Design and Construction of Fan and Bulb Automation System
Abstract. The automation system described in this project leverages the power of Bluetooth wireless
communication to control the bulb and fan. The system utilize readily available components such as Arduino
Uno, HC-05 Bluetooth module, and 4-channel relay module, it provides a cost-effective solution for creating
a smart environment. The Arduino Uno acts as the central controller, receiving commands wirelessly via the
Bluetooth module and subsequently controlling the power supply to connect devices through the relay module.
This allows users to remotely turn on or off devices such as bulbs and fans, providing convenience and energy
efficiency. The measured response times for turning on/off the fan and bulb in the automation system were
found to be 15.47 μs for turning on the fan, 15.20 μs for turning off the fan, and 16.27 μs for turning on/off
the bulb. These results indicate that the system is highly efficient and reliable in controlling the devices. Future
enhancements can include the implementation of security measures to protect against unauthorized access and
integration with other smart devices. The Bluetooth automation system showcases the potential for creating
affordable and customizable automation solutions using easily accessible component
EFFECT OF ENTREPRENURIAL SELF-EFFICACY ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES IN LAGOS STATE.
One of the crucial questions that is usually asked in business and career is ‘do I believe I can do this?’ as an individual who wants to advance in your career, you have to believe that your skills and hard work will get you there. Self-efficacy is about the extent and individual believes in his capability, and in entrepreneurship, it is important to believe in such cause. The study looks at how these factors affect some of the most important performance indicators for SMEs, such growth, profitability, product quality, and marketing capability.
127 SMEs participated in a cross-sectional survey that provided the study's major source of data. Because the population was small, a sample of the total population was taken. A structured questionnaire survey was used to gather data, and it was addressed to SMEs. When compared to comparable studies and research projects carried out in developing nations and the Nigerian environment, the survey's 94.49% response rate was deemed suitable for the study's objectives. By using the Structural Equation Model-Smart-PLS research discovered each of the variables significantly affects the others. Entrepreneurs should focus their efforts on improving functional indicators to demonstrate that how their experiences in terms of business and life perspectives affects both their business performance
GREEN SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF TITANIUM DIOXIDE-SILICA COMPOSITE ELECTRODE FOR DYE-SENSITIZED SOLAR CELL
The adverse effects of climate change have necessitated the need for a reduction in traditional synthetic chemicals used for synthesizing useful materials which have been found to impact the environment negatively. Biosynthesis of Titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been gaining scientific attention recently due to its environmentally friendly nature. The unique properties of TiO2 have made it a suitable material for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) electrodes. However, about 4% of solar irradiation under the ultraviolent range gets absorbed due to the large bandgap of TiO2. Since electron-hole pairs can occur for TiO2 at UV light, it is important to extend the light absorption of TiO2 to the visible light by modifying TiO2 with silica. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) was successfully synthesized using aloe vera plant extract at varying concentrations (50, 70, and 100 ml). The silica used for the TiO2-silica composite was produced from rice husk. The synthesised materials were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) Surface Area. The electrochemical method was used to examine the photoactivity of TiO2 and TiO2-silica composite under light and dark conditions. The band gap of as-synthesized TiO2 containing 50, 70, and 100 ml of aloe vera extract was found to be 3.96 eV, 3.99 eV and 3.96 eV respectively. The addition of silica reduced the band gap of TiO2 from 3.96 eV to 3.0 eV. The XRD analysis revealed a pure tetragonal anatase phase of TiO2. The FTIR showed that the absorbance peak at 792.72 cm-1 corresponded to the Ti-O-Ti bond of anatase TiO2 while the Si-O-Si bond for silica was found at 797.7 cm-1. The SEM image shows the needle-like shape of as-synthesized TiO2. The XRF results showed that over 80 wt.% TiO2 was produced, and 94 wt.% of silica was derived from rice husk. The BET surface area of as-synthesized mesoporous TiO2 was found to be 214.34 m2/g while that of silica was 222.83 m2/g. The large surface area obtained for TiO2, and silica will enable the material to absorb photons effectively which would enhance the efficiency of the electrode. The electrochemical results revealed that the TiO2 produced is photoactive. The results obtained suggested that silica has the potential to be used as a solar cell electrode when incorporated with TiO2. This research reveals that aloe vera plant and silica from unutilized rice husk could be explored for energy sustainability which align with the Sustainable Development Goal for affordable and clean energy
ACOUSTIC STRATEGIES AND USER SATISFACTION IN THE DESIGN OF A CONVENTION CENTRE IN SANGOTEDO, LAGOS.
