Architecture as Political Expression/ the Expression of national identity in embassy buildings; Berlin experience
We should never leave behind the fact that after the “Wall” went down in Berlin, it became a location with various judgments and possibilities in the sphere of design and architecture, especially in the architecture of diplomacy which had and still has a chance to clearly symbolize the particular nation. What could be noticed in this particular work is the fact of a group of nations being able to adapt to openness and contemporary concepts, concretely, what the world/ earth needs for the moment and the way others try to show their power by building fortresses (this might not even be considered power, but the way to be protected from others). It seems to be unfortunate that architecture will always be in the dilemma of what can be done and what should be done. As a result, the analysis of the study object shows the representation of a State, Country or Region in an architectural context, however, it can be noticed that they all go in different directions or better say, try to express different understanding of how should they be represented in this particular environment and what is for them (the Nation) of a greater importance
Risk factors related to reported proactive violence and victimization among kosovar high school students

This study followed standardized methodology, sampling, administration and ethical requirements as those of the ESPAD survey which ensures comparability across European countries. Results from this study support findings from other studies that males had a significantly higher average ran
Contrastive analysis of the dependent subject clause in Albanian and English
During the process of foreign language learning, it often happens that students are influenced by native language rules while formulating their ideas in a foreign language, thus failing to pay due account of the fact that linguistic aspects are different in different languages. In light of this finding, this paper/presentation intends to make a contrastive analysis designed to demonstrate, both from a theoretical and practical perspective, similarities and differences between subject clauses in English and Albanian, from a syntactical point of view. Thefollowing presentation examinessome of the linguistic means used to express a subject clause in both languages; their structural typology (based on the conjugation means); the grammatical agreementsbetween the categories of number and person, both direct or otherwise, that this type of sentence establishes with the predicate of the main clause of a complex sentence; as well as its order in the complex sentence
Bullying Among the 5th Grade Students in Primary School and Preventive Measures
The purpose of this study was to study the prevalence phenomenon of bullying among the 5th grade students of primary school, and the use of measures for its prevention. Research was conducted in two stages. The aim of the first stage was to understand the extent of bullying in these classes, identifying bully students and students, victims of bullying. For data collecting in this phase, were used teachers’ interviews and students’ questionnaires. The aim of second phase was the application of preventive measures, based on the Olweus program for the prevention of bullying in schools. Implementation of preventive measures was conducted at individual and class level. The Results of the first phase showed that bullying is widespread among students in these classes. Teachers and students were able to identify bullying students, respectively, students who are potential victims of bullying. The Results of the preventive measures showed teachers and students greater awareness, more frequent reports of bullying cases, activation of considered “neutral” students and the most frequent responses of students who were considered victims of bullying
USA and Kosovo: From human rights to independence
American intellectual opinion on Kosovo continues to draw significant attention from citizens and policymakers of Kosovo. This opinion continues to serve as a very important indicator for future developments. The Kosovo public’s attention to the American reflections on Kosovo is a result of American pragmatism in the affirmation of freedom-loving values and promotion of democracy in the world. The bloody destruction of the former Yugoslavia produced increased attention on the part of the international community, especially the United States, on the need to prevent another human tragedy that would burden the consciousness of policy makers of the time. For ten years, Albanians peacefully resisted Serbian expansionist nationalism, but their voice, despite sympathies, did not suffice to attract the requisite international attention without having to enter the cycle of ethnic violence. It appeared that a part of the international community had illusions about the longevity of the former federation, in the same way it considered finding a solution to the Kosovo issue within the Serbia- Montenegro remnant, or later, within Serbia. Nations of the former Yugoslav Federation paid their independence price with the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives as a consequence of a leadership guided by fabricated medieval myths and superstitions after which the ideology of Greater Serbia was modeled and on whose vanguard stood the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In this paper, we will present the United States’ official political and academic opinion on American policies on Kosovo before, during, and after the war. We will note a substantial evolution of attitude towards the resolution of the Kosovo issue
Ownership, crucial cause for the crisis of newspapers in Albania
