This paper introduces a process that aims to empower students as responsible global citizens by incorporating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability into education through community-engaged learning. Established through a collaboration between a university lecturer and the Corvinus Science Shop, a university center for community engagement, this initiative evolved from nine semesters of BA-level experience with multiple community partners to an MA-level course that now also includes corporate support. This partnership enriches students’ ability to CSR project that can be implemented by the community partner, fostering skill development and encouraging positive attitudinal shifts toward complex societal issues. The course’s alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and continuous feedback loops ensure lasting impact and relevance to global sustainability

Electric vehicle adoption in Generation Z: Drivers of Hungarian higher education students' attitude

    Get PDF
The transition to electric vehicles has become an urgent priority due to their lower environmental impact. The automotive industry has already developed solutions for zero-emission vehicles to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, this transition heavily depends on the evolution of consumer demand. This paper focuses on Generation Z, as they will soon become a determining consumer segment in the automotive market. Our research aims to analyze Generation Z’s attitude toward electric vehicles. Their attitude provides valuable insights for industry leaders regarding future consumer behavior. We analyzed the relationship between selected adoption factors (environmental concern, perceived risk, ease of use, and enjoyment) and Generation Z’s attitude toward electric vehicles (measured by perceived relative advantage). Our research is based on data from Hungarian Generation Z respondents, and our findings conclude that environmental concern is less relevant than enjoyment and ease of use, which are the most impactful factors

The Irresistible Allure of Charismatic Leaders? Populism, Social Identity, and Polarisation

    No full text
This article examines the complex interplay between populism, social identity, and charisma attribution in leader–follower relationships. Drawing on a survey conducted in Hungary during the 2022 election, we investigate how populist attitudes and partisan identity shape citizens’ perceptions of leaders, specifically assessing the charismatic appeal of Viktor Orbán and Péter Márki-Zay, and charisma attribution across three levels: a general need for charismatic leadership, recognition of specific charismatic behaviours, and emotional attachment. We found that while populist attitudes drive an overarching idealisation of leadership, partisan identity more directly influences the perception of leaders’ charismatic qualities and emotional connections to them. Contrary to prevailing assumptions, our findings reveal that populist attitudes do not have a direct effect on (leader) affective polarisation, while the idealisation of leadership significantly increases it. A key observation here is that while partisanship influences both positive and negative perceptions of charisma, identity strength only enhances emotional attachment in the positive direction. It has no moderating effect on negative perceptions, suggesting that rejection of the out-group leader is a foundational aspect of group membership. These dynamics underscore the role of populism and identity politics in fostering political divisions, suggesting that identity-based attachments are crucial for understanding the emotional resonance between charismatic leaders and their followers. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on the relationship between charismatic leadership and populism, identity, and polarisation, emphasising the significance of followers’ attitudes in political dynamics

    Az influenszermarketing szerepe az egészségtudatosságban

    Get PDF

    Get PDF

Policy relevant lessons from research on renewable energy auctions

    Get PDF
Renewable energy auctions have emerged globally as a primary tool for promoting electricity from renewable energy sources (RES-E) by awarding operational support to projects that bid the lowest level of required support. While their widespread adoption reflects perceived efficiency advantages over other support mechanisms, such as administratively-set tariffs, the effectiveness of RES-E auctions in meeting policy objectives is highly sensitive to specific design elements. This paper synthesizes policy-relevant insights from extensive research in the EU- funded AURES II project, which has analysed renewable energy auctions in diverse contexts with a focus on European countries. Key findings from the AURES II project address how auction design influences outcomes across multiple criteria, such as cost-effectiveness and project realisation rates. The paper highlights both successes and challenges in auction implementation, emphasizing the common trade-offs between policy objectives. Results underscore that well-designed auctions can promote RES-E efficiently, but also caution that suboptimal design can lead to unintended outcomes. Based on these findings, the paper offers forward-looking recommendations to guide policymakers in optimizing auction design to balance policy goals and enhance renewable energy deployment

Political positioning of Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) discourse – The loss of green objectives

Although decarbonisation and sustainability goals are marked in the post-COVID-19 and polycrisis recovery efforts of all European Union Member States, the communication space around the issue is still fluid. In this paper, we use natural language processing and text-mining methods to map key EU-level actors’ discourse regarding green transition and the recovery fund. We collect the social media posts of European Parliament members, key representatives of national governments, and relevant institutes (like European Commission Directorate-Generals) from 2019 to 2023. We use Large Language Model-based classification and topic modelling to identify the main discourse frames, present the dynamics of the issue evolving, and map how different actors participate in the debate. Our approach makes it possible to understand how the energy and climate policy and recovery dialogue were developing within the European political space. Our results show that the green transition theme in the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) was almost entirely lost by 2021 after its initial low profile. It has given way to purely political and legal debates, and raising funds from the Member States has also become central to the RRF theme. The political parties, as were ENVIs and DGs on the policy communication levels, were responsible for this. The RRF has been placed in the public space not by focusing on and further promoting the green transition but by making it the arena for economic recovery and political debates

Oral cancer in Hungary : an epidemiological profile (2015–2019)

    Get PDF
Objectives: Hungary is among countries with the highest standardised rate oral and mouth cancers. This first national analysis aimed to quantify age-standardized oral cancer incidence in Hungary from 2015 to 2019 by sex and age, determine the median interval from diagnosis to death, and evaluate comorbidity prevalence and its prognostic impact. Methods: We used real-world data from the Hungarian National Health Insurance Fund database. Adjusted, standardised incidence- and hospital readmission rates were calculated; time between diagnosis and death and effect of comorbidities coexisting with oral cancer were analysed. Results: Generally, incidence and hospitalisation rates decreased in the studied period, for males and older age group both rates were higher. From year 2017 for incidence rates significant differences were found between a particular region and the other regions; and hospitalisation rates differed significantly for three regions from other regions. Almost half (46.3%) of the patients died within a year after diagnosis, mortality rates were 31.8% for males and 14.5% for females. Existence of oral cancer indicated 5.20 (95% confidence interval, 5.03,5.38), 5.84 (95% confidence interval, 5.64,6.04) odd ratios for mortality by two models. Number and relative risk of comorbidities were higher among patients diagnosed with oral cancer than in the control population. Conclusions: The study highlighted progress in reducing oral cancer incidence rates in Hungary, however significant challenges remain in reducing mortality rates and improving survival within the first year of diagnosis. The study also showed oral cancer a serious burden in the country, especially for males
