Dataset for "Rational whole-life carbon assessment using a dynamic climate model: Comparison of a concrete, steel and timber building structure"
This dataset concerns a research study on the embodied carbon assessment of building structures. It includes the numerical data which is plotted in the journal paper titled "Embodied carbon assessment using a dynamic climate model: Case-study comparison of a concrete, steel and timber building structure".
The data is in .csv format and is output from a numerical dynamic life cycle assessment, which models the climate impacts of greenhouse gas emissions. Each file relates to a figure in the associated paper, with full descriptions in the 'read-me' file.The data is generated using a dynamic numerical climate model, as described in the associated publication. This enables a static embodied carbon calculation to be interpreted in terms of its climate impacts. Results are given on an annual sampling rate.The file ReadMe.txt provides details on how the CSV files have been structured
Ameliorating the disadvantage for autistic job seekers: An initial evaluation of adapted employment interview questions 2017-2020
Despite possessing valuable skills, social communication differences mean that autistic people are frequently disadvantaged in job interviews. We examined how autistic and non-autistic adults compared on standard (unmodified) job interview questions, then used these findings to develop and evaluate supportive adaptations to questions. Fifty adults (25 autistic, 25 non-autistic) took part in two mock job interviews. Interview 1 provided a baseline measure of performance when answering typical, unmodified interview questions. Employment experts (unaware of participants’ autism diagnoses) rated all interviewees on question-specific performance and overall impressions; then provided feedback about how interviewees could improve, and how questions could be adapted to facilitate this. Interviewees also provided feedback about the interview process, from their perspective. Adaptations to the questions were developed, with Interview 2 taking place approximately six months later, and ratings were again gathered from employers regarding interviewees' performance for each question and their overall impressions of them.Fifty adults (25 autistic, 25 non-autistic) took part in two mock job interviews. Dataset for "Site-specific symmetry sensitivity of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy in layered palladium diselenide"
PdSe is an emerging 2D transition-metal dichalcogenide with band gap ranging from ~eV in the monolayer to a predicted semimetallic behavior in the bulk. Our measurements reveal the semiconducting nature of the bulk. Furthermore, constant binding-energy maps of reciprocal space display a remarkable site-specific sensitivity to the atomic arrangement and its symmetry. This dataset contains details necessary to reproduce the supporting density functional theory calculations within the associated publication. Parallel sampling process was used: nodes were not coded more than one time in a single page. Once a certain node was coded, it wasn’t coded again regardless of its repeated occurrence in the relevant page. This approach assumes that the presence of a node in a page is sufficient to consider that the node plays a considerable role in the page’s rhetoric. However, and most importantly, this approach meant that a percentage of how often a certain node is mentioned (relative to the number of pages) can be easily shown. The coding process itself adopted a rather conservative approach; the coded sentence, word, or phrase, should be directly and unequivocally referable to the nodes they are allocated to.Coding was done using NVivo
Supplementary data for Bashar Al Shawa's PhD thesis: floor areas, Energy Use Intensities (EUIs), and blocks' sizes and tariffs
This dataset relates to Bashar Al Shawa's PhD thesis. It includes detailed outputs for Chapter 2's model, the Energy Use Intensity (EUI) model (Chapter 4), and the econometric model (Chapter 5). Data for Chapter 2's model covers total and per capita floor areas in the years 2017 and 2060. Data for the EUI model covers the required EUIs for newly constructed and existing residential residential and non-residential buildings. Data for the econometric model covers block sizes and tariffs, rebound effect, and extent of energy poverty.Please refer to Bashar Al Shawa's PhD thesis for information on the methodology used to arrive at each figure occurring in the dataset.This dataset was created using Microsoft Excel
Datset for "Resting skeletal muscle ATGL and CPT1B are associated with peak fat oxidation rates in men and women but do not explain observed sex differences"
The dataset includes demographic data of the participants who opted for adipose tissue and/or skeletal muscle biopsies (n=36) recruited as part of a larger study (n=115). Additionally, data from the three trials they participated in are included. The types of data that were collected during the trials are as follows - Trial A and Trial B followed identical protocols that involved anthropometric measurements, resting metabolic rate, a resting venous blood sample (to look at various plasma metabolite and hormone concentrations) and the completion of a graded exercise test to determine PFO and FATMAX by indirect calorimetry. At Trial C, body composition was assessed (via a dual energy x-ray absorptiometry scan) and optional adipose tissue and/or skeletal muscle biopsies were obtained. The adipose tissue and muscle biopsy data revolves around the content of several key proteins involved in fat metabolism in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle that may regulated fat use during exercise. All trials were completed in an overnight fasted-state

This dataset contains data supporting the results presented in the paper "Sub millimetre flexible fibre probe for background and fluorescence free Raman spectroscopy ". It includes the data used to plot each figure (in .xlsx format).
Using the shifted-excitation Raman difference spectroscopy technique and an optical fibre featuring a negative curvature excitation core and a coaxial ring of high numerical aperture collection cores, we have developed a portable, background and fluorescence free, endoscopic Raman probe. The probe consists of a single fibre with a diameter of less than 0.25 mm packaged in a sub-millimetre tubing, making it compatible with standard bronchoscopes. The Raman excitation light in the fibre is guided in air and therefore interacts little with silica, enabling an almost background free transmission of the excitation light. In addition, we used the shifted-excitation Raman difference spectroscopy technique and a tunable 785 nm laser to separate the fluorescence and the Raman spectrum from highly fluorescent samples, demonstrating the suitability of the probe for biomedical applications. Using this probe we also acquired fluorescence free human lung tissue data.The different data collection methods used for the collection of the data are described in the paper Sub millimetre flexible fibre probe for background and fluorescence free Raman spectroscopy

Primary data relevant to Figures 2, 3, 6 and 7 in the article "Keratin-chitosan microcapsules via membrane emulsification and interfacial complexation". The data for Figures 2 and 6 consist of zeta potential measurement results of keratin and droplets respectively; the data for Figure 3 consists of turbidity measurement results; and the data for Figure 7 is data on the release of Nile red from microcapsules, specifically the absorbance at 520nm, and the calculated concentration of Nile red and % release.Full details of the methodology used may be found in the Experimental Section of the associated manuscript
Code for Group-velocity symmetry in photonic crystal fibre for ultra-tunable quantum frequency conversion
This data set includes the MATLAB scripts used to generate the plots in each figure of this paper. Specifically, "PCF_BSFWM_Broadbandfinder032020.m" was used to create the plot in fig.2 measuring the broadband conversion of PCF from the sellmier equations for refractive index in PCF; "PCF_BSFWM_Broadbandphasematching0420.m" was used to find specific examples of broadband PCF and "NLSE_bsfwm_in_pcf.m" was used in a similar way to look at individual fibre designs. Also included are the functions referenced in each script. Results are derived from first principles so no input data is needed.All data was produced from first principles and the saitoh and koshiba method for PCF analysis and analysed using the included MATLAB scripts.Produced using MATLAB 2016.