Albanian daily newspapers are in crisis. A part of it is caused by interventions of newspapers’ financiers in their editorial policies in order to realize their influence. Albanian newspapers are funded mainly by business. In this research we will prove the hypothesis that publishers have managed to distort reporting of journalists and that they in fact are the real editorial authorities of daily newspapers in Albania. Result of this intervention is the decreased quality of the press, censorship and self-censorship on journalists. This has led to the decline of public interest for newspapers. This research will be based on interviews with leading directors of newspapers but also newspaper financers, articles that address issues of media ownership in Albania, field research through surveys with journalists, and various reports of media monitoring

Challenges adult education in Kosovo
The 21st century requires serious efforts to rethink, broaden, and fully embrace the notion of adult education. Adult education ought to ensure people’s access to knowledge and learning throughout their lives and thus create possibilities to enjoy cultural, social and economic development. Nowadays, adults face many unique challenges from the development of technology and science to the demands of an increased rapid social life. Therefore, the purpose in writing this paper was to better understand the importance of adult education for all: individuals, organizations, and societies including Kosovo society. This paper considers the adult education challenges that Kosovo faces as a society in transition. Every year, thousands of graduates enter the job market. They face a number of challenges such as trying to adapt to new environments, learning to perform new skills, and working to establish a professional identity and career goals. With the rapid rate of change in today’s workplace, there has come an increasing need to establish innovative ways to prepare employees to meet these challenges. For example, the explosion in the field of knowledge and information technology demands that workers be willing and able to learn new skills and approaches. Employees are required to learn continuously in the workplace to ensure their continued competitiveness. Many organizations have been encouraging further learning, both formal and informal to help both the organization and its members face the rapid rate of change. These types of learning are becoming a major force in the initial and ongoing education of today’s employees1. Therefore, the importance of Adult Education for the overall economic, social, and cultural development of our society has become a priority and a key issue. Key words: adult education, knowledge, learning, workplace, development, societ
The Media Influence on Albanian Society
The focus of this study is the relation of media with the audiences in Albania and Kosova. The study further aims to analyze the relations of television media, as a means of mass-communication with the public, observing above all their tendency to transform television into a control tool, namely to influence the path of creating independent judgments. The talk show type programs present in Tirana media will be treated as shows simulanously serving to initiate the public defense of powerful people. This claim shall be followed by the attempt to answer the questions: is the tendency to win the “public battle” one of imposing “the indisputable truth” to the audiences? What is the media impact on them and what transformation do media undergo as a result of the mediatization of society? What is the relation between them and what is their mutual refusal or impact? Does the Albanian spectacle present the current situation in Albanian society or is it an unrealistic portrayal of made-up images? Beyond this, other TV media from the Albanian environment will be treated, together with their impact in shaping the public opinion. Televisions in Kosova will be treated as being in apathy with regards to spectacular talk-shows, and dominated by political tendencies which predominate the cultural discourse. TV opinionism comprises another characteristic of the “Albanian spectacle” which will be in the focus of this study. Does this opinionism constitute a media mechanism to spectacularize the public, or does it comprise, together with the media itself, an instrument in the hand of “power” to control and construct the society? Special phenomena characteristic for the Albanian media in Albania (and its impact on the society), will be contrasted and compared to special phenomena of the media in Kosova (together with their impact). The relation of television with the public opinion in Albania and the tendency to “spectacularize” the society through presenting public judgments will be in the core of the research; while in Kosova the tendency to develop controlled media through information control shall be looked into closely
Adaptive cognitive dimension and maladaptive behavioral dimension as motivating factors in school achievement
This research examines a multi-dimensional model of student motivation and engagement. Through this model, the levels of development of factors that reflect increased motivation (adaptive dimensions) and those that reflect reduced motivation (maladaptive dimensions) among students are understood. The research was completed using the survey method, with student self-reporting answers in questionnaires on studied variables in their grades in schools. Research age group for this study was 200 students of Grades 10, 11 and 12 from public upper secondary school “Sami Frashëri” and students of private upper secondary school “Luarasi” in Prishtina. Selection of this sample utilized convenience method. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 statistical package for social sciences. The study found that adaptive cognitive dimension has positive effects on student school achievement and that maladaptive behavioral dimension has negative effects. The research also found that these two factors are significant in student achievement for this age group. The research may serve as a good orientation base for explaining the complex nature of relations of various factors with school achievement. The purpose of this research is to understand that both motivational factors (protecting factors) and demotivating factors (risk factors) are important for student school achievement. Another purpose is to understand levels of development of factors that reflect increased motivation and those that reflect reduced motivation
