Objectives: Conscious leadership is an emerging field in leadership theory that focuses on the integration of spiritual, emotional, and physical intelligence, as well as sustainability and ecological concerns. This article presents a literature review aiming to establish a solid foundation for understanding conscious leadership and to contribute to theory development in this area. The research question asked was if a conscious leadership style will be able to lead organisations in the Fifth Industrial Revolution.   Theoretical Frameworks: The study examines the current debates among scholars regarding the concept of conscious leadership and explores its possible roots in Heidegger's philosophical understanding of Dasein and Viktor Frankl's logotherapy. Additionally, the role of Ubuntu in the African context is investigated.   Methodology: The methodology employed for the literature review is the integrative approach, which involves synthesising research findings on a meta-level to advance knowledge and theory development. This approach is suitable when research questions require a creative collection of data.   Results: The findings of this article contribute to the conceptualisation of conscious leadership theory and provide insights into the principles and characteristics of conscious leaders.   Research Implications: The results of this research can be used to enhance leadership studies and to enrich current leadership frameworks and theories.   Value: The originality of this article lies in its combination of the Ubuntu philosophy with the philosophies of people such as Heidegger and Victor Frankl. This has never before been done. This is also a first attempt to provide a philosophical foundation for conscious leadership, which is a relatively new addition to the bouquet of leadership styles

Objective: Polygyny is an Islamic practice that allows Muslim men to marry up to four under special conditions and circumstances. This paper specifically seeks to address the following objectives: a. give a glimpse into the families' lives in a polygynous marriage; b. discuss the impact of polygyny among the Mëranaw families in Marawi City; c. enumerate some pros and cons of polygyny among the families involved.   Theoretical Framework: This study is grounded on Islamic principles based on Qur’an and Hadith and cultural norms surrounding polygyny.   Method: This study used qualitative research approach that is narrative in design. For the raw data used in this study, twenty (20) key informants – spouses, wives, and children – who were part of polygynous families were personally interviewed. Secondary sources such as articles and books were also used to support the primary source.   Results and Discussion: The data reveal that several scenarios have demonstrated that polygyny is possible within a family and that members can coexist peacefully, based on the three perspectives of wives, husbands, and children. Polygyny undoubtedly has disadvantages, just like any other type of relationship and, in the wrong hands, can cause a family to disintegrate. Nevertheless, others see polygyny as a solution to their problems with husbands' reproductive needs and wives' infertility—as well as seeking for companionship.   Research Implications: This study contributes to the understanding of polygyny in the context of Mëranaw families in Marawi City, providing insights for policymakers, researchers, individuals contemplating polygynous marriage.   Originality/Value: By offering a nuanced and multifaceted exploration of polygyny, this research highlights the diverse experiences and complexities inherent in polygynous families

MODELING THE EURO/DOLLAR EXCHANGE RATE USING EXTREME VALUE THEORY

Objective: This study examines the application of Extreme Value Theory (EVT) in economics to understand and manage rare, high-impact events that affect financial markets and economic stability.   Theoretical framework: EVT provides a statistical foundation for modeling extreme variations in financial data, making it an essential tool for risk assessment and economic decision-making. By estimating the probability of extreme fluctuations, EVT enhances the understanding of financial risk exposure.   Method: We analyze daily Eurodollar exchange rate data from January 1, 1999, to March 22, 2024, obtained from Yahoo Finance, totaling approximately 6,580 observations. The monthly maximum values were extracted and modeled using the Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distribution.   Results and Discussion: The"Return Level Plot" derived from the GEV model highlights potential changes in extreme values of the Eurodollar exchange rate over time. The findings provide valuable insights into financial risk exposure and potential economic fluctuations. The estimated parameters for the GEV distribution are: location parameter (1.15), scale parameter (0.15), and shape parameter (-0.27). To ensure the robustness of results, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was applied, confirming the goodness-of-fit of the GEV model.   Research Implications: This study contributes to financial risk management by offering a methodological approach to modeling extreme exchange rate fluctuations. It assists policymakers and financial analysts in preparing for and mitigating risks associated with extreme currency movements.   Originality/value: This research provides empirical evidence supporting the use of EVT in financial market analysis. It emphasizes the relevance of EVT in risk management and economic decision-making by demonstrating its effectiveness in modeling extreme variations in exchange rates
