From Pinochet to Boric: Chile’s Neoliberal Paradox and Its Unraveling
T he Chile Project investigates what the author describes as “Chile’s paradox”: the nation’s intricate relationship with the neoliberal economic and political framework. The study begins by tracing the adoption of neoliberal policies during Augusto Pinochet’s regime and their subsequent evolution under democratic administrations, culminating in the 2019 insurrection and the 2021 election of President Gabriel Boric, committed to dismantling those neoliberal policies, as these events reflect widespread dissatisfaction with the neoliberal model
The Persistence of Memory : Evidence that Perceptions of Support Parties Update Gradually
Previous research has demonstrated that citizens use heuristics in their ideological perceptions of the placement of governing partners. Yet what about the perceptions after the government termination from non-government support parties? To what extent is updating evident and is there heterogeneity in the response? We examine these questions using a Spanish Survey Panel over 6 months in 2018–2019 after the termination of the Rajoy II government. We demonstrate that updating prior beliefs tend to be conservative, but that greater and stronger informational signals can lead respondents to alter their perceptions. Significant updating can be found with time, among those more politically knowledgeable, and in regions not governed by the previously nationally cooperating partners. Our results have implications for those interested in party perceptions and consequences of government cooperation – in particular supporting party relationships
Forecasting cause-of-death mortality with single- and multi-population models in Hungary
The aim of this study is to analyze and forecast cause-specific mortality Lee–Carter model family. The stochastic mortality models were fitted to time series from1970to 2021 by sex, main cause of death and age 60 and over. We fitted single and multi-population models that differed in their assumptions about the distribution of deaths, the number of mortality indices describing the trend in mortality change, and the age-varying coefficient(s). The use of the dynamic time-warping algorithm to cluster the period effects of the single-population models and to build multi-population models on this basis is a new approach. The clustering of mortality indices by cause of death appeared to be different for men and women, reflecting the different lifestyles of the sexes. For each model and each main cause of death, we made a projection by sex up to 2050. The reduced Plat model with three mortality indices was found to be the best predictive model, and its multi-population version also performed well for some causes of death

Miről írnak a budapesti fine dining éttermek vendégei?
A BERTopic a Sentence-BERT beágyazásokat kihasználva szemantikailag koherensebb témaazonosítást kínál.
A Cooperative Framework Incorporating the Concerns of Both Migrant-Destination and Migrant-Origin Countries into Migration Policymaking
Normative theories about the justice of policies to control international migration tend to come from either the standpoint of the migrant-destination country or the migrant-origin country. I show how three influential normative theorists of migration—Abizadeh, Carens, and Walzer—in formulating their respectively democratic, liberal, and communitarian visions of a just migration policy never incorporate the concerns of different groups within migrant-origin countries. Since empirical research shows migration can have both heterogeneous positive and negative impacts on migrant-origin and migrant-destination countries, normative theories about just migration policy would benefit from shifting away from either focusing on the impacts of migration only on migrant-destination countries or only on migrant-origin countries toward assessing their impact on both. I then formulate a theoretical framework-institution that could better incorporate the concerns of different groups with different positionalities within migrant-origin countries and migrant-destination countries toward the impact of international migration. This framework would allow mini-publics to elect representatives of groups with distinct interests within migrant-origin and migrant-destination countries. Such representatives would then engage in an intersubjective deliberative dialogue to develop a more just migration policy with a more international orientation, with each group’s level of influence moderated by the amount of international inequality between countries and the amount of harm caused by one country toward another
The effect of regulatory requirements on market liquidity : ESG promotion as a special case
Liquidity is a key consideration in financial markets, especially in times of financial crises. For this reason, regulatory attention to and measures in this field have been on the rise for the past several years. As a matter of fact, regulations aiming at ensuring funding liquidity or, in general, reducing certain risky positions have the side effect of reducing market liquidity. To understand this effect, we extend a standard general equilibrium model with transaction costs of trading, endogenous market liquidity, and the modeling of regulation. We prove that both funding liquidity regulation in general and divesting bad ESG assets, in particular, reduce market liquidity
A XXI. század gyorsan változó világában divattá vált a tevékenységek projektként való szervezése, értelmezése.
