Evaluation of the Validity and Reliability of NeuroSkin’s Wearable Sensor Gait Analysis Device in Healthy Individuals

    No full text
Gait analysis plays a crucial role in assessing and monitoring the progress of individuals undergoing rehabilitation. This preliminary validation study aims to compare the performance of a new wearable system, NeuroSkin®, equipped with embedded sensors (inertial measurement unit and pressure sensors), with the non-wearable gold standard, GAITRite®, in assessing spatio-temporal parameters during gait. Data was collected from nine healthy participants wearing the NeuroSkin while walking on the GAITRite walkway. Temporal parameters were calculated using the pressure sensors of the NeuroSkin® to detect heel strike (HS) and toe off (TO) on both sides. Distances were calculated using vertical hip acceleration with an inverted pendulum method. We found that the level of agreement between NeuroSkin® and GAITRite® measures was excellent for speed, cadence, as well as length and duration of stride and step (lower bound of intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) > 0.95), and moderate to excellent for stance and swing durations (ICC > 0.5). These levels of agreement are comparable to the known test–retest reliability of GAITRite® measures. These results demonstrate the potential of NeuroSkin® as an embedded gait assessment system for healthy subjects. As this study was conducted exclusively in healthy adults, the results are not directly generalizable to clinical populations. Thus, future studies are needed to investigate its use in patients

Precedent names in Serbian culture and their reflections on the communicative function of language

This paper explores three precedent names in Serbian culture ‒ Gavrilo Princip, Dragoljub Mihailović, and Josip Broz Tito ‒ through the lens of language’s communicative function. It’s important to note that precedent names can't be fully understood outside the context of precedent statements and texts. For that reason, the core topic of this paper is the broader phenomenon of precedent in language and culture. Since most theoretical literature on this subject comes from Russian linguistics—where the precedent phenomenon was among the earliest to be studied—our research draws primarily on Russian-language sources, including academic papers, dissertations, and monographs. The findings suggest that precedent names occupy a special place in a nation’s cultural memory, and that specific mechanisms help embed them in the collective consciousness of a cultural identity. We conclude that understanding the symbolic and iconic status of these figures is key to studying the Serbian language and culture, both in domestic and international contexts

The paper will present Christmas ritual processions among Serbs in the villages of the Romanian part of Banat. Available literature on this type of customary practice in Serbian villages in Romania, as well as material collected by the research team of The Institute of Ethnography SASA in the period from 2016 to 2024, as part of the project Researching the Culture and History of the Serbs in Romania, organized by the Center for scientific research on the culture of Serbs in Romania at the Association of Serbs in Romania (Timisoara) represent the basic sources in processing the topic. The work will be designed in such a way that within each ritual procession its basic elements are observed, as well as to point out the differences that occur within the different regional entities in the Romanian Banat. The aim of the work is to show the importance of these processions, as well as to point out their antiquity, but also their (un)sustainability within the Christmas customary practice.DOI часописа: https://doi.org/10.46630/ish.11.202

In his rich and varied output, listeners can discover stories composed as sound collages referring to social and historical circumstances leading to the Yugoslav wars; the animals and the nature of the Balkans; specific sites, such as cities, caves, islands and tunnels across the Peninsula, as well as its music and cultural traditions.9th International Musicological Conference of the IMS-RASMB, 3-5 September 2025

Τὸ κοινὸν καὶ τὸ ἡμέτερον – Three Apologiae of Gennadios Scholarios

    No full text
Gennadios Scholarios, a late Byzantine intellectual and the first Ecumenical patriarch under Ottoman rule, composed three texts after the fall of Constantinople, which are unified by both apologetic themes and sporadically appearing autobiographical digressions. These texts are known in scholarship as the Pastoral Letter, the Lamentation, and the Apologia for Silence. In addition to their apologetic–autobiographical discourse, all three works are characterized by Scholarios’ linking of his personal life to the fate of the Byzantine capital. While scholars have so far primarily approached these writings in search of autobiographical data to reconstruct Scholarios’ biography, the main aim of this paper is to examine and analyze them within the context of late Byzantine apology as a literary model. Synergistic effect and the mechanism of co-roasting spent lithium-ion batteries and nickel matte for metal recovery

