Dataset for "Phase Behavior and Substitution Limit of Mixed Cesium-Formamidinium Lead Tri-Iodide Perovskites"
The dataset includes continuous-wave photoluminescence (PL) spectra and PL decay data as a function of temperature for single crystal hybrid perovskite photovoltaic material Cs0.1FA0.9PbI3. Dataset for "Antagonistic Mixing in Micelles of Amphiphilic Polyoxometalates and Hexaethylene Glycol Monododecyl Ether"
The dataset contains ASCII files for the following:
- Small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) curves and fits for mixtures (mole ratios: 3:1, 1:1 and 1:3) containing polyoxometalate-headed surfactant(P2W17-2Cn, n= 12, 14, 16 and 18) and hydrogenated hexaethylene glycol monododecyl ether (C12EO6) as a function of surfactant total concentrations. Solutions are prepared in two different solvents: deuterium dioxide, 7:3 deuterium dioxide and H2O mixture.
- SANS curves and fits for mixtures containing P2W17-2Cn surfactant (n = 12 and 14) and tail-deuterated C12EO6 (mole ratios: 3:1, 1:1 and 1:3) as a function of surfactant total concentrations. Solutions are prepared in deuterium dioxide.
The dataset also contains Igor files for the following:
- The plot of determination of critical micelle concentrations (CMC) of the mixed P2W17-2Cn/C12EO6 H2O system through surface tension measurements and conductivity measurements.SANS experiments were performed on the LOQ and LARMOR instruments in Target Station I and II, respectively at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Spallation Source, Oxfordshire, UK.
The samples were measured in 1 cm wide, 1 mm path-length optical quartz cells at 25 degree C, using a thermostat-controlled circulating bath. Samples were measured for 40 μA (D2O) and 80 μA (70 mol% D2O) of neutron current on the LOQ instrument. For experiments on LARMOR, mixtures containing P2W17-2Cn with d-C12EO6 in D2O were measured for 20 μA.
The raw data were corrected for sample transmission and backgrounds from the solvent, the sample cell and other instrumental background using standard workflows in the Mantid software package. Scattering data were normalised against the scattering from a partially-deuterated polystyrene blend of known molecular weight, converting it to the differential scattering cross section d/d(q) (in an absolute scale of cm-1). The output data are hence given in absolute scattered intensity, I(q) in cm-1, versus the momentum transfer, q in Å-1.
The CMC of the C12EO6 in water was measured using a Du Noüy Ring (Attension Sigma 701 Tensiometer). The CMCs of the binary systems were measured by either conductivity using a METTLER TOLEDO conductivity meter or by a pendant-drop method using a Kruss DSA100 at Diamond Light Source. For P2W17-2Cn-rich mixtures, electrical conductivity measurements give CMC values with more accuracy, whereas surface tension measurements provide more accurate results for the C12EO6-rich mixtures
Participatory video recordings with women in the Niger Delta 2018-2019
A 30 minute film that highlights the comparative role of women in conflict settings; the film was put together using interview data with women participants in various locations in Bayelsa and Rivers states, including sights and sounds of the area.
Conflicts in the Niger Delta have reached a political brink that has attracted significant concerns and responsiveness at both local and international levels. Women in the Niger Delta have played a key role in organising important protests and are referred to continuously in relation to the adoption of nonviolence. Grievances expressed by women in the Delta region are typically concerned with environmental degradation and underdevelopment. Ogoni women, for example, have experienced, first-hand, the violent reprisals instigated by the Nigerian security forces. Yet, the women's' voices within the context of the nonviolent aspect of the conflict are absent in the literature. This project addresses two questions: What are the conflict related experiences of the Ijaw and Ogoni women? What future roles could the women in the Niger Delta play to advance the nonviolence agenda? It highlights the comparative roles of the women in conflict settings. The roles played by women to address oil-related environmental issues need to be brought at the fore of discussions on development in the region. Specifically, these gendered implications are important for development particularly in explaining the 'how' and 'why' within the differing trajectories of the movements in the oil producing areas of Nigeria.Women in the Niger Delta, in particular, Ogoni, Ijaw and Ogbia women are the subject’s studied in this project. The project activities were carried out in various locations in Bayelsa and Rivers states, in the South South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Women in the region have played a key role in organising important protests Ogoni women, for example, have experienced, first-hand, the violent reprisals instigated by the Nigerian security forces along with Shell multinational as counterparts.
