Perceived credibility of autistic witnesses and the effect of diagnostic information on credibility ratings 2013-2018
One-hundred-and-twenty-five mock jurors rated the credibility of video testimony of 17 autistic and 17 TD witness participants recalling an event. Half of the juror participants were informed that some of the witnesses were autistic and were provided with information about autism; the other half received no information about witnesses’ diagnoses.
Results indicate that disclosing one’s autism diagnosis (alongside further information about autism) may result in a positive bias in terms of witnesses’ perceived credibility. Implications for jury instructions and future research directions are discussed.Videos of autistic and typically developing (TD) witnesses were taken from a previous experiment (Maras et al., 2013). Here, the experimenter and witness participant each performed several actions on a road traffic accident mannequin and were subsequently interviewed for their memory of the event. Interviews comprised two aspects: free recall and subsequent questioning (as per Achieving Best Evidence guidelines, Home Office, 2011).

Data set for "Taking aversive action: an experimental investigation into the negotiation of bodily limits"
This data set includes all data associated with the study, "Taking aversive action: an experimental investigation into the negotiation of bodily limits." The data include Gender, Age, BMI and Activity levels (IPAQ). In addition they include all data associated with the main variables of the study, including Interoceptive Accuracy, Heart Rate Variability, Anxiety Sensitivity, Porges Body awareness, and Mean Power Output. Absolute difference scores are provided for time intervals 1, 2, and 3.Thirty-eight participants (19F; Mean age: 23y; SD±4y) were recruited from a university campus through poster and electronic advertisement. All participants were screened for their health and activity level via the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ short form) prior to the initiation of the study (Appendix. 1): only participants determined to be inactive (performed less than 3 x 20 minutes of vigorous exercise per week; <600 MET minutes) and otherwise healthy met the inclusion criteria (Total screened=40; two excluded due to activity levels). Participants were excluded if they had previously completed the maximal exercise tasks, were currently experiencing pain or had a history of pain lasting more than 3 months (full exclusion criteria: diagnosed cardiovascular disease, diagnosed respiratory disorder [COPD; cystic fibrosis] or neurological disorder [TIA, infarction/haemorrhage, cerebral palsy or neurological deficit], diagnosed psychiatric disorders [major depressive disorder; schizophrenia, bipolar]). This study was conducted in accordance with the declaration of Helsinki and ethical approval was obtained from divisions of Health and Psychology. All 38 participants provided written, informed consent.
Participants were required to complete two separate sessions: first a baseline session and then a test session, with a minimum of 24 hours’ rest between each one. For the total duration of both sessions, participants wore a heart rate monitor, which was connected to a Polar V800 watch. All participants were asked to abstain from alcohol and caffeine in the preceding 24-hours of the baseline and test sessions

This dataset contains video content and articles created by the University of Bath for the Horizon 2020 funded project 'Unsettling Remembering and Social Cohesion in Transnational Europe' (UNREST). This content was filmed and written for a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) which was hosted on the Future Learn platform. Dataset for 'Skipping breakfast before exercise creates a more negative 24-hour energy balance: A randomized controlled trial in healthy physically active young men'
The aim of this study was to assess the effect of pre-exercise breakfast omission versus consumption on 24-h energy balance. The data set contains data about 12 healthy men who completed preliminary testing followed by three trials in a randomized order (separated >1 week): a breakfast of oats and milk (431 kcal; 65 g CHO, 11 g FAT, 19 g PRO) followed by rest (BR); breakfast before exercise (BE; 60 min cycling at 50% peak power output); and overnight-fasting before exercise (FE). These results from the study suggested that, neither exercise energy expenditure nor the restricted energy intake via breakfast omission were completely compensated for post-exercise. Therefore, in healthy men, pre-exercise breakfast omission creates a more negative daily energy balance and could be a useful strategy to induce a short-term energy deficit.Supplementary (individual participant) data are included in this data set for reported outcome measures

Research data collected for the submitted article "Graphite protection layers enable halide perovskite based photoanodes for water splitting". Devices were fabricated via solution-based processes and characterised using electrochemistry, photochemistry and optoelectronic methods. The main characterisation techniques used are current-voltage curve measurements, AFM (atomic force microscopy) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy) imaging, XRD (X-ray diffraction), UV-Vis and electrochemical techniques, such as chronoamperometry and voltammetry.Data have been all collected at University of Bath using electrochemistry, photochemistry and optoelectronic methods.All details of fabrication and characterisation methods are available in the READ ME text file uploaded together with the zipped data
Ionospheric signals from sub-ionospheric radio transmissions on 2016 August 27
Data collected from a wideband radio receiver in Bath, UK was analysed to obtain ionospheric signals from narrow band sub-ionospheric radio transmissions. The transmissions analysed in the dataset are callsigns GBZ (19.58kHz), GQD (22.1kHz), DHO (23.4kHz) and MSF (60kHz). The ionospheric signals reveal perturbations in the ionosphere along the propagation paths of the transmissions during the period of measurement on 2016 August 27. Evaluation of a graded exercise test to determine peak fat oxidation in individuals with low cardiorespiratory fitness
The aims of this study were to develop a graded exercise protocol employing four-minute stages to observe whether steady-state gaseous exchange was attained within four-minutes and to assess the graded test’s surrogate validity and day-to-day reliability to determine rates of peak fat oxidation during exercise (PFO) in individuals with low cardiorespiratory fitness. This study was a cross-over design where sixteen healthy adults first completed an incremental graded exercise test (GE) followed by three short continuous exercise (SCE) sessions all in an overnight fasted-state (11 ± 1 h). The GE test was completed to determine rate of peak fat oxidation during exercise (PFO) and FATMAX i.e. the exercise intensity PFO occurred at (measured in absolute watts). The three SCE sessions were completed in a randomised order on separate days and involved completion of the graded test to the stage: 1) preceding (SCEpre); 2) equal to (SCEequal); or 3) after (SCEpost), PFO was attained, where participants then continued to cycle for 10-minutes at that respective intensity. Expired gases were sampled at minutes 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10 and substrate oxidation rates were assessed via indirect calorimetry

Dataset for 'Pre-Exercise Breakfast Ingestion versus Extended Overnight Fasting Increases Postprandial Glucose Flux after Exercise in Healthy Men: Pre-exercise feeding and postprandial glucose flux'
The aim of this study was to characterise postprandial glucose flux after exercise in the fed versus overnight fasted-state and to investigate potential underlying mechanisms. In a randomized order, twelve men underwent breakfast-rest (BR; 3 h semi-recumbent), breakfast-exercise (BE; 2 h semi-recumbent before 60-min of cycling (50% peak power output) and overnight fasted-exercise (FE; as per BE omitting breakfast) trials. An oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) was completed post-exercise (post-rest on BR). Dual stable isotope tracers ([U-13C] glucose ingestion and [6,6-2H2] glucose infusion) and muscle biopsies were combined to assess postprandial plasma glucose kinetics and intramuscular signaling, respectively. Plasma intestinal fatty acid binding (I-FABP) concentrations were determined as a marker of intestinal damage. The results from this study showed that consuming breakfast before exercise increases post-exercise postprandial plasma glucose disposal, which is offset (primarily) by increased appearance rates of orally-ingested glucose. Therefore, metabolic responses to fed-state exercise cannot be readily inferred from studies conducted in a fasted state.Supplementary (individual participant) data are included in this data set for reported outcome measures