Convention centres serve as hubs for a wide range of events, including seminars, lectures, and
exhibitions, attracting individuals from around the globe. These centres cater to a large number of
people per given time and rely on optimum acoustics to be able to effectively carry out their
primary function, thus understanding the intricate relationship between acoustics and user
satisfaction in these spaces is essential. To achieve this, the research investigated the influence of
acoustic strategies on user satisfaction in convention centres in Lagos State, Nigeria. This was with
a view to identify those strategies that promote user satisfaction and implement them in the design
of a convention centre in Lagos, Nigeria. A mixed-method approach was adopted in the course of
this research. An extensive literature review, building observations and surveys with
questionnaires were carried out to gather data. The study found that a variety of acoustic design
strategies were implemented in existing convention centres and these specific acoustic strategies
significantly impact user satisfaction. These strategies include ceilings baffles and banners,
vegetation as a noise barrier, furniture with fabric upholstery, and the incorporation of insulation
and absorption materials like cotton fibre, foam glass, and foam plastic. The aforementioned
strategies were not always integrated into the initial design phase. Additionally, the strategies were
not consistently applied throughout the facilities. This research offers valuable insights for design
professionals and convention centre stakeholders seeking to enhance the acoustic environment
within these facilities. By understanding the relationship between acoustics and user satisfaction,
the stakeholders involved can make informed decisions that enhance the satisfaction of users and
have better performing convention centres
THE POLITICAL ENGAGEMENTS OF FRANCE IN THE DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE IN MALI
France’s political engagements in Mali, stemming from historical colonial ties and recent military interventions, have raised questions about their influence on the democratic governance of Mali. Despite efforts to stabilise the region, Mali continues to experience political instability, corruption, and challenges in establishing robust democratic institutions. This study aims to investigate the effect of France's political engagements on Mali's democratic governance. It seeks to understand how French interventions have shaped Mali's electoral processes, political participation, and human rights, and how these engagements have influenced the country's political stability and governance structures. Grounded in dependency theory, the study examines how historical and ongoing economic and political relationships between developed and developing countries perpetuate inequality and dependency. A cross-sectional research design was adopted, focusing on document analysis. This method involved a systematic review of government reports, historical records, media articles, scholarly works and NGO reports to gain comprehensive insights into the historical, political, and social dimensions of France’s influence on Mali's governance. The study also included interviews with key stakeholders and experts on Franco-Malian relations. The analysis reveals that France's political engagements, particularly the military intervention in 2013, have had a complex effect on Mali's democratic governance. While the intervention helped to curb immediate security threats, it did not address deep-seated issues such as systemic corruption, weak institutional frameworks, and the lack of accountability. Moreover, the intervention has inadvertently strengthened authoritarian elements within the Malian leadership, thereby undermining democratic processes and exacerbating socio-political divisions. France's political engagements in Mali, while beneficial in addressing short-term security concerns, have not significantly contributed to the enhancement of democratic governance. The persistent influence of France has often undermined Mali’s sovereignty and democratic processes, leading to increased political instability and fragmentation. The historical context of neo-colonialism and international clientelism continues to shape the political landscape of Mali. To promote sustainable democratic governance in Mali, it is crucial to minimize foreign interference and focus on strengthening internal political and institutional frameworks. International stakeholders should support initiatives that foster inclusive governance, transparency, and human rights. Malian leaders must prioritise addressing internal divisions and systemic issues to build a more stable and democratic political environment. Enhanced local ownership of governance processes is essential for achieving long-term political stability and development
ANALYZING THE DETERMINANTS OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IN ECOMMERCE: A TEXT-MINING APPROACH USING ONLINE REVIEWS
The growth of e-commerce has led to a shift in the way customers shop, making online
shopping more convenient and accessible for consumers worldwide. With the increasing
importance of providing excellent customer experiences, customer satisfaction has
become a crucial factor for businesses to consider. Online reviews and feedback have
become a major outlet for customers to express their opinions on certain products and
services. This study investigated the determinants of customer satisfaction in the ecommerce
industry through the application of text-mining techniques to online customer
reviews. The study examined the factors that affect customer satisfaction, including
customer interests, product availability, product quality, payment methods, shipping
services, and partnerships. The study used a text-mining approach to analyze online
customer reviews and extract relevant information from them. The data collected was
analyzed using statistical methods to identify the key factors that influence customer
satisfaction. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for businesses to
improve their customer experience and increase customer satisfaction. By understanding
the factors that influence customer satisfaction, businesses can fine-tune their strategies
and improve their products and services to meet the needs and expectations of customers.