Participants were recruited using snowballing sampling with the support of key contacts including, trusted leaders and non-governmental organisations I worked with during my PhD research. In order to produce the video on ‘Bringing Women’s Voices back In: Gender and Oil Conflicts in the Niger Delta, Nigeria’, three field trips to Nigeria were undertaken for two weeks each and followed by a one week dissemination visit at the end of the fellowship. During the initial visit, one week was spent with each women group, during which a one day preliminary workshop was held with identified participants to discuss the project, train the women to use the video cameras and answer any questions they had. Three days were spent engaging with and recording the women’s experiences and a one day video screening/group discussion was held during which each group had an initial look at the video recordings for their comment and approval. Being a woman myself, I participated in the actual recordings but, the participants decided on what information they were willing to share, in terms of the choice of nonviolence and violence in the conflicts. The footage captured during the fieldwork was edited at the Department of Social and Policy Sciences, University of Bath, United Kingdom and was presented to the participants during a one week trip back to Nigeria for their final approval and consent.
Participatory video was used as a documentation tool, to document local Niger Delta women's conflict related experiences from their own perspectives in their own voices. A method that actively engaged my participants, built trust and at the same time embowed them with new skills. It broke down illiteracy barriers using voice and visuals, and was successfully adapted to local ways of cultural representation. It created a more equitable relationship between my research participants and myself. Special care was taken when interviewing and filming marginalised groups at the community level. Securing these women’s involvement was particularly important to achieving the aims of my fellowship research. Participants were required to give their informed consent before taking part in the research, and had the right to withdraw at any time. I was especially mindful of cultural, religious, gendered and other significant differences within the research population in the planning, conducting and reporting of the research
Dataset for "Biological sex and aerobic capacity are key determinants of peak fat oxidation rates during exercise"
The dataset includes demographic data of the participants (n=115) and data from the three trials they participated in. The types of data that were collected during the trials are as follows: Trial A and Trial B followed identical protocols that involved anthropometric measurements, resting metabolic rate, a resting venous blood sample (to look at various plasma metabolite and hormone concentrations) and the completion of a graded exercise test to determine PFO and FATMAX by indirect calorimetry; at Trial C, body composition was assessed (via a dual energy x-ray absorptiometry scan) and optional adipose tissue and/or skeletal muscle biopsies were obtained (Biopsy data not included). All trials were completed in an overnight fasted-state
Dataset for "Battle for Britain: Analyzing Events as Drivers of Political Tribalism in Twitter Discussions of Brexit”
In this study, we investigate how Brexit tribalism has unfolded over time on Twitter. The dataset contains a corpus of tweets posted to Twitter during a period of 32 months following the 2016 UK European Union membership referendum. The tweets were selected as a result of searching for keywords: firstly for "Brexiteer" and "Remainer" and secondly for "Brextremist" and "Remoaner". The CSV file in this dataset contains both sets of results. There are two columns in the file: timestamp and tweet text, which will be sufficient to replicate our process. Tweet IDs were removed to preserve user anonymity. First, we characterize the nature of the discussion by comparing language use patterns between tweets containing Brexiteer/Remainer and Brextremist/Remoaner keywords. We find that Brextremist/Remoaner are more commonly used in a derogatory way. We also find that all four group identity keywords are used more frequently over time, suggesting an increase in tribal interactions. Finally, we find evidence of a relationship between real‐life Brexit events and spikes in tribal responses online.”Data was originally extracted from Twitter's Historical Power Track API, via Crimson Hexagon's Forsight platform (Crimson Hexagon, 2019).
We queried first for keywords “Brexiteer” and “Remainer,” then for “Brextremist” and “Remoaner,” producing two separate datasets in raw javascript object notation (JSON) format, including all tweet object fields.
The tweet object encompasses fundamental variables obtained for each tweet such as unique id, date, and text, along with information about retweets, favorites, and hashtags.
The raw JSON files were very large (over 80 GB), so we used a Python script to extract only the four key variables required for analysis: unique tweet id, date and time of tweet, text of tweet, and keyword associated with tweet.
