phases of the project, gathering data about thermal comfort. Within this dataset the measured internal temperatures and participant self-reported thermal comfort are contained in CSV files. This part of the dataset contains the data collected during summer for the following time period: June 2017 – September 2017 and June 2018 – September 2018.Longitudinal temperature monitoring using iButton temperature sensors and monthly questionnaires

    This dataset includes anonymised transcripts, NVivo and SPSS files derived from interviews and focus groups conducted as part of the study "Sexual health and social inequities in women on opioid substitution treatment: what are the opportunities for community pharmacy?".The research was conducted by means of interviews and focus groups. Twenty women on opioid substitution treatment (WOST) and fourteen community pharmacists (CPs) were interviewed between September 2016 and April 2017. Four WOST and three CPs took part in focus groups that took place in September 2017. Recruitment for WOST took place in drug services and a service for sex workers. CPs were recruited through community pharmacies. Data were collected in Bath, Bristol and Midsomer Norton (South West of England). Qualitative data was analysed using Framework Analysis and Content Analysis.The dataset consists of NVivo .nvp files, SPSS .sav and .spv files, and interview transcripts in rich text format (RTF).Participants did not give consent for data to be shared, therefore no access can be given to third parties. The files are being securely preserved in line with University policy

    Data sets used to prepare Figures 1-13 in the Frontiers in Materials article entitled "Structure of the intermediate phase glasses GeSe3 and GeSe4: The deployment of neutron diffraction with isotope substitution." The figures show (i) the measured neutron diffraction results and (ii) a comparison of several of the neutron diffraction results with those obtained from first principles molecular dynamics simulations. The data sets were created using the methodology described in the manuscript. The files are labelled according to the figure numbers. Each of the plots was drawn using QtGrace (https://sourceforge.net/projects/qtgrace/). The data set corresponding to a plotted curve within an QtGrace file can be identified by clicking on that curve. Once a data set has been identified, it can be exported in ASCII format via the DATA tab. The units for each axis are identified on the plots. An explanation of each figure is documented in the README file, and in the published paper.The data sets were collected using the methods described in the published paper.The data sets were analysed using the methods described in the published paper.Figures 1 - 13 were prepared using QtGrace (https://sourceforge.net/projects/qtgrace/).     Embodied energy and embodied carbon of 81 shelters globally

    This excel file contains information and calculations used to estimate the embodied energy and the embodied carbon of emergency, transitional and durable shelters used to house displaced persons. The study considers a sample of 81 shelters drawn from 34 countries in South and Central America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.In this research the boundary conditions for embodied energy and carbon estimates were “cradle-to-gate”, which are the boundary conditions of the ICE Database data. “Cradle-to-gate” boundaries include the energy and carbon associated with raw material extraction, transportation to manufacturing plants, and manufacturing and fabrication into building materials. They exclude: (i) energy and carbon associated with transportation to the construction site (as this study considers that the location is not yet known); (ii) the construction process itself; (iii) the operation of the finished building (which is climate, and thus also location, dependent); and (iv) the end of life (e.g. disposal) stage (as again this involves location-dependent figures, often unknown in a humanitarian context) The shelters were selected by prioritizing the documents that provided detailed bills of quantities. It should be stressed that our analysis and interest is not on commenting on the EE or EC of particular designs, but in looking at the summary statistics of the whole sample.The ICE database was downloaded from http://www.circularecology.com/embodied-energy-and-carbon-footprint-database.htmlThe spreadsheet is in Microsoft Excel 2007+ format

    This dataset contains all the data that underlie the paper of 'Attenuation limit of silica-based hollow-core fiber at mid-infrared wavelengths'. Numerical data in csv form are included to replot all figures in the paper. SEM picture of fabricated antiresonant hollow-core fibre in tiff form and its reconstructed CAD model in dwg format are also provided.Numerical data was obtained by simulations using the commercial software COMSOL, as described in detail in the manuscript. Experimental data was recorded as described in the manuscript

    Dataset for "Six weeks of daily morning fasting causes no adaptation of metabolic or appetite responses to feeding in adults with obesity"

    We present data collected as part of a randomised controlled trial to establish if daily breakfast consumption or fasting until noon modifies the acute metabolic and appetitive responses to a fixed breakfast and ad libitum lunch in individuals with obesity. The dataset contains measurements of participants' food intake, appetite regulatory hormones and metabolic responses throughout a laboratory testing day before and after a sustained period of either daily breakfast consumption or morning fasting.Data collection methods are outlined in the manuscript and protocol paper (Betts et al, 2011, Trials) with additional information relating to the dataset included in the readme file. Using a parallel group design, 22 healthy men and women (25-58y) were randomly assigned to 6-wk of consuming ≥700 kcal of self-selected items before 1100 or remaining fasted (0 kcal) until 1200 daily. Following 48h of diet and physical activity standardization, we examined metabolic and appetite responses to a standardized breakfast and ad libitum lunch before and after the intervention.Data was analyzed using 3 and 2-way ANCOVA

