No full textAs the power and influence of the “thieves-in-law” in Georgia weakened in an offensive against them that began in 2006, their parallel legal system lost some of its legitimacy in the face of the state legal system. This article, based on an ethnographic fieldwork conducted with women linked to the “world of thieves”, explores their discourses and rhetorical strategies concerning the “law” of “thieves”. It shows that beyond the partisan feelings of belonging that are expressed through claims of personal moral and qualities, their frames of reference reveal proper legal conceptions that interact and compete with the laws of the state.As the power and influence of the “thieves-in-law” in Georgia weakened in an offensive against them that began in 2006, their parallel legal system lost some of its legitimacy in the face of the state legal system. Cet article, en se fondant sur un terrain ethnographique mené auprès de femmes liées au « monde des voleurs », explore leurs discours et leurs stratégies rhétoriques concernant la « loi » des « voleurs ». Au-delà de sentiments d’appartenance partisanes qui s’expriment à travers la proclamation de l’existence d’une morale et de qualités personnelles, leur système de pensée révèle des conceptions juridiques en propre qui dialoguent et se présentent en concurrence aux lois de l’État

Get PDFAm Beispiel von Überlieferungsbildung und Bewertung im Staatsarchiv des Kantons Waadt untersucht dieser Artikel die Verbindung zwischen theoretischer Literatur und Praxis. Die Bewertung in den ACV wird zunächst in einen breiteren archivischen, theoretischen, normativen und methodologischen Kontext gestellt. Problematische Elemente werden hinterfragt, wie etwa die Rollenverteilung bei der Bewertung zwischen Archivaren (historischer Wert) und Vertretern der Verwaltung (juristisch-administrativer Wert). Der zweite Teil des Artikels konzentriert sich auf die Bewertungspraxis in den ACV und weist auf einen Mangel an «Transparenz» hin, trotz der Bemühungen, den Entscheidungsprozess weniger zufällig zu gestalten. Der Artikel schliesst mit der Vorstellung von Arbeitsinstrumenten, die die Sichtbarkeit und Reflexivität, d.h. die Reflexion über Bewertung und die Selbstwahrnehmung des eigenen Handelns, verbessern sollen.À travers l’analyse de l’évaluation aux Archives cantonales vaudoises, cet article questionne le lien entre production théorique et pratique. L’évaluation des ACV est d’abord replacée dans un contexte archivistique plus large, théorique, normatif et méthodologique. Des éléments problématiques sont questionnés, tels que la répartition des rôles dans l’évaluation entre archivistes (valeur historique) et représentants de l’administration (valeur juridico-administrative). La deuxième partie de l’article se concentre sur la pratique de l’évaluation aux ACV et souligne un manque de « transparence » malgré les efforts consentis pour rendre le processus décisionnel moins aléatoire. L’article se termine avec la présentation d’outils de travail destinés à améliorer la visibilité et la réflexivité de l’évaluation

Get PDFDie automatische Handschriftenerkennung (HTR) hat sich in kurzer Zeit zu einem wertvollen Werkzeug mit grossem Potenzial für ABD-Institutionen entwickelt. Die so entstandenen neuen Möglichkeiten will diese Arbeit illustrieren unter Verwendung der Software Transkribus (Stand 2022). Anhand eines kleinen Corpus von Alltagsbriefen des Gelehrten Johannes Gessner aus dem 18. Jahrhundert werden eine Auswahl öffentlicher Transkribus-Modelle getestet sowie die Vorteile aufgezeigt, die das Erstellen eigener Modelle je nach Textcorpus bieten kann. Dabei wird gezeigt, wie mit wenig Trainingsdaten Transkriptionen erstellt werden können, die für wissenschaftliche Fragestellungen verwendbar sind und eine Stütze bieten bei der manuellen Transkription.La reconnaissance automatique d\u27écritures manuscrites (HTR) est devenue en peu de temps un outil précieux, revêtant un grand potentiel pour les institutions ABD. Cette étude veut illustrer les nouvelles possibilités ainsi créées en utilisant le logiciel Transkribus (état 2022). À l\u27aide d\u27un petit corpus de lettres ordinaires de l\u27érudit du 18e siècle Johannes Gessner, une sélection de modèles Transkribus accessibles au public est testée, avec mise en évidence des avantages que peut offrir la création de modèles personnels selon le corpus de texte. L’auteure montre ainsi comment, avec assez peu de données d\u27entraînement, il est possible de créer des transcriptions utilisables dans un contexte scientifique et d’offrir un soutien pour la transcription manuelle

Identification of the optimal racing line for top male athletes on a segment of a World Cup downhill alpine ski slope using tracking data
No full textUsing tracking data we can identify the optimal racing line for top male athletes on the famous S-curved segment (Brueggli-S) of the downhill FIS world cup track “Lauberhorn” in Switzerland. For this, we have measured and analysed training runs, measured on a single day, of 10 world class athletes. Based on curvatures derived from the tracking data, a large variation in racing lines adopted by the athletes was observed. Each of the detected racing lines share a similar pattern: The maximum curvature in the first curve is strongly correlated with the minimum curvature of the second curve. We have found that, for the athletes under investigation, the overall best racing line is characterized by a defined ratio of the maximum curvature of the first to the second curve. We claim that the observed correlation, as well as the optimal ratio of curvatures, is universal for a class of athletes with nearly identical performance levels. If and how this ratio varies for different classes of athletes (i.e. U10, U12 or U16 athletes) is an as yet unanswered question and remains open to further investigation