The original number of users in the data set was n = 844,881. The resulting tweets were stored in a csv file and included a total of n = 9,027,822 tweets posted between June 1, 2016 and February 13, 2019.
For the purposes of this data upload, we retained only date and time of tweet and text of tweet, which is necessary to keep users anonymous
Dataset for "Adjusting organic load as a strategy to direct single-stage food waste fermentation from anaerobic digestion to chain elongation"
This dataset includes the results summary from a lab-scale bioreactor experiment as discussed in the research paper with the same name, published at Processes MDPI (De Groof, V.; Coma, M.; Arnot, T.C.; Leak, D.J.; Lanham, A.B. Adjusting Organic Load as a Strategy to Direct Single-Stage Food Waste Fermentation from Anaerobic Digestion to Chain Elongation. Processes 2020, 8, 1487.).
The study comprised two operational phases of duplicate reactors fed with food waste, each set to target a different product. The data comprises a summary on feedstock composition, microbial community analysis and operational conditions and product outcome per operational phase. The archaeal and bacterial community data includes the final sequences of the operational taxonomic units found and their relative abundance in each sample as determined by 16s rRNA amplicon sequencing. The raw data files have been submitted in the specialized EMBL-EBI database and are available under the accession number PRJEB39281.AnalyticalThis dataset was prepared and processed in Microsoft Excel from raw analytical data. The bioinformatic processing prior to the microbial community summary in the spreadsheet was done as outlined in the publication, and results were processed via the DNASense data analysis app (applies Rstudio IDE v.3.5.1 with the ampvis v.2.5.8. package)
Dataset for "Composite hydrogel spheroids based on cellulose nanofibrils and nanofibrous chiral coordination polymer by green synthesis"
This dataset contains data combined SAXS/WAXS data, rheology data, optical microscopy data (extracted using ImageJ) and powder X-ray diffraction data for hydrogel spheroids based on TEMPO-oxidised cellulose nanofibrils and a nanofibrous copper(II) aspartate coordination polymer. The data are provided in the form of Excel files and relate to figures presented in the main text and supplementary information of the publication "Composite hydrogel spheroids based on cellulose nanofibrils and nanofibrous chiral coordination polymer by green synthesis".
The file "Fig3B_data_SAXS-WAXS.xlsx" contains combined SAXS and WAXS data for the main text Figure 3B, which comprises combined SAXS and WAXS patterns for pure Cu-Asp as reference (prepared in water) and OCNF dispersions containing L-Asp at the following concentrations: a) 0 mM (control sample), b) 50 mM, c) 75 mM, d) 100 mM and e) 125 mM.
The file "Fig4_data_rheology1.xlsx" contains rheology data for the main text Figure 4, which comprises plots of G* and tan(delta) for OCNF dispersions containing L-Asp as a function L-Asp concentration in the range 0-150 mM.
The file "Fig6B_data_time-lapse-optical-microscopy.xlsx" contains data for the main text Figure 6B from time lapse optical microscopy, extracted using ImageJ as detailed in the manuscript. Dataset for "The mid-infrared Leavitt Law for Classical Cepheids in the Magellanic Clouds"
This dataset provides mid-infrared mean magnitudes for Classical Cepheids in the Magellanic Clouds. It consists of data for 2352 Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and 2672 Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) Cepheids. These data were produced using the methods described in the associated paper, "The mid-infrared Leavitt Law for Classical Cepheids in the Magellanic Clouds". The dataset includes the following information for each Cepheid: host galaxy, ID, 3.6µm mean magnitude and associated uncertainty, 4.5µm mean magnitude and associated uncertainty, colour excess E(B-V) and associated uncertainty, a flag to show rejected data, and an alternative ID (if applicable).Mid-infrared images of the Magellanic Clouds were obtained by the Spitzer Space Telescope at 3.6µm and 4.5µm wavelengths. We developed a fully-automated photometry pipeline to process this data and produce mid-infrared light curves for Cepheids in the Magellanic Clouds. A template light curve fitting procedure using Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) processes was developed to obtain mean magnitudes of these Cepheids with sparse observations.Period values given in the dataset are taken from the following paper: Soszyński, I., Udalski, A., Szymański, M.K., Wyrzykowski, Ł., Ulaczyk, K., Poleski, R., . . .