    No full text
Recovering valuable metals from spent LIBs is crucial for sustainable resource utilization and environmental protection. This study proposes an innovative co-roasting process using high-grade nickel matte as a reducing and sulfating agent to achieve efficient selective lithium extraction and simultaneous metal recovery. Through co-roasting at 843 °C, lithium converts to water-soluble Li2SO4, while transition metals (Ni, Co, Mn) form insoluble oxides. Thermodynamic analysis and in situ characterization revealed that SO2 generated from the oxidative decomposition of Ni3S2 drives the selective sulfation of lithium, followed by thermal decomposition of transition metal sulfates at elevated temperatures. Water leaching experiments demonstrated exceptional lithium recovery (99.98 %) with minimal co-dissolution of other metals (<0.1 %), enabling subsequent acid leaching for residual metal recovery. This approach not only simplifies lithium extraction but also integrates the refining of high-grade nickel matte, offering a sustainable pathway for urban resource recycling and primary mineral utilization, with significant industrial potential.Peer-reviewed manuscript: [https://hdl.handle.net/21.15107/rcub_dais_18583

New reality and optimality of Serbian energy and climate policy

    No full text
Governance of energy development today is a complex process with very limited room for maneuver for finding optimal solutions. These solutions are influenced by climate change, natural energy resources, available technologies, economic profitability of projects, but also the goals set in the path of energy decarbonization. In accordance with the new reality, it is necessary to set an optimization task within integral energy system (electricity, heat, transport, industry) and to look at the new optimality. A critical review of existing energy and climate policy documents should be the basis for comparison with optimal scenarios

STATUS OF THE SERBIAN LANGUAGE IN THE DEBATE ON RENAMING THE SASA DICTIONARY OF THE SERBO-CROATIAN LITERARY AND VERNACULAR LANGUAGE (1992–2022)

    No full text
The paper addresses the status of the Serbian language as a linguistic term within the debate over renaming the Dictionary of the Serbo-Croatian Literary and Vernacular Language of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts over a three-decade period, from 1992 to 2022. The debate about changing the dictionary’s name from the Dictionary of the Serbo-Croatian Literary and Vernacular Language to Dictionary of the Serbian Literary and Vernacular Language is examined from two perspectives: structural- analytical, which views Serbian and Croatian language variants as parts of the Serbo- Croatian (meta)standard, and structural-genetic, which incorporates the historical development of the Serbian language in the definition of its variants in the second half of the 20th century. The paper, as a case study, outlines the historical stages of the debate on renaming the SASA Dictionary, determining in each phase the discursive status of the Serbian language as a (non)scientific concept within one framework or the other. The analysis of the concepts of the Serbian and Serbo-Croatian literary languages in this context demonstrates that, within the debate over renaming the SASA Dictionary, these concepts have undergone various phases of scientific reinterpretation and (self) determination

Imagining Interwar Sound and Space: Film Music and Cultural Memory in the Post-Yugoslav Context

    No full text
In recent decades, the interwar period has emerged as a fertile ground for artistic imagination, inspiring a growing body of works across literature, visual arts, and film. Global and regional cinema plays a compelling role in reconstructing and reinterpreting this historical era. Given the centrality of music to everyday life in the interwar years, it naturally becomes an important element in shaping cinematic representations of the past. This article examines how music in Dragan Bjelogrlić’s films Montevideo, God Bless You! (2010) and See You in Montevideo (2014) contributes to the evocation of life in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia at the very juncture of the 1920s and 1930s. By focusing on the deployment of musical genres and their stylistic connotations, the study situates the soundtrack at the intersection of film music and everyday life studies, collective identity, cultural memory theory, thanatopolitics and post-Yugoslav cultural discourse. Rather than merely treating music as a decorative or atmospheric element, the paper explores how sound actively constructs historical imagination, reinforces collective identity, and shapes affective engagement with the past