    This dataset contains data from the characterisations of chemical vapour deposition (CVD) graphene Hall sensors with wire widths between 50nm and 1500nm. Characterisations include noise amplitude at various drive currents and back gate voltages, Hall voltage measurements at various magnetic fields and back gate voltages, 2-wire voltage measurements with back gate voltage, and an SEM image used in publications/dissemination. The data files are named according to a convention that indicates to which wire width each file corresponds. Data in figures 7 and 8b of the associated paper are based on all of the complete sets of data for each of the wire widths.Data was collected using: - a Stanford SR380 Lock-in amplifier for 2-wire FET measurement voltage and current data - translating to a resistance; - a Keithley 2450 SMU for Hall voltage data; - a Keithley 2400 SMU for back gate voltage applied data and gate leakage current data; - a HP3561A DSA for voltage noise amplitude data. The Hall probe array (Hall probes being the intersection of two equal width wires varying from 50nm to 1500nm) is glued and wire bonded into a headless package which is then placed in an oxford cryostat insert with electrical connections to the instruments which are then connected to the controlling PC. The insert is inserted into the cryostat and sealed. A Labview program was used to create the automated collection data sets. Where data was not automatically collected, this was taken manually off the above-mentioned instrument's screens and noted down in the previously detailed laboratory book. Data was copied and stored here for electronic storage. All data was collected under room temperature and 10-6 mbar pressures. The magnetic field is created by a 35mT electromagnet whose power is supplied by an 8A Kepco power supply. Aside from manual datasets, the power supply is automatically operated from a Labview program.All data is in its raw form as taken from the measuring instruments. A MATLAB file for the processing of the noise data acquired from the DSA is included in this repository.MATLAB is required for the code and manually copied electronically stored data. SEM data for the 85nm in the illustratory figure 9 is provided in the raw SEM file formats and TIF file format

    Original, unprocessed data for all novel compounds in the associated paper. Data available includes 1H, 13C, 19F, and 11B Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) data, copies of mass spectrometry data, and copies of infra-red (IR) spectra.Full experimental details for the preparation of each compound can be found the the Supplementary Information of the associated paper. Infrared spectra were recorded on a Shimadzu IRAffinity-1 Fourier transform IR spectrophotometer fitted with a Specac Quest ATR accessory (diamond puck). Spectra were recorded of either thin films or solids, with characteristic absorption wavenumbers (νmax) reported in cm–1. 1H, 13C{1H}, and 19F{1H} NMR spectra were acquired on either a Bruker AV300 with a BBFO probe (1H 300 MHz; 13C{1H} 75 MHz; 19F{1H} 282 MHz), a Bruker AV400 with a BBFO probe (1H 400 MHz; 13C{1H} 101 MHz; 19F{1H} 377 MHz), a Bruker AVII 400 with a BBFO probe (1H 400 MHz; 13C{1H} 101 MHz; 19F{1H} 376 MHz), a Bruker AVIII-HD 500 with a SmartProbe BBFO+ probe (1H 500 MHz, 13C{1H} 126 MHz, 19F{1H} 470 MHz, 11B 160 MHz), a Bruker AVIII 500 with a CryoProbe Prodigy BBO probe (1H 500 MHz, 13C{1H} 126 MHz, 19F{1H} 470 MHz, 11B 160 MHz) in the deuterated solvent stated. Mass spectrometry (m/z) data were acquired by either electrospray ionisation (ESI), chemical ionisation (CI), electron impact (EI), atmospheric solids analysis probe (ASAP), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) or nanospray ionisation (NSI) at either the University of St Andrews Mass Spectrometry Facility ([A] quoted) or at the EPSRC UK National Mass Spectrometry Facility at Swansea University ([A]+ or [A]– quoted).IR spectra were processed using Shimadzu IRsolution FTIR control software. Final processed spectra are available as PDF files. NMR data were processed using MestReNova (v.11.0.2) available from Mestrelab Research S.L. Original unprocessed FID files and processed MestReNova files are available. Mass spectroscopy data was used as received from the managed facilities. The spectra are available as PDF files.The numbers of individual folders correspond to the compound numbers in the associated manuscript