IMPLEMENTATION OF PASSIVE DESIGN STRATEGIES IN THE DESIGN OF A BEVERAGE FACTORY IN OTA, OGUN STATE
Global energy use and greenhouse gas emissions are considerably influenced by the beverage
industrial sector. Energy-intensive processes including heating, cooling, and refrigeration are
fundamental necessities during the manufacture of beverages in factories. It is therefore
important that a beverage factory is designed to lessen its adverse effect on the climate. One of
the ways to achieve this is through the use of passive design strategies. With improved indoor
environment quality, passive design concept seeks to use less energy, operate more efficiently,
and leave a smaller carbon impact. Healthy building designs are more important nowadays for
improving sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility within the
beverage manufacturing business as the globe pushes for a more sustainable environment.
Thus, the aim of this study is to examine passive design strategies for achieving healthy and
safe work environment with a view to apply lessons learnt in the design of a beverage factory
in Ogun State, Nigeria. The objectives of the study include to: determine passive design
strategies for achieving healthy and safe work environment; investigate how passive design
strategies have been implemented in selected beverage factories; examine the extent to which
workers are satisfied with passive design strategies adopted in selected beverage factories in
Nigeria; and apply passive design strategies in the design of a beverage factory in Ogun State,
Nigeria towards achieving healthy and safe work environment. The research is case study that
adopted a mixed-method approach. This involved three selected beverage factories in Nigeria
and three foreign case studies. Qualitative data were gathered from relevant literature and the
case studies, and content analysed. Whereas, quantitative data were collected through a survey
approach from two hundred and sixty-seven respondents in Nigeria. Statistical Product and
Service Solutions software was used to analyse quantitative data. The results were presented
with tables, figures, plates, architectural drawings, three-dimensional animation and a physical
model. The study centred on natural ventilation and natural lighting found to be key passive
design strategies for achieving healthy and safe work environment. The study contributes to
the growth in the body of knowledge on sustainable design in industrial settings, offering useful
ideas for a future where the production of beverages is more environmentally sensitive and
effective, through the development of a passive design strategy-based architectural design
proposal of a beverage industry in Ogun State, Nigeria. The study promotes Sustainable

Cracking the code: How procedural justice drives employee engagement in Nigerian banks
This study investigates the influence of procedural justice on many aspects of employee engagement including affective,
behavioral, cognitive and physical engagement specifically within the banking business in Nigeria. The sector has
consistently faced difficulties in maintaining employee engagement with major issues such as high rates of absenteeism and
turnover. Implementing an effective employee engagement strategy can help in retaining and developing a team that is
prepared for the future, thereby reducing absenteeism and turnover.
This study employed survey methodology and used stratified sampling techniques to choose participants. We collected the
necessary data from primary sources. The study considered 209 of the 231 distributed questionnaires legitimate and
appropriate.
The results indicate that how employees perceive the fairness of procedures in the chosen bank has a substantial impact on
their high levels of emotional, cognitive, physical and behavioral involvement. This demonstrates that ensuring fair
treatment when creating clear and reliable policies and processes results in increased employee engagement.
Banks should create an environment that promotes fairness by ensuring transparency and reliability in all rules and
procedures to enhance overall satisfaction among workers and performance. It is possible to reduce high rates of absence
and turnover resulting in a more stable and productive workforce by using these measures. This study highlights the
significance of procedural justice in attaining greater employee engagement and offers significant insights for banks
seeking to enhance their staff retention efforts
Evaluation of the engineering properties of asphaltic concrete composite produced from recycled asphalt pavement and polyethylene plastic
This study investigated the suitability of recycled asphalt pavement and polyethylene wastes
as coarse aggregate in asphaltic concrete by evaluating the impact of the use of polyethylene
polymer wastes and recycled asphalt pavement composite as aggregates on the physical
and mechanical properties of the asphaltic concrete. The physical characteristics of the
aggregate and bitumen were determined using relevant parametric tests. Recycled asphalt
pavement was used to make asphaltic concrete samples using LDPE at 5%, 10%, 15%,
RAP at 5% and HDPE at 5%, 10%, 15%, and a mixture of LDPE + HDPE at 5+5%, 7.5
+7.5% and 10+10% RAP at 5% as additives. Marshall Stability test was conducted to
assess the mechanical strength of the asphaltic concrete, and the results included information
on the aggregate’s stability, flow, density, voids filled with bitumen, voids filled with air,
and voids in mineral aggregate. In addition, the surface and crystal structure of the aggregates
was studied by carrying out a microscopic examination with a Scanning Electron
Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD). The results obtained from this study demonstrated
that RAP, HDPE & LDPE are viable conventional aggregate substitute for asphalt
concrete production
